bipolarber -> NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 6:50:35 AM)

Just heard on NPR this moring that the National Organization of Women is putting it's support behind the Obama Biden ticket. As their chairman stated, "we were waffling on who to endorse, until the Palin pick. Looking at her stance, and her record, we believe that she is an anethma to all of our ideals."

She also estimated that, along certain demographic lines, perhaps as much as 30% of women like Palin... but, she qualified, "the more those women learn about Palin's positions, the more they gravitate back to the democratic side."

The official announcement of the endorsement will follow later today.

That's nice. Kinda confirms to me, that I made the right choice.

TheHeretic -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 7:05:42 AM)

There is a rationalization of this on Huff Post, completely denigrating Palin's experience and accomplishment.  But then, NOW has been perfectly willing to be the National Organization for Women who make the "Correct" choices for a very long time.

      Their endorsement is meaningless

popeye1250 -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 7:08:37 AM)

No!!!
"NOW" endorses Obama/Biden???
I figured those anal-retentive steel traped vagina neurotic passive aggressive eunichs were a shoe-horn in for McCain.
Boy, you learn something new everyday huh?
They were suspiciously "quiet" when their boy Clinton was going around touching everything but the third rail.
Not a peep!

celticlord2112 -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 7:16:37 AM)

Total shock. Those who despise men for having testicles rally in support of the ticket that has none.

Mercnbeth -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 7:18:50 AM)

Makes sense; NOW is not a organization for women to empower women and support any decision made by women. NOW only deems politically correct women worthy. No room for conservatives, or pro-life, or hunting woman who may think outside their dogma of the 'one true woman'.

There is an agenda behind the agenda of NOW and many similar organizations. Try and get someone from the ACLU to support you leaving work on a 'Christian' holiday and they won't consider it. Advocate for foot baths as a follower of Islam, or the right to not pick up passengers as a taxi driver and they are right there with their litigation war-chest.

Then again, look at the Party as a whole. Tonight here in LA for $28,500 you can show your support for Senator Obama. A man of the people, many of whom don't make $28,500 as an annual salary. No wonder he doesn't relate to Pennsylvania working class factory workers. He's more a Babs man.

He'll be distancing himself from his elitist image next week.

The nation's financials may be in a spiral, but cash is flowing into the Obama campaign faster than Marvin Hamlisch can play "Niagara"!

Yesterday, Obama declared how we are in "the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression."

Today he will host a dinner in Beverly Hills --- costing attendees $28,500 dollars each!

No - we won't be going.

My question is, why is NPR giving voice to an organization that is so radically far to the left as NOW.

You can put lipstick on the NOW organization, and it's still the NOW organization.

I agree with you Mr. Merc. And thank you for not going the misogynist route of the former posters. I've always been disappointed in NOW and how they exclude women who don't subscribe to their definition of an empowered woman. I don't support a McCain and Palin ticket, but how could I not admire and respect the man and his accomplishments and the woman with her astounding ability to balance motherhood in Alaska while swatting down members of her own party? Now doesn't have to endorse her, but they didn't have to denigrate her as woman either.

Oh my God! Shocker!  NOW endorsed Obama.  I would suggest that the importance of  NOW and their endorsement of Obama would in the same category of surprise and impact on people as Mat Damon, Barbara Streisand  or Oprah.  Other than "Entertainment Tonight" who else cares?

Incidentally, Obama will be with his Hollywood co-stars tonight in an estimated $8 million fundraiser in Beverly Hills. Would love to go but just don't have the $28,500 ticket cost.  Just the little people supporting their democrat candidate out there off Rodeo Drive.

popeye1250 -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 7:44:33 AM)

Hmmmm, I think "NOW" just did endorse McCain/Palin.
You know, if I were running for political office I'd avoid "Hollywood" like the plague!
Now I *really* want to see Obama lose in a landslide just so "Babs" will go off the deep end again! lol

Vendaval -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 11:48:10 AM)

Thank you for post this, bipolar bear.  I was expecting that NOW would endorse this ticket and new that the choice of the GOP VP nominee would be polarizing to both ends of the political spectrum.

Please provide the link when the official announcement is posted.

It not their lying that bothers me but the credit they're giving my intelligence.

cyberdude611 -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 12:35:53 PM)

They should change their name to "National Organization of Lefist Women." Because they do not support all women.

kittinSol -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 12:38:05 PM)

If pro-Palin people are so into feminism, why are they insulting NOW so liberally (pun intended)?

LaTigresse -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 12:40:56 PM)

Because that's all they've got......

popeye1250 -> RE: NOW endorses Obama Biden (9/16/2008 3:25:36 PM)

And look at who else supports Abadabba, the leftist billionaire socialist George Soros.
So since "Moveon.org" is largly funded by the socialist Soros would it be fair to assume that they also support the self annointed "agent of change" Obama as well?
I don't think anyone would like the kind of "changes" that the above would try to force on us.
And I'm sure "officials" at the "U.N." who sneer at U.S. Sovereignty and the Second Amendment also support him.
Anyone know?
("Round up the usual suspects!")

A better question would be why NOW holds the rights to define "feminism". Their position is that women should be allowed to do anything they want to as long as it fits into the policies and ideals of NOW's one true way.

Apparently the Governor and any like her don't qualify. Seems likely to generate more alienation and disenfranchisement. It is good to see the agenda clearly disclosed. It provides an opportunity for the voter to decide whether NOW's version of 'feminism' represents them.

Or is NOW just being 'catty' that their first choice wasn't picked by the conservative Democrats who just couldn't vote for a woman in the primaries? (no pun intended)
