Does this mean a dom that lives in quality street? If so what colour was his wrapper?

My tattoos came about as a form of military stripes. Any time I went through a rough period in my life, and survived, I got a tattoo that had bearing on the situation. Now, any time I am feeling like "I can't do this" or "I can't make it", I strip, look in the mirror, and realize I've fought longer, harder, and rougher battles and made it just fine. So not only does each piece have specific meaning, but my work as a whole reminds me of my inner strength and courage. Does it make me any less submissive? No. It takes a strong woman to submit and it actually makes me more in tune with myself, my purpose in life and my place.

I do not really like your tattoos. First I don't usually like any tattoos, they are in my opinion a detractor from the persons real beauty. As for yours I don't like them so much either - Your first picture, the one on your front of your profile with out the tattoo showing is a WOW - great picture you are beautiful. However when I see the tattoos - I was taken back, just thought it wasn't as pretty as your natural beauty.

That being said you give a really good explanation of where the tattoos came from and how you view them. I find that although I dislike the looks of it, it says something very positive about your mind, and about you as a person. How someone looks usually helps break the ice, but it's the person on the inside that sustains a relationship - therefore I'd say that the most important part of you is looking good.

Now speaking more directly to what this person said... Being a Dom that really strongly doesn't like tattoo's. I think this guy's email was completely off base. First the tattoos say nothing to me about how serious you are. As far as choosing the right sub for me, well sure I want to be attracted to the person but what is more important is who they are. I would always give any person a chance regardless of tattoos or any other physical appearance issues. If we can capture each others minds then that is what is really most important.

Finally what the hell is wrong with this guy? Your profile states clearly on top that you really aren't looking, it appears that you have found someone so obviously this guy was wrong from the start. He was probably picture surfing and probably didn't even read your profile. If he didn't like you - fine move on to the next profile. WHY waste your time sending an email to someone which is in itself mean spirted. The only thing such an email can do is cause hurt feelings. In the end that in my opinion makes this guy the bad guy and the one not to be taken seriously.

BTW: One thing we can agree on.... a mutual love of Jimmy Buffett.

JumpingJax -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/5/2008 7:11:01 AM)

I for whatever reason missed that this inital was posted 2 weeks ago or that it had 4 pages so I posted the above after only reading the 1st page. It wasn't till I finished my post that I discovered my mistake.

So although I still think what I put does apply - I felt as a Dom who really strongly doesn't like body art that a reply from me might hopefully add value to the conversation - especially since it seems to be so different then how most are responding.

However something happened here.... As I have read your more detail explaination - my feelings on your tattoo changed. I really hated the two tattoos surrounding your breast. It just well wasn't my thing I guess. But the Fire and Ice, surrounding your heart. The representation being the two sides and the colors matching the PET scan. Well that is obviously well thought out and a very cool concept.

I want to thank you for sharing your detailed story of how you got your art. I don't know that I will ever be totally ok with tattoos, but this thread has given me some food for thought. Seems there is a story behind these things - and some of them can be very interested. I don't think I will judge them all so quickly in the future.

Lol what an ignorant fool. He shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

GreedyTop -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/5/2008 1:27:18 PM)

Jax.. both your posts were well said..

VivaciousSub -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/5/2008 1:29:42 PM)

Thanks Jax! It was really good hearing from someone on the other side of the "Liking Body Art" coin. Just goes to show that "not liking something" and "being a total ass about it" are not necessarily synonymous.

I got an email recently from some guy who told me that my tats made me hideous.. *laughs*

I tried to reply with: Good, then I won't have to deal with your sorry ass then, will I?

But he'd blocked me....LMAO!!

OK, so I slept through this thread, and just found it, so I'm going to make a completely unnecessary but heartfelt remark.

Andrea, your dragons rock.  That whining piece of shit could only get close to dragons like yours in his wildest dreams -- to say nothing of the lovely canvass they are painted on.  Wasn't it FIFTH GRADE where if I thought the girl was cute I ran up to her, punched her, and ran away?  Pay no attention to those who suffer from extreme emotional retardation, and still do the same thing, in cyberspace.

Igot99Problems -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/5/2008 4:03:10 PM)

In Samoan culture tattoos are a sign of respect, both for yourself and your past.  The pain of the process is as much if not more important then the tattoo itself, as it signifies your commitment to overcome and transcend the pain in remembrance of what has come before.

In Japaneses culture there is a pathos of beauty through pain.  You mentioned how the areas that are tattooed are now more sensitive, does the new pleasure still remind you of the pain and its connection to the emotions they represent?

Not that this has has any bearing or importance to the conversation, this one loves your chestpiece.

GAH okay logged in to the right account now....please excuse the last post, I'm using a shared comp and didn't realize it was still logged in to someone else's account >_<
This is my first real post in any of these forums.
ANYWAY.
Just wanted to say ROCK ON to VivaciousSub about her explanation of her tattoos being like military stripes, and having particular significance. That's how I feel about my 4 tattoos. There are many different types of Doms and subs out there, we're all people after all, and I definitely know there are plenty of Doms out there who are in full support of subs with body art :)

i'm thinking of getting a piercing or small and colorful tattoo, i have no idea where or what it would be.  how do you all that have body art decide on this?

i have two tats... i didn't have them when my Master claimed me, but He gave His permission even though He doesn't care much for ink.

Both tats have deep meaning to me. i have sun over my heart. This one is for my baby boy who died at six months, after having surgery to try correcting a heart defect. It is a sun because i used to sing "You are my Sunshine" to him and over my heart for obvious reasons. i had always intended to get that one right there but lacked the guts until recently.

The other is a tribal wolf design. It is for my second child, a 15 year old son, who was killed when struck by a car a little over a year ago. He identified with wolves, and was very like one. It is on my shoulder, as he is the guardian angel on my shoulder and i know he has my back so to speak. He was a protector and would have appreciated the symbolism.

To me, the design and placement were obvious. The designs are symbols that i associate with the boys and the placement calls them to mind as well

Getting the ink done was part of my healing process for the older boy. i stopped putting things off and got them within a month of each other, the wolf on Valentines Day and the sun on my birthday.
When my divorce i final i would like to get a phoenix. i have also considered tattoos for my two remaining children. These i would also have to have permission for, and i am not sure i will be granted it.

i would not put anything permanent on my body that did not have deep meaning to me... were i (god forbid) to have to look for another Master, He would have to accept those marks of my life, just as He will have to accept the inner scars they represent.

People are more than the wrappers one can see, and anyone worth serving knows that.

Regards,

g

Carrie you wanton hussy... You didn't tell me you were getting a tattoo... Congrats girl!

ok... back to the thread...

There be fools everywhere darling... Even ones who know where the shift key is on their computer.  Your tats are beautiful, and to me esp so because of their meaning.    Yay you!

You know, *don't tell anyone*, while I was getting my tattoo done, I was totally in sub head space.  Very hot groovy man has me in some kind of mental bondage since I couldn't move, there was pain, there was blood, speech restrictions... I mean, I was sitting there thinking how much I wanted to drop to my knees to this guy.  Thinking may be kind of an overstatement.  It was just a pull to submit to this guy....I had to stop myself from getting another tattoo just because it turned me on so much.

well wishes.

velvetluxe -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/15/2008 3:06:26 AM)

I second sunshinemiss' comments about subspace; a very talented female artist did my first tattoo and the feeling although at times uncomfortable had me walking out of the studio in a daze, all tingly, glowing and warm all over!

Regarding a dom not liking a potential submissive's tatts, obviously, as everyone else here has said, it's completely subjective. I have had very similar things mentioned to me by potential doms and on the other side of the coin I've had extremely positive comments from others; I personally LOVE the aesthetics and personal meanings of tattoos and therefore, I assume that any dom whom I am going to have a relationship with would be the kind of person who, if not crazy about tatts, would appreciate mine and see them as part of me and indicative of my life story so far; wearable art or talismans as opposed to something that 'mars or 'detracts' from my natural beauty.

SlaveSuru -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/15/2008 6:50:32 AM)

Oh,  I hate peopple who think just because you have tattoos you are obviously seriously lacking in judgement and the ability to serve.  I have 6 and not a single one of them was chosen by my Master,  they all came before him. He doesn't mind,  He may not like them but as He says it is what is on the inside that counts.  He does however like my purple pawprint,  He says it symbolized us before I even met him * giggles*   I sometimes think it was destined to be,  the pawprint was supposed to be a cat's paw but it ended up more canine/ wolf like, and Master's totem animal is the wolf.

All of my tattoos have meaning,  not one of them is just " decoration"

LadyLeather1 -> RE: Subs/Slaves with Body Art (10/20/2008 12:32:59 PM)

Hello girl,
I have been a Dominant for 10 years. When I first came in to the lifestyle, I subbed to a male Dominant and had our scene names tattooed on my left shoulder marking the special relationship between us. Not one man Dominant or submissive who has ever fucked me from behind has ever commented on my ink in a negative way. Why would they? It is a part of my past and absolutely no reflection on them. My past is my own. My ink is my own. The same is true for you. If someone is not happy with it, they can move on to someone else. It is not a reflection of the quality female that you are. It is a reflection of their own issues. Just my two cents on the subject...

BTW, I did take a look at your pictures. Your ink is beautiful.

OMG same here, especially when I was getting my chestpiece done. I was in a floaty daze of submissive yumminess for about 4 days afterwards, too. It was awesome.

Greetings Masters from a little one.

I received a cmail earlier today from a self-proclaimed Dom who insisted that due to the location of my body art - 3 tats on my back and a full chestpiece - no "quality Dom" would ever take me seriously.

Personally, I feel this is untrue. This art is not for giggles and means much to this girl and the placement of such was very carefully thought out. I feel a "quality Dom" would take the time to understand his sub/slave and the reasons for such work.

I am interested to hear what other Masters have to say about it and this sub would be very appreciative of the input.

I agree with you.  Good body art is greatly appreciated and I know there is much time and energy placed in selecting the right artwork and the right placement.  Good for you!
