No, conservatism is your religion, as you hold up your mirror inwards, that you have so cleverly held outwards to others.

And there is nothing at all astonishing about that.
The whale is undoubtably one of the largest mammals alive today.
Firm is a conservative who thinks he is somehow instructing or enlightening the others.

Same, same.

See, Ron, this is the major problem I have with you. As I said, sometimes your observations are simply brilliant (as I've admitted).

But sometimes they are disjointed or based on a false assumptions or reasoning, and that's when we get into these little tête-à-têtes.

As with most people, my beliefs are difficult to ascribe to a single philosophical point of view. What I like to do is point out to those people who actually seem to subscribe to a monolithic world-view that there is a basic absurdity inherent in such a position, when there position does not comport with reality.

Unfortunately, it is the true-believers on these forums who seem to inhabit the left-most side of the political spectrum who seem to exhibit the most hypocrisy in both their reasoning and in their posts, therefore they qualify for the majority of my observations of opprobrium (or, as you call them, my "instructions").

Yours in obtuseness ...

Firm

You've forgotten already how just one post ago you said:

Apparently I fell asleep and missed when the Vice-Presidency of the United States was changed into an apprenticeship position.

Again, my point was that if governors like Jimmy Carter can get OJT as presidents, why couldn't they get OJT as vice-presidents...

Get it yet?

No.

He had a long political history which included two terms in the Georgia Senate.  I would be happy to provide links but I have no idea why you are talking about Jimmy Carter.

No, I didn't forget and yes, I did get it.

You seem not to get that I was pointing out how far you had to stretch in order to make it.

You hear it all. I once had a guy tell me it was OK, because he took a hit to to groin in football practice. Some fall for that ... like the girl that once put a pair of tweezers in an electrical outlet in lab, because someone talked her in to seeing what would happen.

You guessed it, she ended up pregnant about a year later.

Good luck finding any posts where I call Obama a terrorist sympathizer because that's a lie on your part, I never said that.

You're right.  You didn't.  Someone had accused you of that in a thread a couple months ago and that was what stuck in my mind.

My mistake.

You mean like those who continue to support the Bush administration as they destroyed this country?

Like supply siders who STILL refuse to believe Reaganomics has failed and want to continue down that path?

Like those Flat Earthers that at first insisted that global warming wasn't real, and then when it was proven to be real those same people insist is not human induced?

Could you sit across from a TV anchor on nationwide television and answer difficult questions on matters of national and international importance?

I could only wish to be so stupid

She answered questions?

Were we watching the same interviews?

The only thing I saw was her evading answers and bumbling around like a kid in school who hasn't done their homework and gets called on by the teacher.

I was even embarrassed for her.

My guess is 95% of the people here are at least as, if not more, knowledgeable of the issues and more articulate than she presented herself in those interviews.

My suggestion would be to aspire to more than matching her level of stupidity.

You must embarrass very easily.  Perhaps when you get selected to run for Vice President, you'll be able to show us all how well you can handle what she's handled.

I'm pretty sure I could stutter and stammer my way through an interview just as well as she can.

And I consider myself pretty informed.  I read newspapers and magazines, just not "Um, all of them ..." as our potential VP says she does.

Considering that I've been told it's a job you can learn as you go, I think I'm pretty well qualified.

If you have any connections with Johnny tell him I'll switch to being an Independent for the job.

I'll even learn to wink and become a "maverick".  Though I've never figured out what Tom Cruise has to do with all of this.

I will have to draw the line at the "gosh darns" and "ya betcha's" (I have a weak stomach, ya know).

The problem with "abstinence only" sex education is that it's a total failure. If anything, by witholding real information from kids, they still ended up doing what curious kids do, when caught in a flash flood of hormones: they have sex. And some of them get pregnant. (Just like Palin's own daughter!) They then end up changing their life plans, to take responsibility for an action they were never adequately warned of, or else they have to deal with an incredibly difficult choice. (and the trauma that comes with it.)

If I had kids myself, I'd be teaching the proper names for their reproductive parts right along with knowing the names for their nose, their thumb, thier navels. I'd encourage them having breeding pets, so they could see the process firsthand while growing up. I'd find ways of teaching them that sex is fun, and wonderfully satisfying... but it's also something you only want to do when you're ready.

I dont think its a hijack at all. What you've pointed out is that there is an over-abundance of rank stupidity in the US (indeed in the world in general), and that seems to me to be a very relevant observation in the context of the current campaign and accompanying polling.

But, getting back to Palin:

I think I'm beginning to LOVE her...

"Meet the Press" this Sunday morning just ran down the numbers: since Palin joined the GOP ticket, McCain has fallen behind in the polls, and five states thought to be republican strongholds are now in play! Sure, part of this is due to McCain's erratic behavior during the financial crisis bill drafting, but a good part of it (according to polls) is due to EVEN THE REPUBLICAN BASE being uncomfortable with her lack of experience, and issues brought up during her short, short time in office as the Governor of Alaska.

Thanks, Sarah! Keep up the good work! Give more ramblin interviews, or better yet, shun the press entirely! Whatever you're doing, it's WORKING FOR US DEMS!

Stretch? It's not a stretch at all.

You were worried that a governor might have OJT as our VP and I had to teach you that it is fairly normal for governors to have OJT as PRESIDENT.

I do not see the reaction against her as being liberal or conservative, Rich.  The reaction has much more to do with the lack of time in this campaign for the public to get to know her and the lack of her exposure in the mainstream media until a very short time ago.  She was basically thrown into the spotlight and this is not a small town or even a state vote.  This is the big league and she made mistakes in interviews and was sequestered too much by the McCain campaign.

The double standards that apply to all women in our society are hitting fast and hard because of the timing and the current unrest, distrust and anger in US society.

She has a certain amount of intelligence but frequently comes across as ignorant and an air head in interviews.  Dodging the questions does her a disservice.

The article you posted does raise a valid point about how women dislike, loathe, hate and ostracize other women.  Once a women is viewed that negatively by other women the situation is pretty much a lost cause.

How about a set with a large hot pool with water falls and lots of cute naked villagers.  Will that do?  We are all essentially the same in our birthday suits.

Such a place exists here on the Central Coast.  You would have to make the journey. Besides, you would have to negotiate any sadistic situations first.

You have mail.

And here I was trying to be nice, which by the way was a real stretch for me.

So let's analyze this.  We have a potential VP who is barely capable of stringing together a comprehensible sentence unless it's scripted for her.  She has no ability to think on her feet, and I'm being generous because I question her ability to think at all.  EVERY time she has been asked a question that was not on her memorized list of talking points she has shown herself to be a complete fool.  Even in the debate, she blatantly refused to answer direct questions and changed the subject to her rehearsed talking points.

The woman is an IDIOT.  To compare her to Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize receipient, or any other governor that became president for that matter, is an insult to anyone with intelligence.

I didn't read the article. I don't know what post it was linked. But, I have a problem with this concept that women are somehow irrationally mean to other women because of some deep seated psychological competitiveness or jealousy. When men don't like other men, there are no articles written to analyze and research and ponder why men might not like all other men. It's just assumed that not all people like each other.

Yeah, I had to teach you. Remember in post # 155 when you were scared that a governor might get OJT for the Vice-Presidency

I had to teach you that governors often get OJT in the presidency...

Dumb as you claim Governor Palin is, odds are good she would have known that much.
