MzMia -> Senator Obama /President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 8:07:57 AM)

These are My thoughts on America, racism, institutional racism, and widespread racial hatred for women, Black people, and minorities, gay people, etc. A few minutes ago, I heard about another  internet blog created to insult Senator Obama. There are many groups of people that have always hated Black people and people of color, and I am fairly sure there will ALWAYS be people that hate others for a variety of reasons. One of my new causes, is to start telling people to get used to and accept the stream of NEVER ending racial slurs, hate speech, insults, hate groups, that will begin becoming extremely active. My theory is that when Senator Obama becomes President, blind hatred will certainly increase, and some of the nastiest, evilest bigots will have a reason to live.I can picture an aging klansman near death that is dying, and the thought of a Black President causes him to jump out of bed with the vigor of a teenager. Expect it people, expect it.These groups will be proliferating, resurrected and will be emerging with a vengeance. My question to you is, are you really surprised?
Seriously, is anyone really surprised?
I will not let these hate groups, ignorant maladjusted, vile, evil and disgusting hate mongers ruin Senator Obama's Presidency.I was walking around thinking that for many, this will NEVER end. There will be people 200 years from now, that will still be saying evil, nasty and racist inflammatory statements about our soon to be President Obama.
If you feel you must even respond to some forms of the attacks and hate groups, please do, but don't it allow you to ruin your joy or run your blood pressure up. I am fully expecting an onslaught of evil and nasty images to emerge that may cause many of us to cry, gasp, and always shake our heads. Let me say it again, the hate groups are already here, many will be started and there will be many people whose sole purpose in life will be to spread their hatred of Black people, minorities and especially Senator Obama. Racism has always existed throughout the world, it always will exist to varying degrees.I would expect an onslaught of similar attacks when we elect a woman, any minority, especially Hispanics, Asians, middle easterner's or a Jewish president.Believe me if anyone from the above groups is ever elected President, the racial hatred and remarks will not be pretty.
Can you imagine the insults on a gay or Jewish President?....shuddering....

Time to step down from my soapbox now.I am thrilled, ecstatic, pleased and proud to see that Senator Obama will probably be our next President. I never thought I would live to see a Black person elected President. This is a reflection on how far Black people have come in America. From being brought here as slaves-----> to electing a Black President in less than 150 years. On the same token, I am voting for Senator Obama, NOT because of his skin color, but because of the person that he is.When Senator Obama is elected, he will be elected because of who he is and not because of the color of his skin.
There will be many among us, that only live to disparage, demean and degrade Senator Obama.  Don't let the soon to be widespread and very organized hate groups, hate mongers, evil and racist people of the world steal your joy!

I am proud to be an American, and I would not want to have been born or live anywhere else in the world.
That said, racism exists everywhere in the world, and that will probably NEVER change.
Peace

...sadly  it exists.  I dont think Obama is weak in that he cant take it.  he is a big boy.

I wondered if the reverse would not occur. That -- every diss is because of his race.  It isnt.  some just dont like liberals.

the fallacy is that he wont rep the people- as in the right leaning.   his thought pattern seemed to be one I could follow. - but when he dissed hillary i got mad. when he commented on a supreme court ruling - i thought that was bad.

still- I am not elected a prez to live with.  so maybe it can be overlooked--- BUT then he and his oponent voted FOR spending my 700 bl  that changes things.

MzMia....Obama or no Obama those people will still hate. If anything Obama as President will make it harder for the bigots to brainwash their children with their message of hate.

I understand that no one is born with bigotry...they are taught by their parents and peers that blacks or stupid and lazy. That will be hard to believe when the President of The United States is black.

I pity bigots...they are often good people whose minds have been poisoned by their parents..I think Obama and others can only help overcome that poison with reality.

And so people who are against Obama, against the socialist philosophy and "share the wealth" mentality are being defined as racist!  Old Joe Murtha, remember him...Iraq is lost!....came out saying that his area of Pennsylvania is full of racists!  I guess these are the same racist Pennsylvanians that Obama characterized as "bitter, gun bearing..." sic  whatever..
If you are with Obama you are true "blue"...if you are against him..you are "racist"...gimme a break!

Even if your prediction of an Obama victory comes to past, there is a victory in it for the conservative movement.  As one of the basic laws of physics applies to politics..."for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction"...Most americans are hurting these days and "change" seems to present "hope"....unfortunately, real life is not fantasyland.
My concern is that Obama will be so leftist as a President, supported by a left of center Congress, so polorizing, that it will lead to the rise of a "charismatic facist leader" and Americans, who are basically middle of the road and conservative (outside of NYC anyway)..will follow this person as blindly as many today reach for hope from Obama.  It's gonna be a scary four years under an Obama Administration should he prevail in November.

If Obama wins, Mia, you are right.  They will come spilling out.  We'll be here to meet them, and shine bright lights on the filth.  At the end of it, their numbers will be reduced again.

There is plenty we can disagree on, in how we get to the end of race hate, but I'm right there with you that it is ugly, and has to go.

I am sure, he CAN deal with it.
I am speaking about people that are going to spend the next 4 to 200 years responding
to hate groups, that are being created as I type these words, bigots, and racial slurs.
lol
I have studied slavery, the Civil Rights movement, the situation AFTER slavery,
lynchings, race riots, riots, the 50s, 60s, etc.
Many events were not pretty, and the attacks on Senator Obama will not be pretty,

My point is, it is coming and I am not going to spend the rest of my life addressing nor
responding to the scum of the earth.

LadyEllen -> RE: Senator Obama /President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 8:26:35 AM)

I am caught between quips here

a) "what a typical post for a woman to make - good job they dont get a vote", or
b) "at least she didnt make Error Nr 6 in bringing this subject up"

But its too important to quip - and there is nothing that I can think of that might be funny about racism (or the other isms here mentioned), except maybe the ridicule of those who think a person can be judged by their ancestral genetics rather than what they say and do - after all, racism is actually just as ridiculous as it is offensive, in my opinion anyway.

Go Obama!

Not what she said, cory.

Your second paragraph, is just what people said about Neo-Cons taking power, Congress blindly following the president, going far too far, causing the backlash we saw in 2006 and continuing into this election.

This just here is the most sensible thing you have posted I believe, in a very long time.

The victory for the Republicans is in losing this election and losing it badly.

Only in this way will it be that they are forced to the wilderness, there to expiate the nutjobs that have taken over their party, and return the stronger and better for it.

Please keep in mind I support Obama and will cast my vote for him, with that said...I will admit to having one clear and persistent fear concerning an Obama Presidency, that being of course a sudden and tragic end to an Obama Presidency. It is almost to tragic to consider, but given the history of assassination in this country, the level of animosity his presidency will engender ,one can only hope the Secret Service does their job as never before...because this President will have a bulls-eye on him like none that has come before
I apologise to anyone who is offended by the mere mention of these fears, but they are IMO real and would have such consequences as to shake this Republic to it's very foundations....consequences this Country might not be able to withstand. This man falls in front of a loons bullet and the Nation will tear itself apart in grief anger and dismay, cities will burn, racial hatred will reach a level heretofore never seen in this country.....our children's national inheritance might well be squandered....is this all just a little dramatic, maybe ....heaven forbid we ever find out.

Thank you Rich!

I am putting party and politics aside for a minute.
IF Obama was running on the Republican ticket, it would be the same thing.
I am talking about race and racism, period.
When slavery ended, many White people would rather burn their town down, than
allow Black people to live in it.
We can't afford to let the bigots divide us.

Our country is in bad shape, and if Senator Obama is elected I am hoping he will work
to lift our country up.
IF you care about America, it should be his issues you focus on, not his skin color.

TheHeretic -> RE: Senator Obama /President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 8:43:20 AM)

I am focused on his issues, Mia.  He's a darn socialist, and strikes me as someone who, very much like our current president, will spend way too long trying to make a square ideology fit into a round hole of inconvenient reality.

Okay, I will put racism aside.
Even if Obama has many socialist ideals, we both know a lot of what he wants won't fly, Rich.

Hopefully, he will land in the middle and help us dig out of the hole we are sinking into.
I don't think many realize how bad off our country REALLY is these days.
We need to focus on real solutions that we can agree on.
WHOEVER is elected is stepping onto a ship that is sinking faster than the Titanic.
Can we agree on that?

We will not get out of the hole overnight or any time soon!
I want someone that will at least START to dig us the hell out of the hole.

If Obama is elected I will expect Joe B. will become President sooner than 8 years. There are many people that believe Obama is anything from a well masked racist to the Anti-Christ. The Secret Service will have to put him in a bubble practically.

I don't disagree with you on this point.
When anyone "outside" of the long established box is elected, it will be an uphill climb.
I don't think many really realize what a historic event this is.
This is one of the most historic events of our lifetime, and with any change this big,
there is an up and down side.
What do you think life was like the years after slavery? the Civil Rights Movement?
When the Kennedys and Lincoln were President?
Between the new recession/depression and the first Black President, this is serious history
in the making, and we have a front row seat.

I was joking with someone the other day, I said we would be sliding downhill into a new
damn depression when we get our first Black President.
[sm=welcomewave.gif]  Senator Obama to the worse economic situation the USA has faced
in 80 years.

pahunkboy -> RE: Senator Obama to President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 9:19:43 AM)

here is another way to say it.

if every thing that happened to me happened because I am gay,  then it wears thin.  Things happen to me for being a male, a human, a by stander, a participant.  But % wise not much happens because I am gay.  Yes- a few things due=but I am nore of a human than I am a gay human.  Human is my first mode- not gay.

Now if I held power- any figure that holds power is dissed.  thats how it works. look at USSR, kill or be killed.

as to asassination, the secret service will have a big job, but will it really be bigger then bush who sent 4k American soldiers to die, and countless others?    THE prez who was suppose to get it by the 20 year rule?

No.  It wont be any harder.  It will be a challenge- but that is what we pay the guys for.

Try to think- it isn the peon that upsets world events...it is the "man" who owns the gold.   the peon only matters when the masses rise up in unisen and in a commen cause.    we are not there.  not hungrey enuff and too TV-ed for that.

Worry about the super elite.  the ones who pull the strings depite which puppet is in.

niether candidate will change the status quo.

MzMia -> RE: Senator Obama to President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 9:27:25 AM)

I have to disagree with you on this one, pahunkboy.

The fact that America may be electing it's first Black President
is a VERY, VERY, VERY, big deal.
This is in fact, beyond being a big deal, ground breaking and historic.

President Bush will go down in history in a different category,
and I agree that will be as not being very popular .[;)]

I would hope, President Obama probably will go down listed next to Presidents like:
President Lincoln, both President Kennedy's and President George Washington,
and President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

This is history in the making, of a magnitude you will probably never experience again
in your lifetime.

I don't think you realize how big this is.

slvemike4u -> RE: Senator Obama to President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 9:28:25 AM)

Well pa ,off the top of my head lets see how many peon's I can name who left an indelible mark on the world with their infamous act's....in chronological order...John Wilkes Booth....Lee Harvey Oswald...James Earl Ray....Sirhan Sirhan...Mark David Chapman......Hinkley....though he didn't succeed....the Brady Law was a consequence.I know this is just a partial list, and is extremely American centric...but you get the point.

pahunkboy -> RE: Senator Obama to President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 9:32:41 AM)

- MZ,  I trust Obama more then McCain.    I dont view him as an outsider in the alien sense.

Your point on hate groups are well taken.  Yet- freedom of thought is a good thing.  I can have bad ideas about a neighbor- and vice versa... but how we treat each other- we have to get along.   Thats the bottom line.   Obama is nothing like other black figured. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton. Obama is not of that mindset.  I really dont think he is.   If those 1st 2 were prez then yeah- worry. But Obama is not what I view as fringe.

LadyEllen -> RE: Senator Obama to President Obama! Expecting the never-ending racial attacks! (10/18/2008 9:33:09 AM)

Mark David Chapman, a name that I had almost forgotten; another nutter who robbed us of a visionary capable of inspiring the world.

Lets hope no more Mark David Chapmans are out there, and if they are then they never get chance to fulfil their plans
