i drive people up the wall in about 2 seconds.

If you would be so kind as to supply the height of the average wall you drive people up, we could do some extrapolative mathematics and figure out a speed, for you.

I've done over 125 on a 76 KZ900 Kawasaki.. but you said no motorbikes.. (and as a passenger, 140 on a Ducati)

Women on bikes are dead sexy IMOSHO.

When they fall off that's a bit gruesome though on the other hand.

175mph? a new record!

I sympathise with the curtailment of your speedfreakish petrolheadery - getting back to UK and being restricted to 70mph was sooooo boring!

E

After a while you get used to it.  Think of it this way:

When you were a baby crawl-speed was the open-edge of the envelope, for you.  Then you started walking.
You had a new definition of "FAST."
Then you learned you could RUN!!!
Then got your first tricycle.
And then a single-speed.
Then a, what?  10-speed-bike?  You were REALLY zoom-I-fied, weren't you?
Learned to drive and a whole NEW definition of speed was reached.
Well, after that, I went to live in Europe for about 15-16 years.  As my wallet made headway, so, too, did my definition of what constituted FAST.

I got my Lincoln to hit 90 once, but had to stop when I saw some cops ahead of me at the bottom of the hill...

GT - absolutely no chance whatever of me ever getting on a motorbike, ever ever ever ever ever! If Al Quaeda were coming down the street and there was only a bike to leave on, I'd stay and take my chances etc etc I saw my dad and my brother get mangled on so many occasions, through no fault of theirs I'm afraid.

E

I can understand why some people do fear bikes, but I kind of grew up around them and have been a rider for many years, though I don't have a bike right now.  Your mention of Al Quaeda remindes me of my grandfather. He delivered the mail to the soldiers in WWI and he did it on motorcycle.  He used to tell about once being chased by the Germans and the only way he had to escape was to ride across a large gully via a 12 inch wide plank.  After the war he rode the wall in the circus, so bikes are just kind of in my blood.  I guess when it comes to bikes you either love 'em or hate 'em.

I have an older Mercedes 500 E, that I’ve had up to 120 mph on numerous occasions.
I’m certain it would go Faster … but winding mountain roadways keep me too chicken to push the speed any more.

No kidding. Straight flat roads from horizon to horizon with no signs of human life in sight. I really need to get back out that way on a bike with some top end

I've only done about 90 on 4 wheels, too damn many cops around here.

About 90....ave 80 every day on the highway commuting back an forth to work...hard to go much slower...unless the CHP are patrolling....then folks slow down..otherwise on the california highway at 70 you are likely to get run over.

I used to consistently drive 90-100mph in whatever car I had at the moment.  I did have a 66 Charger & when I left my mom's house one day she said to call her when I got home.  When I called, she freaked that I had gotten home that quickly.  So after that, I'd go home, unpack, eat & then call her.

I think that then fastest I drove a semi was my last day on that job & I just wanted to see how it would feel.  I got it up to 90, which was really farkin fast in a semi, lemme tell ya!!!

I drove a new Mustang convertible 105 down a lonely straight road in North Carolina. I couldn't help it, really. My foot just kept pressing down on the pedal...next thing I knew I was going 95 and I figured hell - I need to break 100 now! It was awesome.

That's what spatula's are for.

My poor little truck won't go over ninety without protesting (Loudly) and I generally stay about 80 on the highways.

I did rent a car that was going 110 before I noticed, and drove an Ex's ghetto corvette to 120 before he started yelling...

90mph. Got on the Thruway without realizing it was the first day the speed limit had been raised from 55 to 65. people were acting as though it was the autobahn. Oh and 90 was what those of us in the right lane were doing. I don't want to know how fast the left lane was going.

105 on a closed road, where I fond that I still had a passing gear. That was the point when I backed off. Top speed may have been 110 or 115, but I was no longer looking, I was watching the road.

But to still have a passing gear ? WTF are you going to need apassing gear to pass, oh, oh yeah. LE on the autobahn.

You know it was like last year that Germany introduced it's first speed limit. Correct me if I am wrong.

125 on our way to Montana last year.  Boyfriend was sleeping on the flat, open expanses, so I decided to see what my cute little girl car (2006 Chevy Cobalt) could do.  Turns out, she can go pretty fast!
