Maybe in the backwater where you live the evidence locker is made up of those rusty old shotguns, but here in NYC, the beat/radio car patrolmen deal with everything from 22's to automatic machine guns. Every flavor and variety in between and then let's throw in the knives, bats, clubs, chains, explosives and heaven knows what else.

Automatic machine gun is redundant, all machine guns are automatic.  I doubt very seriously that the NYCPD is coming across lots of true "machine guns."  Machine guns are pretty much useless for criminals that want to stay out of prison.

I'm sure they do confiscate quite a few civilian-version "assault rifles."  But then again, NYC and NY state gun laws make owning those a crime in and of itself.  It's not a crime here.  The majority of all firearms confiscated by the police are handguns.  Police carry handguns, shotguns, and sometimes rifles and automatic weapons in their patrol cars.  It just depends on the policy of your local police and sherriff's department.  So they're not outgunned; again that is a lie perpetuated by fund hungry municipal governments and vote hungry politicians.  Fear sells.

I was being sarcastic, which is stunningly clear.

celticlord2112......As an ex-cop of many years, would not do us any good to get together to talk, as I see your views on the subject......I can get along very well with anyone, but what I see you saying here.....well, let's just say that I will be more of a man and reserve my comments....as I know they will not be appreciated, and know that I am a better man for keeping them to myself. You are a man that is in need of help!....and surprisingly, one day it just may be a cop that comes to you and offers that help too!

I sit here as an ex-cop, both military and civilian, of near 20 years, and have read just a few of the posts here, and what I am seeing disgusts me.

I will say that yes the video was troublesome to see, and yes there are at times incidents that unfortunately do and will happen, face it folks the world is not a perfect place, never has been, and never will be. Yes there are some bad apples out there that have sworn to serve and to protect. But to bad mouth and bash all that do so on a daily basis, some of you need to grow up and get a life. You sit where you are, some making very good money, while an officer can and I personally knew of some that were collecting food stamps while on the job just to survive and put food on their table to feed their children because of the LOW pay they get for what they do every day so you can be  in a better place and make what you make, so you can sleep in peace and in safety at night, knowing they are out there protecting you and yours EVEN thought they dont even know who you are.

You want to bash someone, bash the corrupt ones, but instead you bash them all? What kind of world are you living in? What fantasy life are you in that the rest of society is clueless on? Cops on the street have never been up to date, with weaponry against the criminal out on the street. Departments do try, however it is a neverending thing. As for police not being able to hit what they do aim at, well as for this ex-cop, we trained often, and even in our off time...Want to see what I can hit? Officers spend more time in classes and training than you could ever imagine. Still yes, you will find and see an occassional corrupt one out there. Keeping in mind also in any given situation it is easy to sit and judge what an officer did out on the street, but keep in mind in the midst of things, that officer had maybe 2 seconds to make that decision, while you have a lifetime to judge whether he/she did right or wrong in it. A cop once hired on the job is next to useless for the first 1 1/2 to 2 years due to all the classes and training that they must go through. Effectively they are not good out on the street up to about 1 1/2 to 2 years, and still not have the experience that goes with all the training that has been thrown at them in that time. The officer that did this shooting, I believe they did say yes he was a rooky of 2 years, not enought time out there to gain any amount of real experience after all his training before he was put out there to begin with. I started civilian police in 1984, and that first year found myself being shot at for what? Because someone did not want to go to jail for their drugs? and for what, $12k a year, and IF I had a bullet proof vest, I HAD TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF. To protect you, those that rant and rave and bash those that are out there EVERY single day to try to make this world a better place for you to coninue making your money and having your families safe and secure? Those that want to bash the police, do so under the very protection that they provide for you every day, so you can rant and rave even.

Those here that bash ALL cops here, take a good hard look, someday you just may need them, and even though you bash them, they will come running anyway. To proctect you so you can bash them another day. You will need them some day....and tell me, when that day comes, will you still continue to bash them then?

Not all are bad apples, yes a few out there make it seem as so....but look at the number of EXTREMELY GOOD cops out there all across this country, then see the FEW bad ones out there.............me, yes I was a cop for a number of years, I'LL TAKE MY CHANCES WITH THEM, AND THANK THEM FOR WHAT THEY CONTINUE TO DO....do i still have guns, yes I do, will I use them IF I need to, yes I will......take them away from me? COME TRY!

You have painted a very elaborate picture, holding out not only yourself, but the vast majority of other officers, as being victims and martyrs.

You have also failed utterly at providing any examples of anything that equates with, or even resembles, selfless service to your constituents.

So what numerous good and selfless deeds can be attributed to you in your 20 or more years of service to your fellow citizens?

There is reason for the strong and negative comments about those that have chosen your profession. History and experience.

Question for you. As part of your training are you taught how to maneuver, manipulate or trick people into giving up their rights? As a for instance how many citizens you had pulled over for allegedly routine traffic stops did you unlawfully and unethically intimidate into letting you search their vehicle?

NormalOutside -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/7/2009 9:57:39 PM)

That poor man was murdered, and yes it's sad, but it's becoming very common.  The police state many have feared was coming is now here, and all indications point at it getting more and more consolidated and entrenched.  The western world, the UK, and many other countries are falling in line.  The constitution of the US has been amended and canceled and re-written in the last 8 or so years, and will continue to be.  Many of our rights are rights no longer.  We can be shot by the very people who we hired to work for us.  It's the government, the banks, the corporations, the police, and the military against the citizens.  If you think you're winning, you're already out of the game.

UncleNasty -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/7/2009 10:14:15 PM)

Many things have happened in relation to the ways our goverments at all levels comprot themselves in relation to the constitution. But amending it has not happened.

Many of the policies intiated by the most recent, and previous, presidential adminstrations would in no way whatsoever have held up to the rigors of that process.

Uncle Nasty

NormalOutside -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/7/2009 10:19:05 PM)

I guess "amend" is the wrong word, as when used in the same sentence as "the Constitution" it has a specific meaning.  I meant "alter".  As in, some of it is gone.

UN, sorry this poster did not brag or proudly boast here about his accomplishments "on the job".  i am sure he had his reason.  alot of the boys & girls in blue do not like to blow their own horns, so to speak!  i am proud of my profession and what i do, like the night i pulled the 2 frat boys off the vomiting unconscious female college student struggling to breath while they were taking turns shoving their cocks in her mouth while the other held her down, was not my accomplishment, but my fucking duty.  then when i sat in on the witness stand for 3 days answering questions as to the guilt or innocence of one of the poor excuses for a human being that plead not guilty even though his fellow frat brother copped a plea because he knew he was guilty and both were caught red handed!  the jury found the dumb ass guilty and he was sentenced to 5 years in prison for crimes against nature, not rape.  within 6months of his release this sleeze bag raped and half beaten to death a young woman in new jersey.  guess who caught his filfthy ass again?...another sorry good for nothing cop!.....go figure!

yes in the video that cop did wrong!  i do not deny that.  but do not heap all cops in one basket.  that boat don't fucking float!

you see many of the things we do, is just what i said, OUR DUTY!  we do not share it or brag about it, we just do it!

I remember I was walking to work close to "downtown" from my apartment on Floyd Avenue in the Fan District in Richmond, Va. This  was around 8:30 AM. This black sedan pulls up next to me, and this greaser-looking dude gets out, grabs me, and throwps me up against the car. I protested, and this fuck said, "Shut up or I'll shove this knife up your ass."

It was then that I understood that the Pigs aren't there to "protect" me. They are there to act out their fucked-up power trips.

I'm thrilled, gwynvyd, that you get kicks from fantasizing about Pigs.
You all can stay the fuck away from me.

What the fuck does that story have to do with cops?

As for the people complaining about bad experiences... well no shit. The corrupt cops are the ones that fuck around with people. The decent ones generally leave you alone unless you screw up. I'm not denying there are some screwy people around... but hey it's bound to happen.

~FR~

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when some of the cop haters on this thread (and others like it) ever get pulled over and spout their same rhetoric to the cop that has stopped them.....

Lynnxz -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 12:32:03 AM)

They'll probably tell you they DO tell the cops all of this crap... but I doubt it actually happens.

Oh, yeah, right, it's bound to happen that somebody is just bopping down the street and some pigs drive up and fuck with him for no reason.

They'll still announce to anyone that'll listen that american citizenry does not need police forces to enforce the law. People are apt to displays of macho elitism, but then again, these people tend not to have a full comprehension of the realities of life should they not have that safety net. Perhaps they could take care of any given situation, afterall, these superhumans may enjoy seeing gated communities where the affluent could afford to pay for protection from the various predatory offenders out there on our streets, but it'll be average joe public who will ultimately pay the price - by being fodder to such predators and those that are truly defenceless.

MistressONYX -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 12:51:00 AM)

Once years ago a police officer saved me. I made a mistake and went to a strange city. I was young and scared. I was in a very very dangerous place. He drove me to various places for young people to get help. None of them would help me even get food. This Policeman took $5 out of his own wallet so I could by an apple and a sandwich. Drove me to the outside of town and made sure I got on a Greyhound bus home.

I will never forget that. Without his help I would most likely have been raped multiple times and left dead some place.

People are people and some are good.

NormalOutside -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 12:56:35 AM)

Stories about good things police officers did doesn't change the fact that there is a CLEAR trend toward more control in the hands of the government, police, and military, and less control in the hands of citizens.  When we are controlled by the people we hired to make our lives better, and sometimes even shot to death by them, there is a HUGE problem in society.  Yes, police officers rescue cats from rooftops.  They also gun down men, women, and children on a regular basis.  The police state is already here.  We are NOT free.

you are friggin nuts!  the police are citizens and taxpayers too!  there are bad cops, yes!  these bad cops, do not equal a police state!  if you see or witness a corrupt cop, file a complaint!  that is the right of every citizen.

E2Sweet -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 1:22:06 AM)

I've always felt that one of the fundamental flaws of our society is the failure of each of us (or each of our households perhaps) to handle our personal protection, instead of hiring on a small uniformed army to police us. I've met too many police officers in person that I gathered were not even emotionally mature enough to handle the job they were being paid to do. So many seem to be seduced by the power the job affords them that its hard to trust any of them for fear of what evil and/or stupidity they may actually be capable of.

Its unfortunate this day and age that seeing the uniform doesn't automatically mean 'he's a good guy'... More and more often, it seems it means the exact opposite.
