ORIGINAL: corysub Nice too, that there has not been an attack on American soil since 9/11... I'm taking it that you're not going to count the attacks on the US Embassy by Al-queda operatives in Yeman? Any reason why you're the only one who doesn't consider the US Embassy to be American soil since everyone else, including terrorists, most certainly do? Okay, to the OP: The good: Bush signed the Amber alert bill. In the days immediately following 9/11 he was pretty much decisive and presidential. I think he did mostly the right things for the right reasons at that time. His ranch is green which is walking rather than talking and something which I can appreciate as a conservationist. The bad: The Patriot Act signatories which shits all over the Constitution he swore to uphold. Failed to ask for Donald Rumsfeld's resignation in a timely manner. Lied about WMD's not just to US citizens, but to the rest of the world as well which in turn made them hate our president and lose us respect and credibility as a nation. I don't have to like or respect Bush to have a great deal of respect for the office he holds and like it or not, as a citizen of this country, he's still my president and, for me, that has meaning. That said, that Patriot Act has wording within in that would absolutely allow Bush to suspend elections and enact martial law so until we actually have the election on the 4th and determine our next CIC, I won't be resting all that easy until he's officially out.
