I walked out of Quills http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180073/

I had high expectations that a film about the Marquis de Sade would be fascinating, but it was just tedious and depressing.

BTW the first great d/s film I saw was 9and a Half Weeks in 1986 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091635/

During the very hot play rape scene on the dining table , some middle aged ladies jumped out of their seats and shouted at the whole theatre that we should be ashamed of ourselves watching such filth, then walked out in disgust

That movie was hot!!!

Hi all Yes Nine and a Half weeks was hot MC but like so many erotic films spoiled because the characters of course have to "suffer" and have a bad ending because they have been bad!!!
My Father in Law walke out on The Sound of Music

I walked out halfway through a play once.  A bit less actually.  Some of the actors were friends of mine in this little independent experimental piece of absolutely horrible masterbatory crap in which Romeo and Juliet meet up with Hamlet and they all fall in love and Hamlet has this huge sexual identity crisis and then the breaker box in the theater tripped and all the stage lights went out.. the energency lights worked though.  So instead of either going on with the show sans lighting or pausing the production and letting theaudience go out in the lobby while they fix the problem, like a sane director would do, this genius of the theater tells the actors to hold their places and starts moralizing on the duty of the artist and the audience to the written word, and serving the play... which was really a collection of badly cut lines from different Shakespeare plays that this director had pasted together with his own badly written dialogue so her could work out his own issues and fantasies on a stage with three sexy young actors.  Then he pulls out a bunch of other poems he had written while he was "researching" the work and starts to read them to the audience...  I just did not have the stomach to sit there watching my friends on the stage stand there uncomfortably and look at each other, and the director, and the audience, while their glorious leader jacked off in front of the whole audience like that... so I got up to leave and this guy actually points me out and accuses me of having no respect for the theater...I just had to laugh... I said I was leaving because I had too much respect for the theater, and I walked out.

Maxwell this is one of the funniest stories I've heard.  TY, lol.

Escape From New York rules.  I'm hard pressed to think of any John Carpenter movie that sucks.

You're welcome.  I've gotten great mileage with that little story.  Happened late 1996 at Teatro Triangulo in Madrid. Since then I bet I've told it 20 times.  It has gotten funnier in the retelling but it is evey bit as true now as the night it happened.

Carpenter movies that suck:

Ghosts of Mars
Villiage of the Damned
Eyes of Laura Mars

and I agress with the earlier poster on Passion of the Christ... a two and a half hour snuff film, with subtitles. (I suppose, being the Son of God he could continuiously replenish his blood supply, so that they could whip him until the spray looked like something out of a Saturday Night Live/Julia Child sketch.) Sickening. This is supposed to be inspirational?

I walked out of Battlefield Earth after about 5-10 minutes. However, I didn't pay to see it -- this was at the multiplex theater and I walked in to check it out after seeing Gladiator. Had to walk out of Battlefield Earth though -- it was painfully bad.

I walked out of Natural Born Killers.  Oliver Stone should be ashamed of that piece of shit.  I'm saying this as somone who is a lover of B-movies, so I can usually sit through almost anything.  But that movie was just horrible; it was like watching a bad acid trip.

Yeah, I started watching that on cable one night and couldn't believe how badly it was done.  I think I saw half an hour of it just to see if I was missing something!

I liked Ghosts of Mars.  You got me on Village of the Damned; it was pretty bad.  Eyes of Laura Mars wasn't great, but I wouldn't say it sucked.

Thank God you only had to see it on cable.  I went to the theater and saw it in '94, and I couldn't stand it after 45 minutes.  Quentin Tarantino wrote the script, and I read that he has disowned the movie.  I think Oliver Stone filmed that entire movie on peyote.

I walked out of Armageddon. I should have walked out of many others such as Scary Movie, Hannibal, I could go on and on, I'm really picky when it comes to movies.

I literally ran away from Peter Greenaway's The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover. When the Thief starts smearing his dogs' shit into a man's face in the parking lot... I couldn't stomach anymore, especially as I knew what the whole cooking thing was leading up to. It wasn't because the film was poor quality: it's because I'm a wuss and the psychological and physical violence was very much in contrast with the film's theatricality...

Also I ran out of the cinema halfway through Funny Games by Michael Haneke (the '97 version - I hear the new one, made especiallly for the American market, is beyond tame next to it): again, because I couldn't bear to sit there waiting for the family to get tortured and killed (I think Haneke would have loved that I couldn't stay and watch the rest of the action: our moral ability or lack thereof to sit passively and watch violence and inhumanity was very much the point he was trying to make).

I usually do not go to the theatre to watch movies. I wait for the DVD, that way I can shut it off or leave the room if someone else wants to watch it.

I've "quit" more movies than I could possibly list.
