I don't begrudge her from firing anyone she wants to fire. It's the dishonesty. It's certainly rampant on both sides of the aisle, but I also certainly hope that we don't ever stop calling attention to it. This thread is about Palin and you seem to have no concerns about her as VP and possible P, based on as much information as I have to be concerned.

As entertaining as your story about how her ex brother in law was fired from his job as a state trooper? And accusing me of sarcasm for asking how long the man had been without work, because you knew he had never been fired? Talk about 'doth protest too much'[8|]

I can understand why you would prefer to not have somone like me reading your posts. 
Now see Al you give me way too much credit.I didn't know he had never been fired,I made a mistake,and you caught me ,bravo for you Al.Now if you could just catch up to what I am talking about here I will send you a "gold-star'".Hint,it is more about the selection process and McCains arrogance in thinking this doesn't matter.But you go on and keep hammering away at the job status of one lonely state trooper in Alaska....glad to see your alert...

Frankly, I feel she is better qualified than the top of the ticket on the other side, and definitely has less skeletons in the closet.  Or is that not a fair comparison?

The mudslinging has just begun, and you are positing all of it as FACT.  Yes there is an ethics investigation going on right now about alleged abuse of power in firing some guy.  I would only assume from what I have read that this is probably going to go nowhere.  The "bridge to nowhere" is being spun by both sides, all I can go by is what the woman said and the dates of which things occurred.  Did she lie?  I haven't seen anything that convinced me that it was untruthful, and I would venture a guess that a reasonable person presented the facts with no names or political affiliations attached would come to the same conclussion.  Was it grandstanding? Perhaps.

Since these issues are so concerning to you, especially the "bridge to nowhere", I inquired as to why you were not so offended and concerned about Biden, you know the guy with a lobbyist for a son, Beau who will be getting his father's senate seat handed to him if Obama/Biden win in Nov.  (I even avoided the more disturbing issues this time).

And your statement about who the staffer called was wrong ( I assumed that you got mixed up, my fault).

But the thing with the investigation Thadius is voters will have to cast their votes before all the facts are in.That doesn't smack of hubris to you,asking the voters to elect a ticket while the V.P. candidate is being investigated by her home state legislature ?

Here, and feel free to explain why the union would cover up this supposed railroading of an innocent trooper for a Republican who wasn't even governor at the time.

And the ironic part is, that just like everyone who swallowed all the Koolaid fabricated against Obama, those refusing to admit to the above, aren't  interested in waiting for any actual facts that might reflect on factual wrongdoing or lack of suitability on the part of Palin... they just want to elbow the others out of the way in a rush to fall for and parrot the biggest and most easily disproven gossip and mudslinging.


Knock yourselves out, that sort of  blind faith just isn't my thing.

It's not for me to say if it's fair or not, it's what you feel.

Mike,

Why are folks so quick to jump to the conclussion that this was an attempt to garner all of the women that supported Hillary?  I have been bouncing around the various places, reading and listening, and there is one element that folks all seem to agree on.  She brought an energy to the campaign and that conservatives are really enjoying this pick.  In other words, she shores up the base and is going to get them more involved.

Too, I would suggest that there are women that will find her to be an attractive alternative (no pun intended) to the "old white guys".  This move puts her foot in the door of the national scene, and even if they lose it opens the door for many more women and even her to run in 2012.  I saw alot of commentary talking about this being a hail mary like Mondale tried, there is one big difference.  Mondale was down by 16 points when he made the move.  Obama is up the traditional bounce from a convention (at least according to this mornings numbers), otherwise it is a dead heat.

Conventional wisdom says that at most a VP pick brings at most 1% in votes, therefore I hardly see this as a move to try and steal the women that would already be voting for Obama.  Know what I mean?

Your points were about why you are concerned over the selection of this woman.  I simply asked if you are concerned about her, why is the same not asked about the other VP?  You know the 2 people running for the same position.  The mud is being slung on both sides of the aisle.  You are indeed entitled to your concerns, and if you are truly interested in those concerns one would assume that the same scrutiny should be applied to a man running.  Your points and position are quite clear.

Oh, I expect you will run away as you usually do when caught being 'mistaken'... such as when it is pointed out that I never said any such thing.
You on the other hand said 'the more the merrier' and something to the effect of 'what's the problem' to adding extra layers of corrupt politicians to a corrupt bureaucracy, (which is the practice I was criticizing) and then tried to dig yourself in deeper by defining Chiefs and Sheriffs and other elected officials as 'watchdog' groups. 

Shall we continue this stroll down memory lane with the long list of other gems you are still refusing to 'stand behind 100%'? 

Or have you hijacked this thread enough to make your get away from not answering the on topic questions?

The investigation is supposed to be finished in about 3 weeks.  Hardly after the election.

Riiight... you didnt know he hadn't been fired (but posted it as fact anyway),  which is why you accused me of sarcasm for asking how long he had been out of a job.

And now, after  your attempt to make a big deal out of a fake claim about one state trooper, you want to tap dance around my questions about why the rush to swallow lies and project your behavior accuse me of tryingtomake this all about one trooper, when post afterpost I've been comenting on the flawed process.

Same tactics you used against anyone who dared to poke holes in the lies about Obama.



Do you surround yourself with only people who fall for this stuff? 

Because it sure does seem to upset you to the point of trotting out these same old tired attack fallacies whenever other people think for themselves.

time will tell.....All of us "lefties" just see the need for something aside from McCain, his choice for V.P. will not change that, and I have faith that all of you "Righties" will screw it up durring the capaign.
I have never voted for any candidate due to their choice of V.P. and I would bet you that  most people haven't.
As for point, set, match...there is a long way to go and nothing has yet to be settled....I think from a political point of view McCain went for optimum exposure and showed more political savy than I have seen from him yet.
An excellent move but, not one that will last and he still has that boat anchor tied to his neck  in Georgie boy Bush and Deadeye Dick.

She meets the legal requirements for the job.

She should be judged, not on her sex or her age, but on her policy beliefs. She is VERY conservative. She would overturn Roe vs Wade (which terrifies me because of the privacy implications. I do not want the government to tell me what to do with my body.)

Look at her beliefs, look at her experience and education. Then make your decision.

I won't vote for her or McCain because I don't believe their policies will help anyone in this country but the big corporations and the technomanagement class.

While I am for Obama, I won't sling mud. It doesn't help.

Al again with the Obama lies and your poking of holes,have you been paying attention here....I have chosen my candidate and it is Obama.So when exactly did i use this "tactic"against you for exposing "lies about Obama"
The only post's I recall ever being even mildly reproachful to his candidacy was questions arising from his early "everybody has an old uncle' defence of Rev.Wright.And pretty much what I said than, I believe now, Wright was a political liability and a further answer was needed....Oh yeah Obama apparently agreed with me,he gave a little speech in Philly on the subject....do you care to go back and look at my post's concerning that.As usual Al you are talking out of some part of your anatomy other than your mouth.....but as I said before your entertaining so keep it up

Based on what I've read about him and what I've been able to read about her I'd rather have Governor Palin over Senator Obama.
