Actually .. this is good news for republicans.

I seem to recall a lot of questions about Bill Clinton's infidelity (ethics) and his supposed use of his position as governor to get all the ass he could (abuse of power).

No one cared and he was elected. Today, all you hear is what great things Bill Clinton did as president, although when asked, no one seems to be able to list even one example. Oh yeah, he did preside over the longest period of economic expansion in American history. Now we see the results of all that expansion.

Anywhoo, I digress.

So .. Sarah Palin used her position to try to get someone she didn't like fired (abuse of power). When that failed, she came up with a legitimate and lawful reason to fire the person who refused to help her (ethics).

No one will care. McCain/Palin will win the White House. As VP, Palin will continue to do the things she's always done (just like Bill did), she'll get caught abusing her power (like Bill got caught with Monica), but somehow, she will be remembered as the greatest VP we have ever had. Though no one will be able to give a single reason why.

SoulPiercer have you seen a poll lately?

While I find your posts to be usually well-reasoned, there seems to be too much emotion on your part here.

This is a "he said, she said" situation and we don't really know what the truth is.

Ultimately, it does not offer an excuse for her.

There were appropriate ways to handle the situation.  She chose the inappropriate way.

I probably didn't explain myself very well. This is not 'my' emotion regarding this issue. This is what I thought McCain's emotion could have been in order to turn this issue into a positive for him. I'm emotional about my relationship with Himself and regarding my family. When it comes to politics, not so much.

 If he had said last night (he being McCain)  .. "we accept the findings of the Branchflower investigation, but even so, people need to understand the circumstances surrounding the issue and ask themselves, what would you have done given the situation. Palin is not perfect and she probably could have handled things better, but she was frustrated by what she perceived to be inaction. I don't condone the action, but I can't help but understand it and I know that it won't happen again. It was a one-shot. It's really hard to be impartial when it comes to family. Ask yourself how impartial you would be if your parents had been threatened with death, if you were stuck in the middle of this situation. Ask yourself where you would draw the line to prevent the unthinkable from happening. Where you draw the line when fear for the safety of your loved ones overrules any position you may hold in government."

Again, not what I think, but what I think may have served McCain better than what they actually came out with after the findings were made public.

Objection, Your Honor! Asked and answered!

(That's Law and Order Speak for you asked me a question and I answered it.)

I don't know what the polls said when Clinton beat Bush. But I do know that hardcore democrats didn't care about his extracurricular activities, just as hardcore republicans don't care about Palin's attempt to use her office to settle the score with her ex brother-in-law.

Seriously though .. as Six said .. I was injecting a bit of sarcasm into the conversation.

However, history does show us that time and time again, you can show the voters a pig with lipstick and they still think it's a golden goose.

And no .. I'm not calling Gov Palin a pig. She'd have to eat a few more sandwiches before she qualified to be my little piggie.

slvemike4u -> RE: McCain/______ (10/11/2008 3:43:08 PM)

Well the way I see it SP she should have buckets of time on her hand after Nov 4th...though there is that little matter of the 5 kids and the first dude...so I don't really think she will be your little piggie.....myself I wouldn't touch the bitc_ with a ten foot pole...

OK, I don't get it, how is this crazy.  It is in context, and no winner but it is a pretty good overview of how it worked, works and will work.

How can you see this as di minimous?  I gotta tell you this is how the shit works and this fellow is right.

The rest of you..............

Seems silly to bring up Bill Clinton's accomplishments before this election, but if you really want a list, here ya go:

Clinton's accomplishments

And since that list...

Mike, have you seen the elephant in the room ? I am so sensitive I dare not mention it. Its tied up with excessive melanin in the skin.
I do not condone such things,  but they do exist.

What people tell pollsters they are going to do often corresponds with what they think the pollsters want to hear, then they go and do what they intended in the first place.
Just whittlin' and wonderin'

slvemike4u -> RE: McCain/______ (10/12/2008 9:59:04 AM)

Seeks that cuts both ways...there are those that will vote for Obama solely because of his skin color,there are those that won't vote for McCain due to his age and/or his female running mate(not to mention she is an idiot)...and there are those who won't vote Republican due to the economy....if the spread keeps going in the direction it is going voter turnout could be impacted,people who believe their man is a lost cause tend to stay home on election day....though the Democrats must stress the need for all their supporters to ignore the numbers and vote despite the feeling it is n the bag...

Musicmystery -> RE: McCain/______ (10/12/2008 10:07:19 AM)

Mike,

This is so not in the bag. Good indications, yes. Signed, sealed, delivered? Not yet.
