*fast reply* For our household, when someone is just starting out, we don't worry about -which- they use. What we -do- worry about is the content of what they have to say. If the content is fine, then we can work on the rules of grammar and the protocols of address later. One thing I -do- watch for, though, is whether the individual has either read my profile or notices how I sign the an email. If, when they write me back, they use one of the forms that I've said I prefer, or address me using the form I signed the email with, all good. If they don't bother, and insist on using terms that I've said I prefer to not have used during initial conversations, well... it does count against them.
