Years ago crocheted baskets made of fabric were the fashion--we did them on those size S hooks, with 3" wide fabric, which came on big spools. The only crocheting I LOVED! I still have one basket that's heavy drapery sateen.

Just a heads up for anyone who likes super soft, extra bulky yarn... and can stand pastels [:D]

Bernat has a new yarn, Bernat Baby Blanket. I got 2 hats and a long scarf from one 10 oz ball (with leftovers), and plan to do a wrap/ throw when I can afford a few more balls. This is the softest, warmest yarn I've ever crocheted with, and it works up super fast. The recommended hook size is 'L', but I used a 'P' hook both single and double crochet and it came out perfectly.

Awesome and thank you Lady H.

I've made the rag rugs where your braid long strips of material then shape them and sticth them together. I still have those on my floor.

You know that I am down to $14 dollars in the bank and you are tempting me.

Besides, I have to clean out the yarn closet so I can get my winter clothes in there.

Phoenixpower -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/24/2011 6:20:36 PM)

Now I finally solved the problem why I didnt understand the start of the knitting pattern for the mice I have to knit...thank goodness my mom solved that mystery and now I know where I went wrong...of course now I forgot the knitting pattern back home [8|][>:]

Anyhow, I found on ebay more mice of that particular pattern, so it will be with me soon and I can use those.

Also due to my time with my nephew at home silly me decided now to do an adventskalendar for him as well....[8|] thank goodness I have time at present AND wool....

If it works out how I have it planned in my head, then it should be gorgeous at the end...but for now I have to start putting it on paper at first to have the draft to crochet the background for it [>:][&o]

Oldhen, the stuff we crocheted with was like the rag rug stuff!

Thank you and good morning. Knowing that for sure helps. Lol, if doing the purse does not turn out I can just add the strips to my rug making pile.

I need a head slapping (from NCIS).

For the past few days, I have been hunting down a 3-in-one needle threader and I had given up on it.  I went ahead and order me a new one.

I went to take a nap and Mom gets on the computer.  She starts cleaning the desk.

That rascal was under some CDs and receipts.

Now...where did that razor cartridge go.....

ETA:  Minor typo rescue...

BTW:  Good valve has a lovely sugar-free pudding.  something that actually has some taste (and it is chocolaty)

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/27/2011 1:15:30 PM)

I finished the sweater for my grand.  It looks a lot like the one i made my grown daughter...see previous page.  All i did was use a kids pattern and change the neckline.

Now i am doing watch caps for my charity knitting.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/27/2011 8:07:27 PM)

I was suppose to finish sewing the details on the ladybug and penguin today but I think I had a mental breakdown.  Just playing on the computer and having a ribeye for dinner.  I can do catch-up in the morning.

Tomorrow, I get a claim canceled, call HR Block about my taxes since I do have a 1099 and not the standard W2 and actually get the details done.  Then I can get restart on the peace sign.

Phoenixpower -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/28/2011 11:33:04 AM)

Now....probably you know his stuff already....as he seems to appear in magazines in america as well, but in case you don't I thought to show you his homepage with gorgeous kids toys to knit....I stumbled over that page as I got a magazine delivered today from ebay in which it stated that he realised that people pay ridicioulus high sums for his previously published patterns, which is why he made them accessible or everyone on an own homepage with decent prices...and I have to say he saved me a fair bit now as I could cancel a lot of snyping activities....I simply love those mice in their different varieties and will use them for my nephews adventskalendar (though more likely next year as this year I have already another one in my mind). Anyhow, for easter I am knitting some of his bunnies and use them as parcel wrapping for his actual present.

here is the homepage

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/31/2011 10:14:11 AM)

I just got my new books from Crafters Choice. I saved over $126 on 5 books, one of which I have been looking for.  I just have to order 1 more book and I can cancel my membership.

Did I mention that I am a cheapskate?

Wyld, I was checking out Ebay yesterday and I found a few skeins there for $3.75.  I cannot get any at this moment, but I figured you wanted a heads up on this.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (1/31/2011 11:32:09 AM)

Everything I start goes awry lately!! So now I am doing a plain shaped swaater with bell sleeves! Wish me luck!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (2/7/2011 10:12:39 PM)

Where can I get a size 50 knitting needle?  I tried Herrschners but they don't have any.

I will search Michaels and HB tomorrow (and Jo Anns too).

I'll look, but they are likely the 3oz skeins, not the ginormous 10oz ones that keep me from having to weave in so many ends (ya, I'm that lazy!) [;)]

Dnomyar -> RE: Needles and Hooks (2/8/2011 5:34:45 AM)

Chick! Shar only has $14 in the bank. Shar do you really have money in the bank? Will you marry me.

Dnomyar -> RE: Needles and Hooks (2/8/2011 5:37:22 AM)

LH whats a plain shaped swatter with bell shaped sleeves??? You can tell me over lunch.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (2/8/2011 8:24:55 AM)

Ray, I got a few more dollars in the bank now and a gift card for walmart.  Lizard wants to start bead jewelry work but her mind is so confused where to start.  An old lady was showing her some amethyst pieces  while Lizard was looking at some earrings that look good with some stones in it.

This is the first time that she was confused that was not school related.
