It's all good. Treasure is entitled to her opinion. If she wants to take one joke which was completely in line with the whole Palin must be smarter than anyone of us because she got herself elected governor and ignore the 6000+ posts I've already made to call into question my character, my skin is thick enough to stand it. I'm only sorry that she choose to snark on the joke rather than answer my question to her. That's pretty telling to me if you want to do that whole 'demonize' anyone who disagrees with you thing. Suddenly, because of one joke, I'm lacking in principal and critical thinking ability.

Status: offline 		This thread has pretty much debunked Heretic's theory that disapproving of Palin means hating her. Anyway, accusing those that disagree with you of hate is such an obvious provocation technique... to try and make them loose their shit, it's pathetic to even try. But I suppose desperation... and desperate measures.

I'll tell you what I do hate, however: I hate that candidates will engage in a negative and manipulative campaign of lies and insinuations against Obama to try and shift the attention away from the economy when, only a week ago, Mrs. Palin was posturing that she was against 'politics as usual' and ready to confront the good old boys of Washington. Seems like she learnt how to volte-face impressively fast: welcome to the Club of the Poor Loosers, Palin .

Just reading your posts, TreasureKY... I do not have to read your mind to uncover that you think that your "side" is the best one and all that disagree with your views are somehow immoral or inferior.....

Its all good, I have friends and family that have the same views as you do, they just aren't as high hatted as you are in expressing them and they tend to listen to me when I express my thoughts.

I lost faith that this could occur on this board long long ago. Part of the reason why I quit posting here.

Oh, and for the record, I've been registered as an I since 1978. I come from a broken home with my mother being a staunch pub and my dad being a party line dem. The only 'side' I take is the one which is best for my family and my country. I've posted plenty on what I think is right and wrong with both 'sides' and just recently blasted both McCain and Obama for signing that dreadful bailout bill (which I actually read) as well as the reaffirmation of the Patriot Act (which I also read). 

I'm believe I'm fair and balanced .. you know, just like Fox news.

Bobby Jindal, Colin Powell, Mitt Romney

Off the top of my head, I could name a half a dozen more and several non-politico's (including some who inhabit our dear forums) but I took the word 'major' to heart.

I look for Bobby Jindal to be a major player in the pub party in the years ahead.

Opps! My bad. I really do like Bobby Jindal though and I would have been thrilled to see Colin Powell on the current pub ticket but I understand his reasons for not wanting to pursue such an office.

I also know from experience that an above-average degree of intelligence is important to managing a successful campaign and executing the duties of an office with an acceptable level of competency.  It's no guarantee, of course, and not the only thing needed.

I agree with this assessment, mostly. While I do think all the major players are above average (though not well above average), after reading McCains books as well as Obamas, I do find Obama to be a bit more cerebral and thoughtful. That said, McCain and Obama both voted for the bailout bill as well as reaffirmation of the Patriot Act and that's just boneheaded no matter how you slice it. It took me, literally, hours to quit seeing red after I read the bailout bill. Himself got to the point where he said if I didn't get over it, he wasn't going to allow me to read any more bills or have anything more to do with politics until Nov 4 .. so, I stifled myself.

I apologize as well, Treasure, I took offense at your post to me and was a bit stronger than I would have been in a subsequent post had I put more thought into my words. I do fancy myself somewhat of a critical thinker who doesn't knee jerk. I accept my flaw and won't even blame it on my menopause even though I'm in the throes of a heat flash as I type this apology.

lol... Even while protesting you just can't get it right. 

Perhaps if you stopped judging people based on what you think they think, and instead listened to what they say, they'd in turn listen to you.

My brother, my sister, and a workout buddy who has a brother that is a general in Iraq whom I respect his views because of this. He has become a very good friend in the last year. I agree with all these people about some things and disagree with them on others... but they all three are very fond of me and know my character as I know theirs and share their love and friendship.

I tell ya what, I am an independent, and I am not likely to change that. As long as the government stays out of my vagina, my bedroom, and my religion and quits giving my money to corporations I am happy.

Well, I didn't say they were well above-average, either.  I can understand your frustration with the bailout bill and believe me when I say that I do realize that people of above-average intelligence, while not idiots, are capable of doing idiotic things.  I think, sometimes, that other people forget that during a campaign.  We're all human, after all.

At any rate, again I apologize if my comment offended you.  It doesn't surprise me so much when some other posters make denigrating remarks based on knee-jerk emotional beliefs, but based on the many wonderful and well-thought out posts you have made, I found it hard to believe you would join their ranks.  I'm happy to see it's not so.

And I can soooo sympathize with on hot flashes.
