But but but there must be some mistake. We've elected Obama now, so now everybody loves us again.

Are you not paying attention again CL. The terrorists were specifically seeking out British and American tourists. You may be right that America has stopped anopther 9/11, but your citizens abroad are sadly no safer than they were back in 2001. Nice of you to state charity and compassion begins at home, considering your views on a health service for all.

U.S. citizens traveling abroad have been in danger from random acts of terror since the 1970s.  The danger is no greater now than it was back in 1980.

...i'm sure you believe that CL, but does anyone have any evidence for this question one way or the other?

From what I studied up until 9/11 terrorist attacks were decreasing. I do believe that due to the political climate at the moment Americans and British are more at risk of attack now. CL this wasnt Americans getting unfortunatly caught up in it all, these people wanted to attack the American tourists specifically.

It'll take a lot more than just electing Obama to get rid of 8 years worth of dubya's cock-ups! I'm still wondering if he'll go into "Indiastan" now???

Using a thread about an atrocity to score cheap political points. This is a new low.

Not that you would know anything about that sort of behavior, of course.

That's right, the Taj Hotel that is over 100 years old,
and one of India's top hotels.

Crap, they need to be hung by their Achilles tendons with hooks, castrated with a dull implement and left in the sun to fry. A proper deterrent would do the world some good.

It kind of looks like they feel the same way about their targets (well except the castration bit , might be a religious dilemma but I'm sure they have a suitably gory alternative in mind).
Proper deterant from what ?

I suppose you really believe that your attacks on me in this thread are for the greater good of all mankind?

I wonder if you believe that this is at all relevent? Firstly you made a snide comment he asked for proof that it exsisted and then you skipped over what he was said to be snide again. Either way none of it has anything to do with the thread and makes you look a little childish.

I think Mr Obama will bring the fight to the terrorists directly and effectively.

He won`t exploit or use/abuse the situation for personal political gain or to score cheap points. He won`t allow or encourage others to do this as well, unlike the present pres. And he won`t invade Madagascar ...................or Iceland.................Granada ............................ in response either.

He`ll go after and get the actual perps.

I am a little struck by both the timing and the nature of this assult, then I start to wonder why it happened.
Ask yourself who has anything to gain from this?
The likely hoped for outcome is conflict between two potential superpowers whose progress has been exceptional, as these countries modernise and prosper they will shortly be able to dwarf us financially and militarily, they are already heavily into our markets and are gaining power daily.
They buffer us against the remorseless rise of China.
So who gains if they insist on butting heads like this?
We do.
Try to look beyond the trail of carrots we are meant to see, and ask who is putting them there and why.
Don't tease yourself about the gently treated pampered prisoners, they will have had electrodes dangling from their bollock for hours by now, as if they would know who they were really working for.

I would always advocate reading Machiavelli's The Prince, which shows you how it's been done.
