MzMia -> The Great Debate Tonight!!!!! Hell yeah! (9/26/2008 4:33:52 PM)

Okay, okay, I just can't wait.
1 1/2 hours until the big debate.
A co-worker of mine, told me she is having a debate party, tonight.

I am actually excited!
This could be as big as the super bowl!
Who else is excited about the debate tonight, and damn it who is bringing the beer?

At the beginning of the year I was very excited about a movie called "The Great Debaters".
I love that movie, and it is about a little black college that won debating contests and was invited
to debate at Harvard in the 1930's.
They won!
As a woman of color, I literally have tears in my eyes because 75 years ago, it was a big deal

for black students to be allowed to spend the night at Harvard University
75 years later a Black man that graduated from Harvard University law school,
is running for President of the united states.

Yes, the is monumental for many people.
Here is a clip from the movie, for anyone interested.

Rock the house tonight, Barack Obama!

I'll be watching it as well, though, less enthusiastically.

That being said, and I don't agree with Obama on a lot of major issues, I am happy that a minority has finally reached that level. I just wish his views were different. I wish Mccains views were different to though.

LOL. Oh well. I'll watch. People probably think I'm nuts when I watch this stuff, because I start yelling at the TV. :) , and muttering obscenities.

I wouldn't be surprised if I eventually break a TV, before the election.

edited to remove quote..

I'm watching it, and I hope the damn moderator actually asks them some REAL questions.  But I'm not counting on it.  As far as the beer, I'm on my way down to the store right now.  [8D]

I'm voting for McCain anyways so I'll be watching the Brewers play the Cubs..

MzMia -> RE: The Great Debate Tonight!!!!! Hell yeah! (9/26/2008 7:10:26 PM)

So far, I am really enjoying the debate.
[;)]
I think Obama is spot on about Afghanistan.
Is Bin Laden still around?

It is obvious Barack Obama should be our next President.
He rocks.

Why does McCain keep blinking and shifting his eyes?
He looks a bit uncomfortable and weird.

Damn if, McCain does not equal Bush!

cyberdude611 -> RE: The Great Debate Tonight!!!!! Hell yeah! (9/26/2008 7:29:44 PM)

Obama got schooled on Pakistan and Russia.
McCain went deep into the politics of the region and Obama clearly had no clue what he was talking about.

It's obvious foreign policy is not Obama's strength.

pahunkboy -> RE: The Great Debate Tonight!!!!! Hell yeah! (9/26/2008 7:31:43 PM)

Wow.

People actually watch that - what now has become nonsense?

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: The Great Debate Tonight!!!!! Hell yeah! (9/26/2008 7:36:15 PM)

McCain blinks alot because of his injuries from being a pow. He also can't life his arms past shoulder height. He knows war, unlike Obama

And you? Forgive me for my intrusiveness, but do you know war?

LadyLupineNYC -> RE: The Great Debate Tonight!!!!! Hell yeah! (9/26/2008 7:40:31 PM)

My boy knows war- he went to Iraq twice in a combat unit.  He is NOT voting for McCain.

I don't...I was two days from going to do my physical and shattered my leg slipping on ice. Can't run, so army didn't want me.

He knows being a POW.  I'm not so sure that any zoomie can really know war.  Up there it's all rockets and bombs.  No people.  It's the groundpounders like me that get to see and smell what war is all about.

I'd like to see a grunt run for president.  I'll be willing to bet he wouldn't be all fired anxious to "spread democracy" at the point of a gun.

I don't know? I thought Obama made some very good points about the danger of AlQueda in other parts of the world and the mistake we made in focusing on Iraq and McCain responded by talking about how much he cares about veterans issues and he loves the soldiers and they know he'll take care of them. It was weird. He says he knows about war and has more experience, but he didn't really show it in his answers when he had the opportunity.

War is a matter of vital importance to the state.  It is a matter of life and death...
It is best to keep one’s own state intact; to crush the enemy’s state is only second best.

Well said, Sir.

Bingo. It sounds like some people are trying to pass the message that not being pro-McCain is akin to treason and that not having gone to war makes somebody somehow unpatriotic. But we heard it all before, when the administration sold the invasion of Iraq to the public.

This sort of shit is pissing me off,  as has been pointed out by the heads of state here, when it was on Rush,  there is no fucking war, this is a conflict, a dust up.

Why is everyone focusing on this, it is a police action.  Nothing to see here.
