If we all acted as if what we did mattered to future generations, we wouldn't have to worry about so many of the problems plaguing us. Car manufacturing execs should have seen the long term benefits of fuel efficient cars, coal companies execs should think of the long term benfits of cleaner coal (IF clean coal energy is possible, I'm all for it), Wall Street should have realized the huge house of cards it was building with default swaps/insurance. I'm all for business, but does it have to only look to short term profits and then say "Screw you, I got mine."? Where is the LEADERSHIP that will make RIGHT choices????? I understand Obama saying not "I" will bankrupt coal companies but they will bankrupt THEMSELVES with short term thinking and dirty coal energy.
