BKSir -> RE: Grammar and spelling? (8/23/2008 9:23:58 PM)

I realize that this is the 'Ask a Sub/Slave' section, but, you hit on one of my biggest pet peeves here, and I can't help but rant. I'm a Dom, it's my prerogative anyway. [;)] (kidding) It is not just you or other subs though, that hold issue with this, of that you can be certain. I will be the first to admit that my grammar is not on par with what it once was. It does bother me as well. However, I usually do my best with grammar, and attempt to try to not sound like a mentally disabled version of Yoda. When it comes to spelling, and as BeIgnited stated, netspeak, I tend to get more than a tad pissy. Netspeak tells me one of a few things. A: You don't have enough respect for me to type out three or four letter words. B: You never bothered to learn how to spell three or four letter words. C: You are trying far too hard to be 'cool'. D: You don't have time to spell out the aforementioned three or four lette words, much less time to spend on anything meaningful. E: You're not willing to put a little bit of effort into the smallest of things, what makes me expect you to even attempt more important things? In all of these cases, be they Dom, sub, or just Joe Smith on the street, they instantly lose my attention and interest in holding any further correspondence. Of course, if it's just the occasional typo, they happen. I've been on the internet long enough to recognize the difference between laziness, inability and simple mistakes. Now, as far as them saying "Bad speeling and gramer when reply, is be ignord.", yeah... I do have a big problem with this. I do not hold my pet to a standard higher than I hold myself, and attempt to keep my hypocracy to a minimum. I'm not going to ask him to be the next Maya Angelou or anyone like that, unless that is something that is obviously naturally inherrant in him, when I myself, in everyday, casual conversation have been caught using non-words such as 'funner' (good god I blushed like a mad man). That being said, nobody is perfect. But at the same time, everyone can, if they have the time to even be on this site, take the time to put a bit of effort toward writing their introduction. After all, it IS an introduction, your first message and first impression, and when I read something along the lines of what was described, my first impression is, "Wow, this person is either lazy or stupid." Perhaps I'm alone in thinking that this is most likely NOT the first impression anyone wants to give to people when that person is obviously attempting to attract them. <EDIT: Good lord, I spelled 'prerogative' wrong in the first paragraph... *headdesk*>
