Hmm, I guess lol. I just have a hard time understanding why someone would who WANTED to feel the sensations, would go out of their way to DULL the sensations. But then, I would guess that alchohol affects us all differently, for some it enhances, for some it diminishes.

The one time I drank and played...was more than enough to keep me from drinking period lol. Not only were my responses slowed and sluggish...I remembered nothing the next morning...I had to have it repeated, and shown to me. It was enough to scare me shitless lol.

I thought they allow you to bring your own libation to paddles? Guess I got the wrong info, than again I went too late, and didn't even find the place.
I agree, that people are a little less shy/hypervigilant with one or 2 drinks, but would never recommend anyone alter his perception, especially if he has troubles with alcohol or other drugs. M

Having read through most of the posts in this thread I tend to agree with LA and KevinS. People should do whatever they're comfortable with. Period.

For myself I've never played even slightly tipsy much less "shit faced" as it was so eloquently put. That's not out of some sense of superiority or that mixing alcohol and bdsm is bad, bad, bad. It's because I LOVE to feel every single sensation during a scene and then ride the endorphin high once it kicks in. I definitely don't need alcohol or drugs when those yummy endorphins are pretty trippy all on their own

Edited to add that not long ago I posted in response to a thread here that I loved the post play endorphin high and someone admonished me for mixing drugs and play. I still giggle when I think about that.

I live in Miami Florida was in NY on vacation so I don't know if you are allowed to bring your own or not, all I know is that we sat at the bar, waiting for the bartender and all we got was someone who asked if we wanted coffee or soda (if i remember correctly these were the options) my friend and i both looked at eachother like, ok where's the booze?!! lol

drinking before interaction as a hard limit???

That is overkill. What would be the problem? None assuming a non druck state.

Less judgment? perhaps but also less inhibitions as many still suffer from before and during a D/s experience.

Drinking in moderation hurts nothing in my belief and experience. That being said, I rarely drick hard stuff with the exception of XO cognac.

For myself...I like to drink, mainly because it does loosen me up some. But I get tongue tied in public settings, so drinking often leads to unusual behavior. ( I end up talking tooooooooooooo much ) I would not say that I would put drinking as a 'hard limit', but from personal experience, and just from personal preference...I perfer to be sober, 100%, that way, there can be no excuses the next morning except for my own judgement. Not to mention the fact that I want to feel everything...and being buzzed...well, it just makes me wonder if what I was feeling was real, or just alchohol induced.

You've never seen the Amazing MizSuz with a bottle in one hand and a bullhip in the other<g>.

Personally, I usually observe that if you can't handle your liquor, you can't handle SM either.

Stay warm,
