They have several purple yarns on sale. Which one(s) are you looking at? I still trying to decide which I like best & then I need to figure out which project to use it for.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/5/2010 8:24:02 PM)

Its the first one in the bag of yarn...

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 11:48:08 AM)

This purple...Emperor purple

For some reason it is not allowing me to post directly to the yarn.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 12:00:07 PM)

My downfall is GRAB BAGS. How good am I for not scoring two of the Classic Elite ones??? But I got a great ball of some purple textured wool in a bag from last year. I love purple!

I started a new ambitious entrelac, but hands keep getting sticky from the heat. Does anyone know a good way to combat this?

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 3:26:18 PM)

i had to look up entrelac.   It looks intresting, but my poor little brain isn't ready for that challenge.

i can't help you on the hands.  Sorry.

Talcum powder. That, and air conditioning! Good on ya with the entrelac!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 6:11:47 PM)

ohhh...that entrelac...I am used to cables in crochet.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 7:44:46 PM)

Question here.

I got the basic colony of hooks...B - K with N  with P and Q.

I went ahead and ordered the L and M hooks.

If I am to start crocheting with the B hook, what will my snowflakes will look like?  I fear that I am making something too hard or too tight, not to mention too large.

I just wish my stainless hooks get here so I can work with thread again.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 11:11:56 PM)

Grrrr I just had to pull it all out and start over. I made a great pink and black last year, this seems much more difficult for some reason.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/6/2010 11:17:15 PM)

I've never done cables before. Are you talking about tatting?

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/7/2010 2:31:55 AM)

For crocheting cables, you use fdc and bdc to make it possible.

I want to learn other knitting techniques that can be use on other projects.

tropicalhoney -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/7/2010 10:21:24 PM)

I am making a sampler blanket with the stitches from a knitting stitch book. It's a lot of fun - so far I have done lace, pineapples, turtles, and assorted basket weave, etc. I have lots of leftover yarn from baby blankets which has the same gauge, so I am in knitting heaven for the time being.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/8/2010 1:47:50 PM)

I am willing to learn tatting...if Mom does not kill me first.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/8/2010 3:06:25 PM)

I have a couple of tatting needles... and a few little tatted circles, with little picots. Why did I stop? I think because I didn't have a project in mind other than a nice big tote bag (one is a BIG gauge) but was too flummoxed to actually design one.

There are not enough years left to do all the stuff that is in my head. I SHOULD by rights get rid of things like the tatting needles. And I never will!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/9/2010 4:38:53 PM)

[sm=pc.gif][sm=runaway.gif][sm=river.gif]

I was checking out my favorites and the one devoted for yarns and patterns is missing.

I am in a bind.  All I can remember is the crochet pattern central, Lion Brand and Bernat.

If anyone can get the other sites for me, I would greatl appeciate it.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/9/2010 5:55:40 PM)

I like knitty http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEff10/index.php, and just signed up for ravelry. Is that what you're looking for?

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/9/2010 6:21:09 PM)

ohhh...I feel foolish.

I was going to my games folder and there it was.  It did colored me red.

I am sorry for causing a petite mistake...
