Status: offline 		Coming from Dublin, some Women like to be called Bird, Chicken , Honey but more and more now even Women this side of the Atlantic find this disrespectful. Is it disrespectful to You?  How different is it to calling a slave my boy, my bitch, my worm etc.  Or is there specific criteria in which one should address a Domme/Dom.  Furthermore Is formal address required always or would hi Ya , how are u, etc be acceptable sometimes. Its an age old question folks and i just thought i d throw out there

Status: offline 		Generally most women (I'm speaking from a Canadian POV ) aren't very comfortable being called Bird, honey, sweetie, etc unless it's a term of endearment used by their S/O's.
In a d/s based relationship, it greatly depends upon the wishes of the dominant partner and how they wish to be addressed in that intimate way. I may be way off base here as I believe that is a cultural thing as generally we don't refer to women using those terms in everyday communication.

Status: offline 		LOL!  Well I learned something new today (somebody write that down).  Women in Ireland liked to be called "chicken"?

Personally, I would find "how r u" or anything like that to be indicator that someone is not worth my time.  But hey, I'm not a Domme, so take that for what it's worth.

Status: offline 		Well some Women do. to use the local Dublinese , it depends on the Bird. some birds, ie Women find it a compliment other one's if you called them a Bird, you might get a slap so hard you would not do it again.  Their justification?  Logically put they argue correctly they dont have feathers and they dont chirp. But like i say it depends on the Bird , i mean Woman.

I don't mind it myself.....depending on the situation. (except dude...I hate that word)

The first thing to note about all this you would have to know the Lady in question before calling her a bird , a chicken etc. One thing that is bound to get the particular male into deep trouble in Dublin is the use of the term Madam. For Dublin Women this term has connotations with the term prostitute , not very flattering.

Status: offline 		I think with the first contact calling anyone "honey, sweety, or sexy" is rather rude. The person may not want to be called these types of names and consider it disrespectful. My male sub calls me "babe" only because I allow him too, anyone else should call me by my name unless told otherwise.

I wonder how many males, Doms especially would want to be called "sweetcheeks, longhorn or fucktoy" by women that they didn't know? Not too many I would wager.

Status: offline 		well fucktoy , longhorn are a bit crude. Sweetcheeks is not too bad but it could be termed patronising by the Lady in question. Bird , chicken, is accepted by some but not all Women as a greeting, the safest is to call her by Her name

Status: offline 		Patronizing ..bingo you hit the nail on the head. That is how I view being called "sweety, sexy" etc by someone that I do not know. I have a simple rule, call me by my name unless I state otherwise. That is showing respect and respect is a two way street.

Status: offline 		my very close friends (male and female) call me hun, honey, sweetie, darling, trouble, buggalugs, and many other terms of endearment.  They can do this BECAUSE they are my very close friends. 

Anyone else trying to call me those names would very quickly be talking to thin air.

And anyone calling me chick, bird, etc would be talking to thin air while clutching a very red, hand-shaped mark on their cheek.

Status: offline 		with men its usually fella or other half. Women usually refer to men as my fella. No it would not be appropriate to call a man Sweetcheeks , that is reserved for Women but like i say its usually Bird Chicken with Women and fella with lads

My thoughts exactly.

If we've no established relationship, it's obvious I've no control over how you address me. How you do, will however, establish how I view you and whether or not you will EVER have any sort of relationship with me.

Status: offline 		Well its obviously a cultural disparity. With some Women in Dublin it s like exactly as you paint it, call a Woman a Bird, and you will get slapped into the middle of next week, rightly or wrongly, with others its fine , they regard it as a compliment
