Icarys -> Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:27:41 AM)

This is going to be a simple post[:D]. Tell me why you identify as sub or slave. What made you pick either or in the profile? Anyone else who wants to post, of course, is welcome. I'd like to get input from whomever has it.

I'm sure this has been done but not sure if it's been addressed this way. Still looking for input.

Hmm ok

I don't identify as either...I don't label myself at all. If someone else wants to, that's all fine and dandy...just don't think that I am going to accept your label for ME [:)]

And yes, that is my standard response. I don't use labels, not for myself and I do not apply them to others no matter what THEY call themselves.

People are people, nothing more, and nothing less.

Icarys -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:34:08 AM)

Well, if you don't mind, tell my which one you identify with and why.

Icarys -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:35:17 AM)

Okay then this wouldn't apply to you correct? Thanks for your input.

RealSub58 -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:40:19 AM)

No sarcasm here...

I am my Sir's submissive.  I have no limits with him.
My screen name was chosen by him.
His pet name for me is "sweetheart."

My personality type is submissive.
I identify as an obedient woman, wanting to please, needing the control my owner provides.

Now that is pure genius...can I borrow that lol?

natasha66 -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:42:29 AM)

It depends on the phase of the moon, day of the week, what i had for breakfast, etc.  Just kidding.  i don't like labels, but aside from being just "me", if i HAD to pick one, it would be submissive with slave tendencies.  Convoluted answer, maybe, but i don't think i fit into ANY particular category...nor does anyone else for that matter.  As has been said, people are just that, people.

sirsholly -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:50:03 AM)

My answer to the op...i am not a label.

kyraofMists -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 6:53:14 AM)

For me, I consider myself submissive in the context of this website because I prefer to transfer the authority over my life to my partner.  My preference in a deeply intimate relationship is to submit to their will.  I am his slave because there is no aspect of my life that he cannot exercise his authority.  There is no aspect that I said is off limits; he is the determining factor over when, where, what and how he will exercise his authority.

Regards to you Icarys.

I am that which Master calls me.  So I identify as his.  That is all that really matters to us on a personal level.

Obviously in settings like CM, such an identity is not an option.  Therefore I am identified on CM as 'submissive' - this is not something that 'I am' but something I do - which is why we expand on the profile.

The Search box works wonders for the extra input you seek.
As stated before, this topic has been EXHAUSTED so just Search, Search and more Search.[8|]

sirsholly -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 7:19:50 AM)

agree with the above post...

Icarys -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 7:21:09 AM)

Thank you for the reply and thank all of you so far. I guess my next question might be to the ones who don't identify as either. Why don't you like the labels given..not just that you don't like labeling people but why..maybe i'll start another thread on that but your welcome to "hijack" for that if you like.

RCdc -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 7:22:44 AM)

I disagree.  This isn't a debate about what the difference is - sure those have been exhausted.  This is a specific question about the profile choice and personal identification.

LOL I could say I am sorry for trying to turn the humor on; but it would be a lie. Threads of this nature have a tendency, through no fault of any single posting, of turning into 'what's better, submissive or slave, and why".
However, to answer the question you so nicely put in here lol...

Why don't I like labels? Well, labels tend to restrict the possibilities of who and what I CAN be.
Now yes, I understand that some lables are necessary...woman, female, girl, man, male, etc etc...Those still do not..define who I can be, nor do they emcompass all that I want, need, can and will be.

A simple answer is that I am just me; unique and undefinable...that leaves the possibilities wide open without restrictions.

The same applies as to why I don't label others. A person is MORE than just a label; more than all the labels they will carry in a lifetime. Why should I restrict THEIR possibilities in my mind?

sirsholly -> RE: Submissive and Slave. (9/3/2008 7:31:40 AM)

and to add to IM's awesome post...we all wear different hats on any given day. My "label" today may not be my "label" tomorrow.

Perhaps the OP might want to search labeling...also done many times.

I always look past the label and ask the person what it means to them.  I use the analagy of beans or soup.  You can have two tins, both labelled soup.  Heinz and Campbells.  I like soup generally, but I cannot stand the tase of any campbells - I think it's the salt.  But I love Heinz.  But I do not restrict soup to simply being soup, I can pour it into a casserole to make the flavour and texture different.  I don't like to restrict myself to it simply being soup.
