Yeah I couldn't find a video of it anywhere.  But it doesn't sound funny from the description, and I have a warped sense of humor.  It really sounds lame (like most SNL skits, no matter who the target of their jokes are).  SNL should have been cancelled years ago.  Honestly, I don't know anyone that watches it.

So the accusations that were made, even in satire, knowing them to be totally *without basis, wouldn't offend you.  What if the same accusations, again, completely in satire were made against Obama.  Would you still not be offended?

In short NO...key word in your post...satire.....It is Saturday Night Live...by definition a skit driven comedy show...totally" without basis" is  one of the ways in which they get laughs...the only problem with the skit...it wan't funny enough..and that, after all is the criteria by which they are measured..


Well call me crazy... but even in Satire.. I don't think the subject of incest is something that should be used AT ALL.  But then again.... call me crazy, but counseling young women who've become impregnated through incest tends to leave that kind of impression.


If YOU insist i will call you crazy,but I hope mod11 understands you insisted.........see that was funny...sort of...

Bad taste but then im not a big fan of SNL anyway

You might have the wrong skit to Sun kittin.

The skit I mentioned poked at the NY Times and its tabloid like reaction to find any dirt that they stick onto Palin. The point was on, the satire correct but the subject matter left a lot to be desired and I doubt any similar satire say about the former first family of Arkansas and the current Senator from NY would have ever got out of the writers room.

Can anything be justified if it can be claimed that someone else once did something similar?

Ummm mike...

Chelsea wasn't and they didn't portray her father doing what they portrayed Todd Palin doing. That skit would have never ever left the writer's room.

It clearly was a cheap shot at the Palin family. The fact that it was mixed in to a skit lampooning the New York Times has no bearing on it.

the point, mainly, was the subject matter chosen.  they could have used ANY baseless charge.... why that one?  when so many people are affected daily by the viciousness of the criminal acts perpetrated against them, against their own will.... they may as well have used rape.  Think that would have gone over any better?

The skit clearly offended millions but I never claimed to be one of them.

again mike...

I said I liked the point and the satire, I thought they should have used a different subject matter.

So why would I turn off something I liked that didn't offend me?

But it doesn't take a genius to see that heads will roll with this one. The skit's subject matter should have never gotten on the air. It would have been a simple re-write and the skit would have been just as effective.
