ORIGINAL: CelticPrince I have been away from the boards for awhile due to business travel and as I normally attempt to keep up with the mix of new folks coming on to the CM path I causually review the profiles of newcomes. Upon doing so I read a profile of a lady that presented a thome on being a "slut" from many angles. Since I use the term in my profile, it brought to mind the chance that over the last few years the meaning has morphed into an new understanding. Whats your thoughts on the interpretation be ye "D" or "s"? CP This is a very loaded word to me. As a young woman, to be called a 'slut' was to be called a 'a piece of worthless trash'. In the main, women used the word to insult other women. I've never cared for it myself. I dont like the implication that a woman who is free with her sexaulity is degraging herself, while a promiscious man is to be admired. I suppose if it really mattered to my Dom we'd work it out. I know the word means different things to folks into D/s. I don't think I'd ever be comfortable being called a 'slut' by anyone other than my Dom, though. Some words ( like the 'c' word) are vile insults to women. I also don't care for insulting a man by calling him a 'pussy'. To have a pussy is not to be 'less than', merely different. Some folks have very strong feelings about words. I once told one of my gay friends to 'eat me' after he had told me to 'bite him'. His reaction seemed over-the-top, but after processing it awhile, I could see why a gay man might find that insulting from any woman. Language is very nuanced. Racial slurs, etc., are things we've all grown to accept must be used -- if at all -- only in the presence of folks whom we know will not be offended. Lawyer jokes and blonde jokes roll off my back. Being called a 'fish' by a goy man isn't quite as easy to shake off. candystripper
