As I am reading...everyone has their own reasons and preferences.
Master is my age...only a few months older actually. My preference comes from fear...of funerals with me playing the grieving significant other.I lost my first two Domly ones  when they were very young and I figure this way there is less risk....

I have lost 2 husbands who were both my age.  Risk is part of life....although I will never marry again as I am unwilling to risk that again.

Although I am new to all of this, I have always preferred older men. Usually my limit has been 8 to 10 years older than me. Since having a child I have gravitated even more to older men, because at 22 most boys my age don't want to even think about that kind of responsibility. I understand that children are not for everyone, but in order for me to start a LTR with someone they would have to accept my child. Men are much more likely to do so than boys are.

in my mind, i prefer older guys. i used to have a RIDICULOUS thing for clint eastwood of all people =p (not as he is now, that's TOO old, i mean clint from like dirty harry or something, haha =p)
don't have a lot of dating experinece though, one guy was younger, and the Fellow now is older. which i like. alot.
and i do find that i prefer it to dating someone younger, now that i've experienced both.
there's an upper threshold, but yeah... older is good =p

I have found the man of my dreams, he is quite simply my everything.  He is 12 years my senior and for me age is just a number (He exhausts me ... continuously).  In my opinion (for all its worth), older men are true gentlemen.  They are very patient, loving and respectful and they also bring with them experience, maturity and knowledge.  He's my old fart!!  (which I'll never, ever, Ever be able to live down for affectionately calling him so ... hehehe

I'm quite certain there are younger men that share these traits as well!  =o)

i have to admit that my confort zone is 5 years younger or 10 years older then i am. It is just a matter of being on the same life experience page  and i really don't picture myself being with a Dom that can date my Mom

I prefer a somewhat older man.  I usually don't go for guys my own age because it seems they just want what I hold between my legs, not what I hold between my ears.  I've found that guys three to fifteen years my senior are better for me and more understanding of my situation in life (single mom).  More specifically, 8-13 years older seems to be perfect for me, but I can't say that would be the case for everyone.

Now I just need to find a good dom who meets that age range and doesn't think I'm a kid.

If I wasn't deeply in love with Sir, who is actually months younger than me.... I would seek an older one... Just cause I've always been attracted to older men. There's a local Dom in Salem *dare I break TOS* no no no.... but he's a hottie and I'd beg him to take me IF I weren't so in love.

Cmail me if you're interested in contacting him

I prefer a man around my age or a few years older. They can relate to me better than someone let's say ten years younger.

As 50 yr old Dom, I would add that things do change with age and different generations relate differently.  I make no effort to connect socially with submissives, that wouldn't work.
The energy thing mentioned above is, as was said, entirely a matter of keeping fit.  I may look 70(the mirror can be a bit frightening sometimes), but I feel(and fuck) like 25.  Best "up side" is the Daddy Dom thing.  Aging has brought me to qualifiying for a part in a role playing scenario that is a fucking blast!  My age just serves to make it more real and the sex is not diminished.
Reading back thru that, it just sounds like self-promotion.  The point is, the body and sexuality don't necessarily have to become diminished with age.  Believe it, and if you're over forty, it's time to start slowing down as you drive by the gym...you're gonna need to get used to the idea of turning in there, regularly.

It can be part of growing together but it certainly doesn't have to and everyone is free to choose that. I imagine subs often enjoy Doms older than them because with age often comes emotional maturity, empathy and more self control. It's true for me anyway.

As an older dom, I am pretty open. One of my most recent subs was eight years older than me. Most female subs I have encountered don't like us ancient(49 going on 50) doms. Maybe Geritol would help!

i prefer Doms up to 7 years older, why, i don't know, but it could be the maturity level of some, not all, or that they are sometimes out of the "let's go drinking at the bar" mind set. FYI: i'm not saying every male out there is like this, just the ones i've talked with.

I think that the older one gets, the more leeway in age you're willing to have.   At 20, a 50 year old probably wouldn't have been anyone I'd look to spend time with in any respect.  But at 35, 50 doesn't look so bad.  My first Dom was 21 years older than I was.  He had enormous patience, life experience and consideration, that I found was not always present in younger men....even if we didn't always agree on musical choices

My current one is only 9 years older than I am and we still don't agree on music...but we do agree on nearly everything else.

As others have said- age is just a number.  When meeting both of these dear men...I didn't even think about whether they were too old or too young for me...we were just right for each other!

It is all about the ability to relate, and that kind of maturity knows no age.  I am 50-ish and when I see profiles from young ladies that are 18 proclaiming that they know exactly what they want out of life, I have to stop and wonder if they are that naive.  For that reason I rarely look at a sub less than about 15 years younger, and 5-7 years is even better.

That said, the most mature sub I ever met was only 27 and she knew EXACTLY what she wanted and needed.

My last dom was 20 years older then me.  I prefer my dom to be older then me, mostly more experience, and more lasting in bed then the younger dom

I have a preferred age range 5 younger to 10 years older but it is not written in stone,   nor am I so hung up on level of experience as long as they are willing to learn  it is more important that they possess self confidence, and most important is compatibility
