It seems from all the threads on the subject and related to it, that its open season on Palin.

Whats notable though, is that we seem to have no thread here telling us why she's so great, so suitable and eminently qualified - all we seem to have is some (well, many) attacking her, and some (well, a few) replying to those attacks.

So, here is the thread to balance things up -where supporters can tell us her positives, rather than simply counter her negatives.

"I look forward to an orderly thread, which will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath"

Are her hot shoes indicative of her pandering to the foot fetish demographic? (though if it is, it failed on my boy)

I am somewhat surprised. Ten minutes and not one post on her merits for the office to which she aspires?

1. PTA (Community Organizer)
2. Mayor (unable to say "Present")
3. Governor (unable to say "Present")

Too bad Obama lacks any experience even remotely similar to "2." and "3." above.

Um... er... she's easily the "hottest" looking VP candidate we've had? (No insult meant to Ferraro... I'm just not into the "mature" fetish.) Although, rumor has it that Spiro Agnew was hung like a horse, and looked great in a pair of skin tight 501's...

All members of parent teacher associations are control freaks. Most parents are happy to just give their kids to the school and be done with it but these busybodies want to get involved. If you want a police state then electing a member of a PTA is the best approach IMOSHO.

Ten minutes and not one post on her merits

My, but we've gotten demanding...  Is the Jag going to your head?

I keep bringing these things up, LadyE, and people keep pretending they don't exist.  First, she pulled off a pretty meteoric rise.  PTA to the Governor's office.  Far more important to me, and what resulted in me knowing who she was long before McC introduced her to the rest of the country, was her willingness to challenge corruption within her own party.  And she did it running on the executive page of the ballot.

Please have a look at this story from long before it was important to stick to the assigned talking points about her.  http://dwb.adn.com/front/story/5572779p-5504444c.html  I imagine a lot of people didn't think she was ready for that job either.

This thread is going to turn into another Palin Bash, methinks, so let's also address this whole 'imposing her vile Christian beliefs on us' thing that seems the rage.  It has come up.

Gov. Sarah Palin vetoed a bill Thursday that sought to block the state from giving public employee benefits such as health insurance to same-sex couples.
In the first veto of an administration that isn't yet a month old, Palin said she rejected the bill despite her disagreement with a state Supreme Court order earlier this month that directed the state to offer benefits to same-sex partners of state employees.

Thanks Rich - I'd like to avoid it getting into a Palin bash though! Enough of that elsewhere

And yes, the Jag has elevated me to the upper classes now, thank you for asking!

but but I used IMOSHO to humblefy my opinion which is also an anagram of errm Shimoo

We need the PTA those dedicated parents who make the world better for us all. I won't hear a word said against that great organisation the PTA.

She meets the Constitutional requirements for the office of VP. She's old enough and she's a citizen. That's all it takes in the US. As I've said before .. if someone is able to get themselves elected to public office, then they've earned their spot. If they lied, cheated or swindled to get there, then it's the fault of dumb voters for failing to do their own homework. As a nation, we get exactly what we deserve when we cast our respective votes.

I love it when you kiss up and backpeddle, all at the same thing, Rae.  It's so damn sexy.     *winks and giggles*

Not to interrupt you and Rae's charming little hijack to drek, Red, but let's bring up that Palin was also heavily involved in getting her little city (which is downright metropolitan by Alaskan standards) it's own police force (and yes, she did make a very politically incorrect choice in the budget later).

The sports complex she pushed for still isn't self supporting at the time of this article, but the sales taxes it generates are above expectations.

That's your Palin positives then? That she made rape victims pay for their medical kits; and that she built a grandiose and useless sports centre at great public expense that hardly anyone uses? Are you sure it's your last word ?
