quote:

Oh, Gitta, dark~angel, etc.,

Please tell me why only slaves

quote:

1. person forced to work for another: a person who is forced to work for another person for no payment and regarded as the property of the person he or she worked for

2. controlled by another: a person/device/object that is totally controlled by another

Sounds like a good description of a sub to me.

Greetings Iwill.

I was responding to LadyBecketts question which is specifically about slaves.

Personally If I must label myself... I describe Angel as a submissive. Yet those words above apply to Angel, just as much as they do to gitta. Personally, I truely feel that when one gives over to another even as a submissive... I will give over my limits to the Dominant. I trust Him, I have limits, and those are now His Will. I am sure that maybe gitta or another slave, may have the same feelings.(please inform me is I am wrong)

I am who I am. I can either -

a) Ignore these feelings.
b) Give into my feelings.

If I ignore, I am just an everyday person, but these feelings still exist, I am still who I am.
If I give into them.. then I submit to them. When I am fortunate to meet One who I wish to be with, within this capacity, I then have no choice but to be completely submerged within this submission... because its who I am. In effect, I become a slave to my desire...my need... the urges contained within me. I lose control, but the One I submit to controls me... cares, nurtures, brings out the person who I am... and Angel is allowed to be free.

So, yes, IWill, I agree that submissive and slave are almost impossible to part... other than the spelling. But this is just my own personal view. If a girl wishes to call herself a consensual slave, then that doesnt mean she isnt... Its just a word that makes her feel comfortable and she feels that she can relate to it.

she is who she is inside which makes her do what she does and what she does makes her who she is.

Dear Gitta,
Perhaps i did miss something. based on all of the descriptions and definitions, the things that stand out are
a. a slave and Master are symbiotic, one would not exist were it not for the other.
b. a Master provides the rules and guidelines defining slavery, and the Masters tolerance for the slave's activity. if the slave (unit, person, or system) works outside of the Master's tolerances, then communication is not acheived and corrective action is required.
LadyBeckett's initial quoted conversation, actually points out 2 Master's discussing the acceptable tolerances of service, both are correct for their own purposes.

gitta -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/10/2004 10:52:56 AM)

Dear yoursMaam,

Your post is correct, the point i was attempting (and rather poorly)to make was that a slave can be a slave by choice. A slave who has chosen to give their freedom would not walk out the door if it were left open.
As for this post, i do agree that a slave is exactly what their Master makes them, they live to serve their Masters will, failure to do so brings shame to both.
A wise Master taught this one that the invisible ties that bind a slave girl to their Master are stronger than chains, sometimes. He is wise and a slave believes Him.

gitta -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/10/2004 11:09:40 AM)

Hello dark~angel,

Always a delight to read your postings, this one fully agrees with your reply here. You are blessed with much more patience than a slave is, smiling a role model for all.
The only thing a slave would say differently is she calls Him Master, Dominant simply does not flow well from the lips she carries( which have a huge smile on them now).

i wish you well,

darkinshadows -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/10/2004 11:12:47 AM)

I hope I am not intruding, forgive me if I am. But I felt the need to submit this.(No Pun intended... giggles) Please know this is just a personal view

quote:

with all due respect MesDames Et MesPatrons, it seems to me that one is forced into slavery, initially the choice is made for them, and, no matter how well it might suit them down the line, it limits options. given a clean shot at the door with no fear of retribution, a slave will run for freedom

Unfortuantely... this 'world' isnt as 'free' as people like to believe. A girl raised in slavery may well 'run' if given the chance... however, it isnt as cut and dried as such. Open the door to someone who has no ability to care for themself, because they have been cared for or enslaved most of their living life and thats all they have ever known, and they will stay. They would prefere to remain that way. This world can seem a lot more scary than you and I know it to be.

quote:

On the other hand, relinquishing control voluntarily is the act of a submissive. Pleasure is received from the Mistress' or Master's approval. Being shown an open door is retribution in that regard. Dismissing a submissive is an ultimate punishment.
Certainly in either case negotiations and concessions are made to improve Mistress' or Master's satisfaction with performance.
At least that is my view.

The relinquishing of ones control unto another may be seen as voluntary in its beginnings, but when one does such, (and I am not speaking in the short term or as a play) that is where her consensualness ends. Personally, I do not think that a slave relinquishing control is as consensual as it is percieved. A slave has to submit... because its in her to. She is a essentially a 'slave' to her inner being. (point 2 of gittas post, I hope she wont mind me using) She has no choice in the matter once she has realised what and who she is, because to do so would be dishonouring herself.

quote:

a. a slave and Master are symbiotic, one would not exist were it not for the other.

a slave is what she is inside... it is a very deep and spiritual feeling, when she is Mastered, she essentially loses her will, because her will is His.
A Dominant exists firstly and then evolves to become a Master when He Owns something that others do not. The symbiosis is the end result.

quote:

b. a Master provides the rules and guidelines defining slavery, and the Masters tolerance for the slave's activity. if the slave (unit, person, or system) works outside of the Master's tolerances, then communication is not acheived and corrective action is required.

A Master does not define slavery, but a slave is defined by A Masters will once she is His. she begins her journey as a slave when she is dominated by the need to be herself. Only then can she be able to surrender to Him and her actions define her through His will.

A clock is a clock,
but give it a small wooden bird... it becomes a cuckoo clock.
but give it a ring... and it becomes an alarm clock.
but give it a chime... and it becomes a grandfather clock.
but give it a strap... and it isl a watch.

But ultimately... it is still a timepiece.

darkinshadows -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/10/2004 11:19:13 AM)

I fully understand gitta...*smiles*... [:)]

When Angel fully submits to One, she cannot call Him 'Dominant'... He would be Master. As a slave, may I ask... do You call all Dominants Master... or the only the Dominants you surrender to? (I hope you do not mind Angel asking?)

gitta -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/10/2004 11:38:21 AM)

dark~angel,

Smiling may this slave refer you to your email. As for the honorifics, a slave tends to ask first, and call them what they desire..if they are deserving of the title it is used.
Sir seems to work in most cases outside of close friends, Master to the Gorean men is simply respectful, and done unless told not to.
Dominant is a word a slave does not use very much, it seems these days there are to many self proclaimed Doms, and rather than disagree with the titles, a slave uses Sir.

i wish you well dark~angel

LadyBeckett -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/11/2004 5:15:50 AM)

quote:

Thank You for Your kindest words LadyBeckett, Angel is humbled by them. If You wish, please inform Angel of the general content of what Angel wrote and I would be honoured to find them for You again, if is Your desire.

It was a post speaking to the relationship/language between Master and slave, addressing consent. I've looked for it, but haven't found it yet. I thought it was on the Master's board, but apparently it is not.

CuteslaveinVB -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/11/2004 5:47:39 PM)

Wow....being new to the lifestyle and learning as I go has been nothing short of truly awesome. Reading everyone's responses I must generally agree that slave and submissive is the same in the big picture. I have not begun to get into the "reads" yet but now soon will as it looks interesting. To totally devote yourself and give your entire being to your Mistress is a feeling which goes well beyond comprehension. I have learned that totally devoting yourself or even feeling the devotion before serving alone is incredible and look forward to it.

subman530 -> RE: What say you, slave? (8/19/2004 7:51:11 AM)
