Iraq had nothing whatsoever to do with "plan[ing] and carr[ying] out the 9/11 attacks. If she is talking about the present, why the past tense?

Some of the folks providing insurgents did have something to do with "planning and carrying out the attacks".

the point of what? That I thought it was touching or that meat didn't?

The point is the DO go where they are told. It doesn't matter if it was built on a lie. It doesn't matter if it continues
because there never was an exit strategy. It doesn't matter if they were under armed and under lead when they went. They just go, and die, for the glory of an ill fated idea.

And this has what to do with my thinking the text I highlighted was touching. I still don't see your point.

How do you know this? It seems to go against the 9/11 commission, the administration, (finally) and the CIA:

The bipartisan National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States said it found "no credible evidence that Iraq and al Qaida cooperated on attacks against the United States."The panel also said that contacts between al Qaida and Iraq before the attacks "do not appear to have resulted in a collaborative relationship."The group's conclusion confirmed similar findings by the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies. President Bush, who once claimed such a pre 9-11 connection to Iraq, has since backed off.

You don't see the seperation in what I am saying do you?  Here is a simplified version then (sorry for sounding patronizing).

Iraq had nothing to do with the planning of the attacks on 9/11.  Some of those fighting in Iraq are members of the organization that did, and are backed by those that did plan those attacks.

Hope that clears it up.

You need to enunciate a little more clearly.

What's weak, what are you denying.

Are you denying that we're fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq?

Or are you denying the fact that al-Qaeda attacked the U.S. on 9/11.

And that is weak.

SO does claiming that she stated that Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

From what I understand, we are not at war with Iraq...

Again, if she is talking about the present, why the past tense?  (It seems to me she could use all the clarity she can get right now.)

If your Internet provider is charging you per word that you send, why not consider getting a new provider?

Because that is when the planning and attacks occured?

I'm still trying to get over any parent who would be smiling proudly and being able to make a speech during their child's departure into that God-forsaken war. Thank goodness that I raised children who question authority and don't have any interest in blowing up brown people.

Not an insult towards those who have loved ones "over there" I just don't get it. Not this war. Not this commander in chief. I believe Sarah, if elected, will at some point become president simply due to McCains age and recuring cancer. If this comes to pass, she'll be one of the biggest war mongers in the history of human kind. She doesn't understand basic diplomacy. Just our way or we'll blow ya'll up.

Her son is going to Iraq. The speech was on the occasion of commemorating his impeding deployment to Iraq. Therefore, she was talking about Iraq. How is that disingenuous to point out that she told the soldiers to whom the speech was addressed that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans"?
