DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM

One of my friends has given me TWO BIG BAGS of yarn. VINTAGE yarn. Like, fabulous mohair boucle that is screaming WEAVE ME. Shetland wool. Superfine rayon/wool twist. And okay, a superfine acrylic (made in FRANCE, thx!) in what can only be described as a fluorescent cherry colour. There is a lot of it.

I am just grateful no one was home when I brought in the bags.

I admit that I think I need the Ashford 20" Knitters Loom. Unless I can somehow get the fatter yarn into the normal heddles.

I admit that this will not happen anytime soon. [:o]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/10/2010 10:23:21 AM)

YARN PILE!!!

*jumps up and lands on the pile*

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/12/2010 10:57:01 AM)

got my emperor purple in today, as well as my L and M hooks.  Mom saw them but she shrugs her shoulders.  Also...got my angels and snowflakes w/ thread in today was well.  Busy doing laundry now, with crocheting the grandy squares.

I need to lose some weight, so I will be walking later today.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/12/2010 11:24:31 AM)

Oh cripes granny squares. I have a pile of them that I got from an estate sale and NO mad skillz to crochet them together! They are nice, too, each one in different colours with the black.

Yes, I need the bigger Knitters Loom. WHY did I not get borned one of those entitlement bitches who always has her hand out??? I could just say, Hey!! Want that prostate massage? Head on over to the weaving store ASAP!

Me, I just couldn't live that way. Sigh.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/13/2010 11:57:41 AM)

Next month, when I am in Austin, I will go to Hill Country Weavers and drown myself in the yarn.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/13/2010 12:23:32 PM)

Oh nooooes there are cones of rayon/silk in my ocean colourway at dbny!!

Sigh. Oh well.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/13/2010 12:30:39 PM)

I ordered some books from Ebay tonight  got the from Knit to Crochet book yesterday and IMHO the crochet projects has more ump to them.  The knitted ones looked dowdy.

[sm=banghead.gif][sm=gaah.gif][sm=river.gif][sm=wtf.gif]

I decided to clean under the TV this morning and what do I find...another "from Knit to Crochet" book.

So...guess what I have to do....sell the new one, hopefully at cost.  Can't sell the old one because of some dog ears.

That is okay...I am selling a few more books (beading, candle making and jewelry making).

I got tons of snowflakes to crochet up, block and stiffen...which reminds me...I got to go over some old magzaines(?) to scan into the computer and print.  This is a 2 diet dew day...

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/15/2010 7:01:42 PM)

FINALLY!!!

got dozens of snowflakes scanned in (and a couple of afghans). Keeping a few magazines, especially the horse that I learn to make.  Got the directions for layettes (if I can find the time to do them).

Has anyone check the DBNY yet?  They got the move done...and giving 5%  discount...check your emails for the codeword.

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/15/2010 9:19:49 PM)

I'm going to get the Brown Sheep grab bag & am trying what else I want.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/16/2010 11:13:00 AM)

Got one of my books about prayer shawls in the mail today  That is the fastest I seen a package delivered by USPS.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/16/2010 7:45:42 PM)

HolyMOLY I just realized that the family picnic is Sunday and I should be able to get most of the front of the hoodie done!

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/17/2010 4:39:53 PM)

I just spent about $100 at DBNY. Mom's going to die when she sees how much I got. She & I are going to Joann's & couple of LYS's on Monday. She wants to get yarn for "a few more projects". I think we'll need to get some more totes too.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/17/2010 8:04:53 PM)

That place is the DEVIL I am telling you!!! I so want that Classic Elite Fame in the seaside colourway!!

I lost a batch of Melrose Cravenella on ebay... that's the vintage yarn that I got from my friend. This was a good sized lot, but I could tell that it would have been an insane bidding war over yarn that I truly have no use for. I have vague notions of a faux-Missoni thing, but what, that would get touched in 2015? And the world will have ended by then! [:D]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/17/2010 8:17:27 PM)

I got the yarn that I got from England today.  Luckily Mom was asleep and I snuck them into my bedroom. I already got a Red Heart one pounder black for the granny squares and it did not last long.

I am getting ready to work on the ladybug for my niece and the penguin for my nephew.  If there is any black leftover for these projects, I will use them for the last few squares.

Yes, this is similar to the Kiama in the Origami book. Tulip would ROCK this, but I know now that is is a NO WAY for anyone with a ghetto booTAY. Hmph.
