That is lovely, I really like that idea. It sounds so pretty.

I do not allow my slave to say "it's my responsibility" or any variety thereof.  Every time she commits that sin she gets some variant of the classic Marine mantra "there is no 'I' in team".

I would like to remind you of the words of Brett Maverick.  How ignorant you sound depends on were you are standing at the moment.   Fixin shows ignorance where you are from but not where you are.  Pop on the other hand

There's nothing off limits as far as I know.  I suppose he'd gag me if I said something he didn't like with instructions not to say that again.

Well don't ever git yurself a slave from the southern U.S. Iron Bear, cuz we sutherners are notorious for "fixin'" to do all sorts of things.

"I'm fixin' to go to Walmart."

"I'm fixin' to mow the grass."

"I'm fixin' to whup your butt if you don't behave!"

LOL!

Fox doesnt have any bans, persay. He does occasionaly get told not to use something that he overuses but for the most part he has not had any problems with innapropriate wording. He does not swear, but he was that way when he came to me. He knows better than to put himself down becasu eit annoys me, but he is not forbidden to do so. He does tend to latch onto a word and use it to death, currently it is the word theoretically, to which eventually I will tell him enough, dont use it again unless it is properly used.

Oooooooooo snuggles from the sexy red one!    Mmmmm hmmmmmmm.

Add me to the list of those who aren't allowed to make negative comments about myself.  He has also called me to task for saying "no" on occasion - depending on the context in which it was said.

And although not a word/phrase, I have had the fire pinched outta me for sticking my tongue out Him before.

Okay, "fix`in and fit'in" need to be banned from the WORLD lol.  OMG I never honestly expected words to be able to be nails on the chalkboard to me until i came to Tennessee and heard them lol.  If people want to sound completely hillbilly and uneducated, those are two words to learn.   My other favorite is my girlfriend down here always uses the word carry instead of bring -- i'm going to carry so and so home.  I will carry the grocery's home.  I aways ask her if things get heavy for her.

But to be fair lol they hate when i say gonna and pop.

When I lived down South many moons ago, I was asked out with the use of this phrase,

"I'm fixin' on carryin' y'all to dinner."

This little NY girl looked at him with the strangest expression for a good minute while she translated it into English. Why would he think he could carry me? How strong is his back? What is he fixin'? I didn't realize I had been asked out.

*****on topic*****

Sir does not allow me to say "OK." He feels this is a throwaway and a sign that the listener is not giving full attention. I may say "alright" when casually agreeing and only "Yes, Sir" when taking direction.

I can call him a rat if he does something evil, but I'm not allowed to call him a louse. I don't see too much difference there but he does.

Otherwise, no restrictions in speech. But I'm the English major here, he's an engineer by training so it is unlikely that I would commit some terrible error.

And I am allowed to say no. In fact, I'm supposed to in the right circumstances. If I know that something he's just announced is going to be impossible for me to handle, I'm supposed to protect myself even if I have to hit him over the head to get it through to him. He's very hard headed, wouldn't do any damage. lol

Geez everyone must be pms'ing today.  I have seen this sort of response before, and rarely does anyone get into a snit about it.  just sayn'.

Very interesting. You obviously are ingorant regarding people's spelling here or you may have noticed than many here who both missuse grammar and misspell words do so because English is not their first language. For my part, I use UK english both in spelling and Grammar for that was what I was educated classically in (The Queens English). I am however aware that much of the English used in both the US and Australia have developed a flavour and spelling of their own. I woill point out but not hide behind it, I am dyslexis which means I usually write in word with spell check on then cut and paste my posts here. Something I haven't the time to do at the moment. Don't bother to appologise for it will not be accepted, your crassness goes before you.

I accept that for some countries or areas, going to go may be correct grammar. However when I was educated it was not and it seems to be incorrecr as far as Englist Grammar (as in England) goes to, or so I am informed when I raised this question a few weeks ago with several accademic associates of mine. It's not a big deal really I keep it on my banned list because I was educated differently.

The only thing I do not like in my house and directed at my person are pouty lower lips. I have a key ring with about 50 keys and a snap-latch that I hook onto the lower lip of a "submissive" person who pouts in my presence. My girl knows better now then to attempt that type of shenanigans around me.

You still have your tail, so the answer is no. Not all the posters here have english as their primary language. Not to mention the many dyslexics.

So are there any words that are banned in your relationship? I believe that was the OP.

quote:

Spelling is important as is punctuation, as they can change the meaning of what you are saying.  Misuse of words can also change the meaning, as can mispronunciation.  All have an effect at how a person is perceived.  F.E. Our president mispronounces the word nuclear.  It (among other things, of course) has made him look even more of an idiot. Language and words are powerful, and one can totally lose the message by any and all of the above.
Many times, someone elses definition of a word can change the whole tenor of a conversation, if one does not realize they are using a word in a different context.  Women speak differently from men, and people from different countries speak differently from each other.  It is difficult enough with all of these differences to ensure clear communication, so it would seem to me that one would a least make the effort not to add in any other errors which could cause confusion.

RWL!!  Only problem I'd have would be the same when I spend time in the South when I visit the US is that I start to unconsciously pick iup the accent and phrases. I've been told a have a good "Southern Drawl". Really though these phrases wouldn't phase me in the least. I actually find local phrases and idiomatic speach interesting, often ammusing and certainly endearing.  Mind you, I'd probably droping Australian pathos and idioms which tend to leave most Americans openmouthed not being sure what I have said and what language I am using.. LOL

As I don't have anyone to impose restrictions upon me, I have to govern myself. I tend to be hard on myself, over every little mistake I make, and have been working at not calling myself 'stupid.'  I hadn't notced how harsh I was being with myself, until I realized I was actually saying "you're so stupid' outloud (when I thought I was just thinking it) and my son commented on it.

I really don't understand banning words.

"Is your cough any better?" gets a yes or no answer, not a please no.

"I feel like eating out. Any place you want to go?"  that could easily get a yes, a no, or an I don't know.

I am not picking...I am just using what you wrote here to stress a point that was in my own relationship

Not all relationships are done in such a way that one or the other would 'ask' for a yes or no from their partner. In mine,  he never once asked if a certain restaurant met with my agreement; he never even asked if there was a particular place that I would prefer to go. In that same vein, if I was sick, he never asked if I was better or worse. He simply allowed me to make that determination on my own...it would not have mattered anyway; if I was sick, I was still expected to do what I was supposed to do.

I know that there are very few relationships that follow the lines that mine did but at the same time; not all partners would ask a question that simply required a yes or no. And if they did, I think such questions and answers are outside the scope of what the OP was originally asking.
