155 mph near the NV-CA state line in my 2000 Camaro SS, and 140+ mph more times than I can count.

On a side note, my previous '91 Firebird Trans Am threw two rods through the engine block at 120 mph.

204 mph tested on radar
10.6 ¼ mile

1982 Trans Am, official NASCAR
It was the Michigan International Speedway pace car
I bought it and removed the motor, trans, suspension and cooling systems
Built it into a full frame car
Custom K frames & motor mounts
Dropped in a chevy 350 4 bolt main
Holly 850 double pumper carbs
Street Dominator manifold
TRW hemispherical pistons  -   11.6 to 1 compression ratio
General Kinetic cams, 390 lift, 410 duration (or vice versa, I don’t recall)
MSD circle track ignition
Custom built header
German made 3000 stall converter
400 turbo trans, w/kit, clutches and custom pumps, pneumatics @ 125+ psi
Custom T frames (x 2) trans mounts
Volvo 25% overdrive mounted post transmission
396 rear end, 9 inch Ford gear custom fit and mounted inside 8 inch Pontiac housing
Dana axle shorten
Dished and tubbed wheel wells
L60 & L50 tires, fronts and back different sizes
104 octane racing fuel (or better)

575 hp Dyno tested to the rear tires

I built the car for road racing not drag racing.  If needed, I could mixed leaded with unleaded premium gas and the car would run nicely but not optimally.  I had a map of all the stations that sold racing (or aviation) fuel from Detroit to Jupiter Florida because I used to take the car on trips there often.

Hmmm....130mph in an Alfa Romeo Spider when I was learning to drive stick, 168mph on the Antioch/Pittsburg highway in CA. in a something "z" with a turbo charger(mazda or datsun I suspect), Over 130mph in an '83 Honda Accord on Hwy 4 in CA.(it was a good 4min. before the needle began to drop after letting off the gas), 80mph - 120mph in the same accord according to the cop who wrote me the ticket when I was on my way to work two days later on the 242/24 interchange, 110 in a Mistsushitty eclipse on Hwy 680, 125mph in an S2000 on I-5 in WA.and my personal favorite, 145mph in a Honda crv from 3 miles before the OR/CA border to about 20 miles inside it on I-5.

This was all back when I was young and stupid of course, now, I seem to be a cop magnet no matter what I drive so I rarely go over 80 unless I have to.

You know it was like last year that Germany introduced it's first speed limit. Correct me if I am wrong.

T

Ummm...  No disrespect but, you are so very wrong.

The Autobahns of Germany/Austria/Switzerland/etc. (Autoroutes in France/Switzerland, Autostrada in Italy/Switzerland) have had speed limits for decades.  I could look up when they actually adopted them but it's first thing in the morning and I must soon away to work.  In Germany (where I lived, so my memory is more specific) the speed limits are primairly for areas where the 'bahns are in/near population centers.  In rural areas they have a speed-limit sign that denotes no speed limit.  The German Green-Party has long sought to institute speed limits across the entire Autobahn network, and this may be what you are referring to but, since I no longer live in Germany I no longer keep abrest of the politics there.

Italy (the other country I lived in for many years) has speed limits along it's entire Autostrada network (AFAIK).  But, inasmuch as the only reason they have traffic laws in Italy is to determine who's at fault when there is an accident; they mostly don't actively enforce the speed limits anywhere in that country.

Greeds, I'm curious. What is the fastest you've driven an 18 wheeler, where and under what conditions ?

I have a fantasy of you blowing my doors off on a stretch of deserted highway, than catching up to you at some funky desert truck stop,  your rig the only one parked in the lot, you pumping coins in the juke box, playing Willie and Waylon and sucking on a long neck.It ends with you blowing my doors off in the sleeper.

Meet ya out in Quartzite, Az, then, Cj :D

(I won't mention that I could blow your doors off if I was doing 70mph... *snort)

Cloth walls help!

My girl is in Phoenix right now.

Poor honey's truck is governed at 62 as the top speed. LOL

plus with the satalite uplink they know where she is, how fast she is going.. what the weather is like.. you name it. Even if she has a too long lay over.

It is totaly different from the good ol days. I had wondered why the trucks all drive so slow now.... now I know!

Though I did follow a tanker home from MS doing about 90-100 a couple of years back. We played leap frog all the way home in one straight shot.

Gwyn

I dunno, I always get confused between the tach and that speedo thingie. Besides, it's hard to see either with my face distorted by the wind and g force.
