MistressSassy66 -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 11:10:11 AM)

Just to throw in a couple more Cents...

Punk and I had a Union Ceremony by a Pastor
as far as We are concerned and God is concerned We
are married.I had My last name legally changed to hers.
It was a a long wait to get it done, with Us being the first
in the state to apply for it.We swore that we wouldnt say or imply
we are married, because the State of Maine doesnt recognize
same sex marriage,whatever....Maine has a Domestic Partnerships that
is for hetro as well as same sex couples. So to us its a mute point.

When My appendix was bursting, the Doctor said it was My gall bladder
Punk stepped up and said run a test and make sure,I was incoherent
they ran the tests(ct scan),she probally saved Me form a worse incident
happening. The point here is they listened because it was known she
is My Partner and had the okay to do whatever. We didnt even have
to show any type of proof. The reason I believe that happened is because
of having the same last name.

I think that ALL people should have the same rights of others.
If you dont, there are ways around it.We dont say
that we are married, but if people assume it,its out of My hands.
If asked out right,I can not tell a lie,and explain the situation.

A Will can take care of Legal matters.
Last I knew Anyone can give POA to Anyone else.
Changing the Beneficiary on ALL Life Insurance etc. also
clears up any questions.
Having a Living Will with a specific person named
will I believe,not positive,give them the responsibility
of what happens in the case of life or death decisions.

so isn't it weird the USA have the freedom of speech..but not freedom to marry who you want?
what does freedom of speech mean when no one listens to you? (in this case the gay community)

It's a charming paradox [&:] .

I've one even more charming.

Has it occurred to no one else that the Republicans are asking people to believe they are experts in the relationships of homosexuals?

After all, who else should design legislation to address their needs than those who know the most?

Sort of makes you wonder, doesn't it?

;-)

kittinSol -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 11:27:45 AM)

They are also experts at what's going on inside women's wombs. Some of these free-enterprise anti-government people have the longest noses on Earth.

This was a very smart thing to do. [:)] (Good thinkin'!)  I wonder, now, for those that keep their maden name when they marry a male.. do they have the same problem that you might have run into if you hadn't had the same last name.?

MistresseLotus -> RE: Gay marriage (10/23/2008 11:31:19 AM)

Haven't you heard of the "log cabin Republicans"??? [:D]

And we mustn't forget what experts they are on civil rights, the environment, and of course science education in the schools.

I suppose it should come as no surprise they are so well-informed regarding gay relationships.

The only log-cabin Republican I can recall was Lincoln.

Born in one, as I recall.

I am curious, however, as to the motive behind the opposition.

I mean obviously those opposed to gay marriage are trying to avert some horrific disaster that would make New Orleans a minor pimple by comparison.

Just what horrible event will follow on the heels of gay marriage, why has it not yet fallen upon Canada, and if there is no such event, why obstruct those in the gay community who wish to engage in a valid, state-sanctioned honest-to-god "marriage"?

there is a very high % of gay and bi and also trans population in canada..thus nothing bad would ever happen. i think currently gay marriage is accepted in 3 provinces.

Three provincial supreme courts have ruled, and the federal government passed legislation to change the marriage law.

I can't speak for bigotry, but it is legal across the country.

It's more the term ... which has always indicated "male/female" union (in regards to the mating game)
I think the hets want the differentiation as to avoid any future confusion.

Have you any idea of how DIFFICULT it is for a het to sing the carol "Deck the Halls" and the confusion when it comes to "Done we now our Gay apparel!"  I mean.. we don't HAVE any gay apparel [;)]

And rainbow.. can we decorate these days with rainbows and not be automatically assumed we are gay?

It just goes on and on ... [:D]

(Edited for a better definition of log cabin republican)

Thank You,not only did it help us but it paved the way for
other couples to do the same thing. The Judge said that "We were
Pioneers in the Gay community".
Because most Judges do not like to change Precedents
after the fact I feel that Punk and I made a
difference and that...Feels pretty dang good. [:D]

....what confusion? Do you mean that some heterosexual somewhere may be mistaken as gay? Well, who cares.......i mean, really, who cares. The idea that the distinction is meaningful is, basically, the thin end of bigotry. We talk about being colour-blind in regards to racism, it's time to be....er......sexual-preference-blind too.......(although i admit we need a far more catchy term). i have said before that what gender someone prefers to have sex with is probably the least interesting thing about them. Clearly, for some people, it's rather mor important.......and to those people i say..........

.........stop being so bleeding nosy!
