Lockit -> RE: Safety Message about Holly's Cooking (9/14/2008 11:02:03 AM)

Firemen are great... I got to meet a whole bunch of them once and they were not happy with me... nope not at all.  I lived in a beautiful old caretakers quarters that was really high up in the air and there was this beautiful balcony with french doors, but like I said, it was really high up in the air.  One day we had to go to the store for food as the um's had been sick and we couldn't go for a while and we needed food that day or we would go without.  While getting ready, the um's went down the inclosed staircase and started fiddling with the very old door.  Well, we didn't know it but there was this really old lock on the door that wasn't used.  I didn't know it worked.  No one did.  Well it worked and locked us in and there was no way of getting out.  I didn't have a phone, no one was around and I didn't know what to do.  So I saw a neighbor across a busy street and called out to her... she thought we had a fire and saw the um's and called the fire dept. and all of a sudden I had fire trucks all over the place.  They really took that seriously because the homes were so old and they pulled up with all of us on the balcony, me cringing and the um's having a great time!  They thought a young family was going to burn up and I think they sent every truck the city had and all the big boss guy firemen.  They were really determined to save us and you should have seen the looks on their faces when they found there was no fire!  I could have died on the spot not caring how baggy those pants were.

They did not like my kitten in the tree joke... but by the end of it, I had them all laughing.  (Remembered this and felt bad for Holly... seems we have a few things in common.  Shall we watch some Lucy Ricardo?)

Ya know, reading thru this has started a bell jangling.....*keep the comments to yourselves, dammit*....I remember reading on the boards a while ago that someone's stove caught on fire, they went to replace it, the male didn't measure the doorway, and the stove didn't fit into the house.......you don't spose........maybe it was Holly and Jim?  Or am I hallucinating again?  (damn cheap drugs!)

That would be them...  [:D]

WARNING: Chili simmering in the crockpot!!!!

my chili is not the 5-alarm kind...though the fire dept would argue that fact...

beargonewild -> RE: Safety Message about Holly's Cooking (9/15/2008 8:27:48 AM)

*snort*
Hope the hell the crockpot doesn't short circuit. Anyone in a 50 mile radius be advised that holly is simmering chili and it could explode.

*another safety message brought to you by your friendly neighborhood safety coalition*

Do you think having oxygen on hand with the extreme likelyhood of fire is a good idea? [;)]

scifi1133 -> RE: Safety Message about Holly's Cooking (9/15/2008 1:00:41 PM)

Probably not, but hell if we are going to burn the place down anyway, might as well make sure it goes quickly.
