I love butterflies... except when my room became a hatching factory for butterflies omg larvas all over the place ewwwwwwwwwww that's when I realized the wonders of hoovers. Note to self: keep birdfood in CLOSED wrappings otherwise it might just become alive...ANYHOW
the subtle part..it took me a while to come up with that word but it is a part of my personality (not in a negative way) so subtlebutterfly it is

I wonder all the time what some people are thinking, when I see their online names.  Then again, I get mail fairly often tellng me to stop being defiant LOL.  I've considered changing my own nick, but I've worn it so long, its sort of a nice fit.

While I am not a cat person in the least, my nick came from part of my real name (monica) and my grandmother' maiden name (wildcat).  It suits me quite well, in spite of the feline squickiness.    In spite of my submissive nature and the number of emails from subs/slaves that the nick seems to generate, I ain't changin' it.  So

On an interesting side note, I live for when daddy calls me "dammit woman!"  This means that I am doing my job.  IF by chance I wanted a new nick, that would be it.

My name...well, NuevaVida...means new life.  It seemed fitting after a tumultuous and ridiculously long divorce was finalized, and after my former owner let me go.  I wanted something that represented hope and possibilities, and I wanted it Spanish to reflect my heritage.  Actually in Spain they would say La Vida Nueva, but I'm dyslexic!

When I joined the site here, I wanted a new nic, but was stumped.  Not liking the sound of "stumped", I then heard my windchimes blowing in the wind outside.  I went with it, and threw in the "y" just for the heck of it.

I like to say I hang from trees and tinkle in the wind.

Nature lover that I am, I find that a fantastic image.

Like the OP, mine is just a label of me. I wanted it to sound like my own name - so that it's a short, sweet conversion when I "get real". So it's the first letter and similar sounds.

As for the extreme names, I think some are trying to creat their image (the most this or that they can imagine) and others take whatever key words and phrases mean D/s to them.... and many seem to regret their selection.

Mine is a song by David Bowie. I'm a Bowie fan and I thought it sounded kewl for a s/n. It has no other meaning behind it.

When I was 16 and introduced to the mIRC Bondage.Com server I had to choose a Nick Name and well, I wanted something that sounded Stong and would sound Cool and Dark and Masterful. So I chose LordSteel and Thus I was, and very proud of my name and lived this little persona of LordSteel.

Then after a year or so I started to see the silly concept within it. I was not a Lord, and it was an Honorific that I did not think I should require others to call me just because I put it in my name.

I don't see the point in putting Lord, Sir, Master, or Dom in your nickname. I think if you have to tell everyone what you are then you must not be doing a very good job at it.

So I dropped it to JustSteel and then Steel. When I joined here I Tried Steel but it would not let me have it so I decided to associate myself with where I was from so as not to confuse other people who might now Steel

So I became SteelofUtah.

Easy Story.

Mine is a name that people in the lifestyle gave Me after I moved to GA.  There are several reasons for it, most of which I've talked about on the boards before and would probably bore most of the folks here to death.  Every once in a while, someone will ask Me the story behind it.  Most think it makes a lot of sense when they get to know Me.

What inspires some to come up with the names that they use, I couldn't say.  Some of the more outrageous ones make Me more inclined to ignore what they have to say.  Still, that's more a fault of My own than something that person types up on a screen.

My screename was made when I was new here (duh) and I had no experience whatsoever. I thought it portrayed what I was. A green eyed dreamer of things to come. Funny, people shorten mine to green eye all the time and I can't figure out why you would use the adjective rather than the noun? Anyway, it stuck and I like it. Master likes it too... it's staying I suppose...

The word "pact" is a strong one and carries with it the implications of devotion, loyalty, and commaradarie. It's a good thing to have as part of making a first impression.

Hibiscus is the name of my business (the jewelry/knits one) and it got stuck to me.  So, I am Hibiscus on the doll boards, and LH here because just plain Hib was already taken.  FrancineHibiscus in the emails...  Pretty ordinary reason!  My old nic of DominantPrincess suits me way better, and is a better descriptor of my personality, but I'm Hib for good now!

I'm tall and my name is Simon.  Simple really.

Thought quite a lot of my close friends call me Big Si.  And, Long Si was my football club nick back at University.

I used to be BigSi2008 elsewhere but thought 2009 might be appropriate given that I was heading in to a New Year.

My computer game nickname is generally Mogul.  Not because I'm a fan of skiing or have loads of wealth.  Just because I like the word.

Why would you be embarrassed?  It is a good name.... as good as any other.  I got mine because LadyPact got Hers   I came to be known as MrPact and then simply MrP.  So I added My birth year after and got MisterP61.
