Sounds like somebody whose guesses are partly coming true.  There are millions of people making guesses out there every day.  Some of them WILL come true.  And some of them will get famous for it.  Doesn't mean they're intelligent or that their luck in predicting the future will continue, in my opinion.

Gee, why does that map look exactly like the Map from an old Mini Series called AmeriKa?????

It certainly won't be the pile of dead Canadians the guy predicts will rule my section. Even if it happened, and the US broke up, which in the long term I think would be a good thing. My guess is the resulting nations would be very apprehensive about bowing to any other established power structure seeing the result of superpower status has had on the US and all that. I think Isolationism would boom, more than domination from abroad, not to mention the civil unrest a collapsed US would have on foreign countries, I doubt they'd be eyeing a land grab, or even have the resources in most cases to build an empire.

I think if the good professor would have kept his theory more on a possible change in "form of government" in the United States his thesis would seem more within the realm of possibility.  It's kinda silly, and probably based on his experience with the disintergration of the Soviet Union, to believe that China would control the Western USA; "Mexico", a corrupt country that can't even control it's own people would control the southwest, and "Canada"..part of the northern tier .. eh!  He also did not factor in Sarah Palin being Governor of Alaska and would shoot the balls off the first Russian troops that waded ashore.
Seriously, the USA faced disintergration over slavery and found the leadership in Lincoln who, while hated by most of the north for the first few years, finally found Grant and saved the union.  Today, he is on a pedestal as one of, if not the greatest, Presidents in our history.  During the 1930's the communist party made terrific inroads in the USA and was essentially a vassel of the Stalin regime.  At that time we saw unemployment range close to 20% for most of the first two terms of FDR after peaking closer to 25%! Today we are close to 7% and worst case seems to be 10% in 2009 prior to the economy showing a recovery, and in the 1930's, unemployment was a lot more severe for the family than these days.
While Obama and a super liberal Congress could test the willingness of the American people to turn over increased control of and how we live our lives to government, in 2010 we will have an important mid-term election that conceivably could see the loss of control by the liberal wing of the party, if not the democrat party in general.  People, rightfully, don't trust the government to do much right and Obama's leadership has yet to be proven. But disintergration of the USA and our free capitalist system does not seem in the cards to me.  If it does happen, I won't be around to see it and neither will a few people in my line of fire.

Conspiracy theories violate Occam's Razor, which when applied to politics and economics may be fairly stated thusly:

Never assume malice when stupidity will suffice.

I was just thinking the same thing.  And I have to add, having looked at his map - if the ol' boy thinks that the South will end up under Mexican domination/control - omg he soooooooo does NOT know Southners.  More likely that - should such a split occur - that portion of the US would literally become it's own country, under No One's outside control, with tighter borders than a Victorian prude's chastity belt and truss!  Hell, half the time we don't pay particular attention to what the yahoos in DC are blathering about - much less give a shit what someone from Outside says.

The funny thing about your link are the outraged comments by the indignant American readers  .

Do you think that they take this whole thing a little too seriously? And if so, why would that be?

Personally, I believe there will be small pockets of rebel bands roving around the backwoods of Wisconsin, still and forever, calling themselves "Americans", eventually being given the same rights as a sovereign nation; a nomadic people, hell bent on ensuring that they get to keep saying "ain'a" and "donchano" and carry their guns and boot knives with pride and without fear of persecution by them there Canadians.

Already, I know people that live like this, sans the sovereign nation part.

ah like Red Dawn?

and who says any Southerners or anyone else would do so willingly? or let anyone live to fight? or trading of military troups to do the dirty work? Some even think the government would hand it over like candy, as long as the privilleged few get their own lil part of the world that is promised.

"Seriously," Kitten?  The guy thinks Texas is going to come under the influence of Texas.  Bit of a shark jump.

The link was random, there were many sources for the same story, I just chose that one because some versions do not have the map.

I chose to ignore the blogging comments.

Right :-) . Just another proof that people just love getting riled up... especially when it's over a Russian bloke making ridiculous apocalyptic "predictions" about the imminent future of the U.S. of A.

using fast reply.........

Well, I guess it is a bit of humour. I got at least, half a laugh, out of it. Combined with an eye roll.
