ORIGINAL: bluepanda So you've taken lives, but you don't consider that to be killing. That's an absolutely amazing rationalization. I'd be willing to speculate that this kind of thought process may be a big reason people shy away from you. I am imagining you don't know about Colombians bro.....listen, they consider killing someone who suddenly surprises you out of the blue at point-blank range, like a thief hiding in the shadows at the turn of a corner who suddenly bumps into you, even if they have to do it with their hands, the same as killing a mosquito when you swat it against your arm as it is biting you, stinging you or when you suddenly see a cockroach or rat coming at you and you kick or stomp it dead out of reflex. Same rationale for "taking lives". They consider it dishonorable when compared to killing someone in cold blood, like duels or at war, like some Western duel. Well, yes and no. My ex-wife (who was born in Venezuela, as a matter of fact) taught there back in the early 80s, in Bogata, and I spent some time there myself back in the mid-70s, mostly in Barranquilla and Santa Marta (loved that town). I had a good friend from Colombia back then, who due to his greed and bad decision-making is now in an American prison. On the other hand, it's been decades since I've been there or even spoken to anyone from Colombia, and given that you live in Venezuela, I'm sure you know a lot more about the current culture in Colombia than I do, so I'll defer to you on that. Given what I do know about the Colombians, I don't have any problem believing that what you say fits. The man's story still doesn't really add up to me, though. I'm not calling him a liar, because it could probably be explained by cultural differences and the language barrier, and that's a hell of a thing to say about a man unless you're damned sure you're right. But overall, the whole thing just doesn't feel right to me. There's something just not connecting there.
