I don't go to movie theaters to see movies, huge waste of money in my opinon  plus I just plain dislike theaters, but yes I've stopped a movie before it was done because it was stupid or utterly boreing while watching at home.

I walked out halfway through a play once.  A bit less actually.  Some of the actors were friends of mine in this little independent experimental piece of absolutely horrible masterbatory crap in which Romeo and Juliet meet up with Hamlet and they all fall in love and Hamlet has this huge sexual identity crisis and then the breaker box in the theater tripped and all the stage lights went out.. the energency lights worked though.  So instead of either going on with the show sans lighting or pausing the production and letting theaudience go out in the lobby while they fix the problem, like a sane director would do, this genius of the theater tells the actors to hold their places and starts moralizing on the duty of the artist and the audience to the written word, and serving the play... which was really a collection of badly cut lines from different Shakespeare plays that this director had pasted together with his own badly written dialogue so her could work out his own issues and fantasies on a stage with three sexy young actors.  Then he pulls out a bunch of other poems he had written while he was "researching" the work and starts to read them to the audience...  I just did not have the stomach to sit there watching my friends on the stage stand there uncomfortably and look at each other, and the director, and the audience, while their glorious leader jacked off in front of the whole audience like that... so I got up to leave and this guy actually points me out and accuses me of having no respect for the theater...I just had to laugh... I said I was leaving because I had too much respect for the theater, and I walked out.

I've walked out of a few. The only one that really stands out was Passion of the Christ. My cousin who I was great friends with growing up is very religious and begged me to see it with her. I was pretty aprehensive as I'd heard how godawful bad the movie was but I agreed. I'm a bit of  a sadist and at first the long whipping scene wasn't too bad, I'd built up a pretty strong dislike for the actor playing Jesus by that point, but it dragged on and on and finally I just couldn't stand it and left. My cousin's still pretty mad at me for it.

What I don't get is if a BDSM porn was even 1/10th as graphic the fundies would be having strokes protesting it but a bad movie about some crazy nun's visions and its all right?

I walked out on Deep Throat.
I was 16, newly married and still uncomfortable with bj's.  We were sitting toward the back because my ex thought he could get me inspired, and some guy.. an icky guy, sat fairly close to us.  He was watching the movie and being not so subtle about fiddling with his pants.
I am positive you could see my blush in the darkened theater.
I still havent seen that movie.

it's a family joke, how my grandmother decided to go to the movies when she first moved to the US (Hollywood, actually), and not speaking the language, chose a double feature..."Deep Throat" and "The Devil in Miss Jones"...you join her auspicious company of being in the theatre but never actually seeing the movie

I walked out of Natural Born Killers.  Oliver Stone should be ashamed of that piece of shit.  I'm saying this as somone who is a lover of B-movies, so I can usually sit through almost anything.  But that movie was just horrible; it was like watching a bad acid trip.

I'd almost forgotten about that monstrosity. You owe me for reminding me of it.

*LOL*

The worst movie I ever saw was Falling from Grace starring John Mellencamp. My friend and I kept waiting for the story to start and then the movie ended. We had debated whether or not to leave before that point. On the positive side, no money was paid out as my friend had comp tickets. On the negative side, we both wanted that hour and a half of our lives back.

I remember leaving a horrible below B rated 3-D film called, Coming at You that had body dismemberment and gang rape.  And while I like Bjork, Dancing in the Dark,  had such bad shaky-cam that I ended up with a migraine.

I had to watch that in my Criminal Justice class on Patterns of the Criminal Behavior and I agree.  I was just happy I did not have any popcorn that day after seeing all of the gore and blood in some parts of this chopped up movie.

The other one shown in class was "A Clockwork of Orange", directed by Stanley Kubrick that had some rape scenes in that movie and one other student stated that was WORSE than Natural Born Killers.  I should have skipped those classes when the instructor was showing these movies.
