I suggest you read some history and then come back. Israel was not attacked by a coalition of Arabs, Israel ethnically cleaned and murdered Arab women and children. Syria did not send troops to aid the Palestinian Arabs, Syria did fight but not for the Palestinian Arabs, Jordan did not attack Israel, it helds its lines against Israeli attack as it was ordered to. Egypt did send some troops. Even then Israel had far outnumbered the Arabs, were better armed and trained and were prepared for war, the Arabs weren't prepared for war so that shows you who wanted war and who didn't! I suggest you read history, because they were attacked by a coalition of Arab countries. The Israelis were better armed and trained because they were surrounded by hostile countries. I don't call defense preparations wanting war. In the 60's, Syria began sponsoring guerilla attacks on Israel. In 1964, different Arab countries tried to cut off a major source of Israel's water by diverting part of the Jordan River. In 1967, Egypt massed troops and equipment on the Sinai peninsula and closed off the straits to Israeli shipping. Jordan than entered into a mutal defense pact with both Syria and Egypt. Immediately after Jordan joined the pact; Nasser declared, "Our basic objective is the destruction of Israel. The Arab people want to fight." Nasser continued making declarations like that, and he continued preparing for war. I guess the Israelis were wrong to assume an attack was imminent. [8|] Not only did Egypt send troops, so did Syria. Jordan most certainly attacked Israel. It specifically attacked Jerusalem and Netanya. Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria all contributed troops to the effort. I'd call that a coalition. Do me a favour and go away and read your history again. There was no coalition of Arabs. The Jordanians didn't attack Israel, they were commanded by British officiers and ordered to hold their lines which they did. It was they of all the arabs that faired best against the Israelis and it was they that did not try to advance into what had been UN allocated Israel. Israel along with Britain and France invaded Egypt in 1956 so I can assume by your response you think it is fine for Israel to attack Arabs but its not fine for Arabs to retaliate? Israel started the 1967 war with a pre-emptive strike, you know, the sort the US did against Iraq because it had WMDs. Actually, according to several western diplomats, the US assured Egypt it would not allow Israel to start a war.
