You mean like those who continue to support the Bush administration as they destroyed this country?

Like supply siders who STILL refuse to believe Reaganomics has failed and want to continue down that path?

Like those Flat Earthers that at first insisted that global warming wasn't real, and then when it was proven to be real those same people insist is not human induced?

I'm glad that you feel you have all the answers, julia.

Must be quite warm and fuzzy in that little universe that you inhabit.

And the post I was responding to wasn't meant to condescend to "liberals"? It wasn't meant to paint all left leaning people as having no thought of their own and not thinking critically about their world and subscribing to a very narrow world view? It amuses me when some can stereotype one set of people when the very group they identify with has the very same faults...

But, getting back to Palin:

I think I'm beginning to LOVE her...

"Meet the Press" this Sunday morning just ran down the numbers: since Palin joined the GOP ticket, McCain has fallen behind in the polls, and five states thought to be republican strongholds are now in play! Sure, part of this is due to McCain's erratic behavior during the financial crisis bill drafting, but a good part of it (according to polls) is due to EVEN THE REPUBLICAN BASE being uncomfortable with her lack of experience, and issues brought up during her short, short time in office as the Governor of Alaska.

Thanks, Sarah! Keep up the good work! Give more ramblin interviews, or better yet, shun the press entirely! Whatever you're doing, it's WORKING FOR US DEMS!

One of the biggest mistakes McCain made this year was picking her instead of Pawlenty. Pawlenty would have cleaned Biden's clock in that debate the other night, and would be pulling McCain's numbers up everywhere he spoke. Fascist little prick that he is, he's one of the most articulate, congenial, and just plain charming motherfuckers the Republicans have seen since Ronnie Reagan. Thank god McCain fucked up this decision as badly as he seems to be fucking up everything else.

The SRS would have taken too long, Blue, and he'd have lost his Fundy appeal afterwards, anyway.  Another caucasian with a penis didn't meet the needs of the campaign.

Well is certainly does not bother me at all that she is attractive. It does bother me that she is the epitome of the anti-intellect, a bible thumper, a flip flopper, does not or can not name ONE newspaper she reads ( shockers ) and oh yes, she is a twit.

Its not in the exact quotes, its more in the demeanor....and I have stated this before...as have others...the winking, and the "folksy" talk. Its just this way...like...the half whisper like shes your high school guidance lady.  And the constant referal to Joe Six pack...and of course her assumption that the American people want straight talk...and that the only corruption is on Wall Street, or that the only ones who fear are Soccer moms.....She uses sterotypes to try and get in touch with people that she doesnt understand.  I find it demeaning.

And yes Levitating is an awesome ability. You have no idea what it does for me in grid lock traffic.

You want specific examples and quotes?

Here ya go...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89FbCPzAsRA

theres like an hour and half of them. enjoy...once was enough for me. Im still coming down from the dramamine.

So let me see if I understand you correctly... her personality rubs you the wrong way?

Fair enough.  I suppose it's a pretty common method for deciding who to vote for.  But do you really believe that just because someone grates on your nerves, that makes them stupid and an airhead?

Oh, and I really do have to ask... you don't want your politicians to be honest and straight forward?

He needed a veep that ticked off the "historic" box on the checklist, Mari.  "Pussy" huh?  I guess that is slight improvement over "cunt."

Interestingly, several decades ago, I think it was perfectly legitimate to label the "loony side of politics" to the far right: but over the last couple of decades that title is best awarded to the far left.

My comments were addressed to those people of the "left" who are blindly partisan, and believe that all people who oppose their point of view are 1) evil, 2) stupid, or 3) mentally defective.

If you fall into that category, it doesn't matter what someone says to you (the generic "you"), then you are a kool-aide drinker of the liberal variety, and yes indeed, I much enjoy pointing that out.

This forum is rife with such posters; a "target-rich environment" so-to-speak, and national elections galvanize them.

Unfortunately, it is the true-believers on these forums who seem to inhabit the left-most side of the political spectrum who seem to exhibit the most hypocrisy in both their reasoning and in their posts, therefore they qualify for the majority of my observations of opprobrium (or, as you call them, my "instructions").

And I would disagree, I see this as a fault in both sides, and yet you only see it as attributable to one... funny how our view are often clouded by our own partisan shit..... you are so amusing....

... I've seen so many here jump in to declare that Sarah Palin is stupid and empty-headed. Yet, can any one of you say that you've done what she has done? Could you run a successful campaign and unseat an entrenched incumbent? Just how well would you fare being a Mayor or a Governor? Could you stand in front of millions of viewers and give a compelling speech? Could you sit across from a TV anchor on nationwide television and answer difficult questions on matters of national and international importance? When is the last time you debated a 36 year veteran of the US Senate in front of the world... live?

Think about this... if she is stupid, what does that make you?

Yeah, I had to teach you. Remember in post # 155 when you were scared that a governor might get OJT for the Vice-Presidency

I had to teach you that governors often get OJT in the presidency...

Dumb as you claim Governor Palin is, odds are good she would have known that much.

You had to teach me, huh?

And here I was trying to be nice, which by the way was a real stretch for me.

So let's analyze this.  We have a potential VP who is barely capable of stringing together a comprehensible sentence unless it's scripted for her.  She has no ability to think on her feet, and I'm being generous because I question her ability to think at all.  EVERY time she has been asked a question that was not on her memorized list of talking points she has shown herself to be a complete fool.  Even in the debate, she blatantly refused to answer direct questions and changed the subject to her rehearsed talking points.

The woman is an IDIOT.  To compare her to Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize receipient, or any other governor that became president for that matter, is an insult to anyone with intelligence.

Well, let's review.

Don't worry, I'll go slow.

The poster I originally responded to suggested that she could learn on the job because she was only in the #2 position on the ticket.

I disagreed because, based on history, there is a good chance she may be thrown into the Presidency while she still lacks the skills and knowledge to even be a competent Vice-President.

Every new job requires a certain level of training, even for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency.

That level of training has NEVER had to include rudimentary facts that most schoolchildren know.

Having to explain those things to an aspiring Vice-President with the very real potential to have to assume the Presidency is an SNL skit in the making.

The sad part is it's not comedy but reality.

I disagree...it is because she is so attractive that more people don't hate her. Imagine someone like say...Fred Thompson on the ticket and being as ignorant and uninformed as Palin. Obama would win this one handily.

Intelligent?

Wait.

Is this a "gotcha" question?  Because if it's not fair for Sarah to get "gotcha" questions then I don't think I should have to answer either.

And if I do answer and, let's say, just hypothetically of course, contradict my running mate and my own party's platform then it's really not my fault because it was a "gotcha" question.

All of which probably speak to ability, timing and instincts more than any real cerebral prowess.  I'm curious as to whether or not any of the candidates strike you as intellectuals or whether such is important to you in casting a vote?

If getting elected can be considered a criteria of intelligence, does that mean that George Bush is the smartest man in the US since he holds the higest office we have available?

The article is ridiculous, narrow-minded and misogynistic. I hope it's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, but if so, it's clumsy at best.

I don't hate Sarah Palin, I just don't like that she's on the ticket.

I'm really surprised at you, Bita... I would have thought you a little better than to play the "all or nothing" game.

Of course, President Bush is not the smartest man in the US. He's also not stupid... regardless of whether or not you agree with him, his actions or his beliefs. If, however, you are like others who wish to demonize those who do not share your views, then you are not the woman of principle and critical thinking that I thought you were.
