That is what Vanity Fair editors estimate was the value of what Cindy McCain was wearing on Monday alone.

What do you think of this?

Just a simple observation.

She can afford it.

umm -  she earned every penny, pays taxes on what she earns, and looked really good.

Good on her.

Its people like her that enable the rest of us to have a job ( business owners that is)

By the way - i also thought Mrs Obama looked really nice in her $140 dress.

Earned? Mrs. McCain is an heiress. She is not CEO of Hensley.

Well in that case you misunderstood it.She most certainly did inherit it and it was her father who built it into a major company.

Not according to the actual facts on the ground. She inherited the family business in 2000 when her father died. At the time it was one of the biggest beer distributors in the nation. She has never been CEO only Chairwoman of the Board. The company is roughly the same size today as it was in 2000.

The only business she ever directly controlled, a strip mall, was a complete disaster and wound up getting Senator McCain in ethics trouble as part of the Keating S&L debacle.

I would have to wonder why they would think I care how much her dress cost.

For real? Woa, that's a lot of dough for a frock. Or was it her jewellery? If it's the glad rags, it seems to me it's a little bit indecent, considering the state of most people's bank accounts. It's her personal choice, but she could have been more modest: it wouldn't have hurt.

Here's a link to the Vanity Fair piece.

Mrs. McCain's jewelry makes up the bulk of the price tag.

Doing the V8 thump on cyberdude.

Because THAT is what celebs are SUPPOSED to do. Be narcissistic, materialistic, plastic surgeried, fake smiling, Barbie dolls! Not our politicos! Duhhhhh!

You see, we keep hoping and praying for some actual human substance from them.

Or when a democrat gets a 500 dollar haircut, it becomes the defining moment of his campaign, used to paint him as an "elitist."

i think...as long as she didn't get the money dealing drugs to children, or selling arms to the Taliban ....who gives a flying fuck?  It's her money(sure, she shouldn't get a tax cut...but that's a seperate issue....*to self: FOCUS!*)....and she's not running for office.
