The investigation could conclude only four days prior to the general election for the next president and vice president of the United States.

I am the one that stated in 3 weeks, and it was based on an article I was reading yesterday.

I will dig up the link, but it quoted the former district attorney as saying that he expected to be finished with the investigation mid Sept., there of course is no telling how long French (a democrat) might drag it out in council, or if he would do so.

Sanity -> RE: MoveOns Take on Palin (8/30/2008 8:04:08 PM)

Did you vote Republican, after eight years of the Clintons, in order to bring the country back to the right?

Let me put it to you this way CL,and this is a line I have used before, but one I firmly believe. If the Democrats had nominated Mickey Mouse who was wearing Minnie Mouse's dress....I would be voting for Mickey. It is not so much that I am a die hard Democrat, but more that I am a centrist and after 8 years of being pulled to the right...this country needs a tug to the left...just to catch a glimpse of the center..

I will tell you this much Sanity ,I am extremely regrettful for the vote I cast in 2000...beyond that I don't believe I will defend nor explain my past voting record here.Draw your own conclusions. Edited to add.The Clinton years were not unmitigated disaster the Constitution was not under daily attack. We were not engaged in 2 wars. This country did not debate the relative benifits of torture in the halls of Government...just a few difference's

No it doesn't ,and yes I am saying the act of running itself is experience and an opportunity to publicly vet prospective office holders.

Then Biden's our boy. I forget the number of times he has run and failed.

You don't seem overly proud of the results of the method you use to determine which way you vote. Why not go with dice, instead. Or possibly tea leaves, or tarot cards?

This is, after all, the year for "change".

kittinSol -> RE: MoveOns Take on Palin (8/30/2008 8:30:03 PM)

And how do YOU decide, oh Wise One?

Sanity -> RE: MoveOns Take on Palin (8/30/2008 8:44:11 PM)

You forgot the little worship smiley  [sm=bowdown.gif]

No answer for you.

All joking aside, I'm proud of having voted the right way in 2000 as well as 2004. If you think the economy was bad under Bush, imagine how much worse things would have been under Gore. We still would have been attacked, Clinton left plans for invading Iraq on the table... but the big difference would have been the Gory higher taxes and green taxes which would been absolutely disastrous - but he would have never given up his mansions or jets or limos of course.

Don't even get me started on Kerry. Bush may not be the greatest speaker, but he bested those two in the debates, and for very good reason - they were both mental midgets compared to him!

Ah okay, so now we at least get the admission that she was in charge of a town (regardless of pop), that is still more than Obama has ever run.  Now let's move to the next big step, she is a Gov, yet another position that not only is running a government, but also makes her commander in chief of the Alaskan national guard.  Too, as Gov of Alaska, she has had to negotiate with Canada, Japan, and Russia, over fishing and maritime water rights.  She has had to handle controls over the oil and natural gas production in her state, and has negotiated with Canada over a proposed new natural gas pipeline.  That is just the stuff off the top of my head.  Not much experience in running things at all, and not very much in terms of dealing with other governments, eh?

So how do her qualifications for vice president stack up against the qualifications of the man running for president on the other ticket?  I would say she stacks up pretty damn well, and is probably more qualified.

She went to the Middle East way before Obama did.

Palinporn:
... we get an enormous amount of traffic from people looking for Sarah Palin photographs. My friend Jason over on postpolitical says he’s experiencing the same phenomenon on his blog, and we took to calling it the hunt for “Palinporn.” Toward that, my favorite keyword from this hidden web image search also comes from Jas: “A MILF we can believe in.”

Lots of good photos. [:D][8D]

First off anyone who lists Wikipedia as their first source of information pretty much discredits most of what they have to say...

Second, it's moveon.org. Do you expect them to say anything different than this?

Oh shoot, were we supposed to read the article? My sister said my computer will blow up, if I go to that website.

Let me ask hot-thing,since you`re a breeder and "been there".

Should a mom who had a child 3 months ago,be running for VP?

One of those concerns won`t get all the attention it needs.Maybe both won`t.

Yes or no?

Wow, you really are reaching now.

To an old person like me John McCain was highly questionable before Palin.   Type in “Keating Five” in a search engine and the result should leave you questioning John McCain’s ethics.  McCain was one of the five senators who tried to thwart the S&L Investigation that cost taxpayers about $3,000,000,000 and cost ma and pa investor about $200,000,000.  Not much is said as to whether McCain’s father in law and wife lost any of their approximately $400,000 investment with Keating in another contemporaneous business venture.  I believe McCain sent $110,000 to the Treasury Department after he was caught which represented monies Keating paid directly to John McCain as political contributions.   Keating ended up spending four years in prison and describing McCain as “a wimp.”   They were at one time close friends and associates.  Pay attention to all the benefits Keating showered on McCain over the years.  John McCain will accept virtually any characterization of his actions relating to Keating except one that tends to suggests criminality; “I was acting in a stupendously immature manner.”   McCain’s actions incensed both the prosecutors and the defendants as being without backbone and deceitful.  See for example http://www.slate.com/id/1004633/.               I am sure that someone will say that 1987 was a long time ago.  The Vietnam War and 1968 are even further back in time.  Does that mean McCain has to go back forty years in time to find something he did right? Admittedly, my life long record of voting Republican ended in 2004.  What is the name of the protest song by “The Who” in the 1960’s?  ………………“We Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

Glad to see you brought this one up... Why not provide the other specifics to the Keating 5, and more importantly what the investigator said or recommended?  Prolly, cuz it doesn't serve the purpose of the soundbite political attention span these days.

Sen. Bennett (the investigator, oh and the guy that defended Clinton against the impeachment) recommended that no charges be brought against McCain and even suggested that McCain was added to the investigation just so there was a Republican in the mix and not just 3 Dems.

Ah but what do I know.

Thadius please correct me if I'm wrong but did he not also say that (and I paraphrase here)if this was an ethics test McCain fail in every way one could fail....just asking?

Thadius -> RE: MoveOns Take on Palin (8/31/2008 4:49:23 PM)

Who are you referring to? Bennett?

If Bennett felt there was an failure in ethics he would not have recommended to the Ethics committee that regarding McCain "that there was no evidence against him.".  I have never seen Bennett say anything close to what you are suggesting, if it is out there please provide it, I am simply saying I have never seen it.
