i also have a tattoo.. and if i ever came to be faced with someone that didn't want to be with me, because i have it, then i'd prob tell him to kiss my ass.

mine also has meaning behind it, which is personal, so i wont relate those details, but...

it is located on my right calf,  and is actually two tattoos that i chose, to combine into one long one, of two red roses intertwined with ribbon, and the second tattoo is a monarch butterfly that hovers over the roses.

I have four myself. If you don't mind sharing. What do they mean? It's hard to make them out as well. I'm an old man of 40, bad vision and all.[;)]

What my tats mean:

Right Lower Back: an Aran Cross. It's a variety of Celtic cross where the vertical bar stands for the spiritual world, the horizontal stands for the earthly world, and the circle where the bars cross is the world we live in, a mix of the two. I got it because I'm very Irish and that part of my heritage resonates deeply with me.

2nd one is my dragons on my mid-back. The two serpents entwine around the phrase Here Be Dragons. It's from medieval Welsh cartography. Welsh cartographers were considered the best in the world, and where ships were going off into the Unknown, they would put on of the dragons there with that phrase. I got that one after I uprooted myself from all my extended family and first adult friends and moved back down here from Philadelphia to run my own business. It was a scary ass time.

3rd one is on my upper back between my shoulder blades. It says Siempre Y Siempre which is Spanish for Always and Forever...a sign of my permanence. I have manic-depression and this past New Years/Xmas was horrific, I attempted suicide for the 3rd time - it's the last, I assure everyone, I busted ass this winter to get and stay better, no mood swings in nearly a year now - and it reminds me not to quit/give up on myself.

4th and 5th compose my chestpiece. The right side is a tongue of flame, representing the fiery/passionate aspect of my personality and the left side is an icicle, representing the cooler and more rational side of me. I purposely left the middle empty as my heart always resides between these two extremes. The colors come from PET scans of people during manic episodes - bright oranges, reds and yellows, like a lit Christmas tree, and during depressive episodes - dark blues, greens and purples. Again, I live my life somewhere in the middle.

I thought long and hard before getting these done, and all of them were free-hand designed by the artist I've been going to for years. I give him a general idea of the design and what I want it to represent and he does the rest. He's fantastic, runs a great studio downtown and I'd be happy to recommend local FL people to him!

Thanks for sharing that. I think that's pretty open to put yourself out there like that. It shows a different kind of beauty, one that is to me much more valuable than any outwardly appearance.

Safe Journey's,
Icarys.

I cant wear jewelry, due to the nickel content, so I had my engagement ring and wedding band tattooed. Had soooo many people ask me why I did it. Ahh, der, because I am married?

Your version of a Corellian blood stripe, and if you get that refference, i'll pin the offical nerd medal on your chest myself.  I've told you before, but i'll say it again, I think your tats are stunning.  You clearly didn't stumble into a shop drunk one night in Ybor and walked out with fire & ice on your chest.

My tattoos came about as a form of military stripes. Any time I went through a rough period in my life, and survived, I got a tattoo that had bearing on the situation. Now, any time I am feeling like "I can't do this" or "I can't make it", I strip, look in the mirror, and realize I've fought longer, harder, and rougher battles and made it just fine. So not only does each piece have specific meaning, but my work as a whole reminds me of my inner strength and courage. Does it make me any less submissive? No. It takes a strong woman to submit and it actually makes me more in tune with myself, my purpose in life and my place.

LOL...Han Solo would be proud of that reference to his home system! You know, they don't just give those out for perfect attendance! [;)]

And thanks very much for the compliments - and welcome to the boards!

Was it that wonderful little ice cream cone with the "vanilla" next to it that gave me away?  Hummm I will have to fix that.  I didn't even realize CM had a forum of any sort.  I'm so bored all day, i'll have to start posting more.  At least it gives me something more "productive' to do.

lilpetuk -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/3/2008 2:20:57 PM)

I have several tattoos and various parts of my body pierced. Your ink is amazing. I don't understand why someone who doesn't like body art would feel the need to send such an e-mail. My lil one has a lot of tattoos and alot more piercing then I do. She has the date of her collaring by her first Mistress on her leg. It doesn't bother me. It was an important time in her life. Due to my job I can't have the piercing I want. But I plan on getting more tattoos. It is like funny either you get one and never do it again or you get one and spend alot of time planning your next tattoos. As long as you are happy with them who really cares what someone else thinks.

Yes, but there is why I follow the good old PSA about avoiding the names of SOs when getting a tattoo. It always spells relationship doom. [:D]

Its worse then the Madden Curse, only thing that will seal your doom quicker is getting "no parking" tatooed across your ass.  To this day my friend still hasn't lived that one down, and now when he drops his pants they just laugh.

Greetings Masters from a little one.

I received a cmail earlier today from a self-proclaimed Dom who insisted that due to the location of my body art - 3 tats on my back and a full chestpiece - no "quality Dom" would ever take me seriously.

Personally, I feel this is untrue. This art is not for giggles and means much to this girl and the placement of such was very carefully thought out. I feel a "quality Dom" would take the time to understand his sub/slave and the reasons for such work.

I am interested to hear what other Masters have to say about it and this sub would be very appreciative of the input.

Well, I must not be a quality Dom, because I think you are gorgeous, intelligent, witty and brave. Nope, no ink myself (yet) but my dear ... he is full of sh*t! (edited to correct spelling)

CarrieO -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/4/2008 9:13:22 PM)

Hello VivaciousSub...

Ok, I had to check out your profile pics and I have to say I really like your tattoos.

I just got my first one yesterday. My own design that took a long time to be able to get done. It has so much personal symbolism tied to it that for someone to call it a mistake...and some "friends" already have....is like calling me a mistake.
When I was coming up with the design, I had one man tell me that I had no right to even consider marking my body. He said it was a right for my future Dom to enjoy.  I, of course, said "Hogwash!".
As I lay on the table at the tattoo shop, I was already planning what my next one would be and where to apply it.

In my opinion, body art is like a view into a person's life....who they are, where they've been, what matters to them...to deny the beauty in those pictures is to deny the beauty of the person wearing them.

peace...
carrie

VS, my opinion?  He's an idiot.  Pay no attention to that stupidity...

aggressiveblkdom -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/4/2008 11:29:32 PM)

I completely agree with the majority of previous posts. The one who sent you that message was just a sad soul who felt like projecting his own preferences. As long as your pieces have that personal meaning thats all that matters.

temptressofsouls -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/5/2008 4:59:43 AM)

I have one tattoo. Admittedly, its pretty big. Most people have been positive about it-I had one gentleman tell me its like my soul bubbled up on my back, refusing to be hidden.

A few have taken it to be solely a lifestyle tattoo, but it isnt. It is my MO, and applies to all areas of my life. I had one gentleman who I was testing the waters with tell me he wasnt sure his parents would like it. It's between my shoulderblades and Im a big woman. I dont run around half naked most of the time. Most people never see my tat. One slave couldnt understand why i'd marr my Master's body. My tattoo is for me, period. If someone else finds beauty or pleasure in it, all the power to them. If I am having a rough time, all i have to do is remember what is on my back and i feel instantly better.

silkenfire -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/5/2008 5:33:00 AM)

Fast reply, I haven't read the whole thread ---

I can see there being a problem if any of the tattoos were in effect a brand from a former master-owner that since let you go -- but as just art that you designed yourself (or had designed for you as art) I think it's ridiculous -- it's just like vanilla dating at that point, there are guys that would never consider dating a girl with body art at all. Or you wind up with people like my ridiculously tame English teacher in high school that had prominent tattoos we could all see, but otherwise was your standard married mother of 3.

Some people just can't handle body art and it looks like what you found out is that characteristic carries over into the lifestyle as well. Again, it would be different if you said "property of ----" all over your body or something, but that's no different, in the vanilla world, to someone having their lover's name still tattooed on their arm after a breakup...
