I really wonder if subs feel
welcome enough to open a new thread
to question something, or respond
on the forum??

Warm Greeting

I started posting from the first day I realized CM had messageboards, but I'm overly talkative in everyday life anyhow. I was a little nervous about making the thread where I asked about preparing for a session, but it was so well recieved and everyone was so nice that the nervouseness quickly faded.

I hope others are having the same experience, since the feedback I've gotten from others, and especially other subs who have already beentheredonethat with whatever question I'm asking, has been very helpful.

I've found it's only a small percentage of the total membership in groups and message boards that actually do any posting. The majority just reads. That's going to include doms, subs, slaves, switches and I don't think it'll focus on one more than another. Some people just aren't comfortable with posting and prefer to quietly read and learn that way. It's a people thing I think more than an identity/orientation thing.

Yeah, I agree, that's a people-thing rather than an orientation-thing.
Sometimes I don't feel like I know enough to make a worthwhile response, so I usually just read.

i look at posting like i do apple picking - if i am scared to pluck a rotten apple from the tree why bother going apple picking. Toss the rotten ones aside and reach higher

I've spent way more time here reading than posting and with the exception of the Polls and Other Random Stupidity section, I don't generally respond unless I feel my thoughts and views might benefit someone in some way.

I wouldnt know, nor would calculate the factor in if they feel comfortable to posting. Many people just do not want to for their own reasons.

Personally I find Cm to be a good place to post, and am the type of personality that does post.

My own personal observation in response to the question being posed. To those that would find fault with my post, why should I care what you think, you have given me reason not to care about your negative opinions and elitist jusdgments.

Having done this, started a few of my threads. Reaction varies. Good advice, constructive criticism but in some were criticisms designed solely to demean or just post negative opinion.
If a sub/slave is looking for answers or insight, some instances they are put down, dismissed or feeling a hell of a lot worst after the OP.
It does seem some time, its just best to not pose an original post. It opens an individual up for having their own observations and perceptions to ridicule.
A small majority actually care how they post, but others I have found do not really give a damn what a sub/slave thinks.
Then of course there is the doubt that is instilled within the conscience of the sub/slave wanting only insight. Then we come back to some people not caring what effect their posts have on someone else.
Personally, such individuals that post or only wanting an emotional response or a chance to spread their own misery by making others miserable.
There are also posts made in reply that are made to cause another individual hardship. They might get off on  making others feel worst than they did before. If an individual does not react the way that was intended, they will either continue to push buttons until they get the reaction they want or they are just dismissive.
For some its just a game to them.
There are those that are nice to give an honest opinion based upon experience or based on insight gained from another source and posted again to help a sub/slave out.
Then of course there is the instances of uninvited judgment but some feel it is their right and really do not give a rat's-ass how it makes others feel, only that they feel better about themselves because they have made someone else feel lousy.
You would think those that have been in the forum the longest would be more helpful, but that is not always the case its beneath them to respond to lowly sub/slave.
Why would any sub/slave post a question to gain some insight, when there is a chance that they might get raked through the coals? Because, they are unable to ask anyone near to them because it might be misinterpreted. Thus they come to the forum to post such questions. Instead of advice, by some they get daggers, but others offer honey.
Perhaps it is just safer to search for the answers than to post.
There are just too many individuals that just don't care to be helpful.
I believe since coming here there is maybe 15% of the total membership that really do care to help someone new or returning to the lifestyle.
It is worth the risk to have someone of that 15% answer a sub/slaves inquiry.

My own personal observation in response to the question being posed. Don't like it, you didn't have to read it or reply to it.

GoddessTeaze,

Daddy and I have had this profile for quite awhile.  I read regularly, but I don't respond unless I have something new to add to the discussion.  If another poster has adequately stated my own thoughts, I don't feel the need to retype virtually the same thing.

As for asking questions, Daddy and I have found that we talk through our own stuff.  We communicate our issues well.  If I have some kind of issue I turn to him way before I would ever turn here. It's not that I don't think valuable advice can be found on collarme, it's just that we haven't had many issues to begin with.  We also have a large group of real time scene friends.  Much of the skills we've learned and relationship dynamics we've observed, have come from observing them.  We are also active in clubs, munches, ets.

Now, I'm just starting to explore the "gothic lolita" world, so I'm seeking advice through a new real time friend I've just met.  She has reffered me to some excellent books and websites to explore.  I may end up posting there or I may not.

So, all in all, I'm not afraid or intimidated to post.  If I feel my thoughts will be valuable, and haven't been said a bajillion times already, I add them.

Cheers,
Daddy's Ballerina, e

Some people are comfortable putting themselves out there , and some aren't .   Don't think it has anything to do with orientation though  ?

I've never had any problems responding to threads on messageboards here or on any others. I never post my own because I simply never have anything to ask but if I did I would post.

I post when I feel I have something to contribute.  Mostly, though, I like to lurk and read.

Most internet forums are doing really well if there's a 20% posting percentage.

Well, I just tend to lurk forums everywhere at first, then once I'm comfortable post, regardless of the subject of thread or the point of the forum.

I read this forum for years before I first posted. I was really glad to have the resource, even though I was too shy to post ( or for most of that time, act on the information! )

I read more then I write, but I'm trying to add/ask more. For me it feels like a form of social anxiety. I used to get that IRL quite badly but managed to beat it back, but for some reason it seems to raise it's head when I'm posting online. So I'm going to tackle it the way I did IRL; keep doing it until I prove to myself that it's no big deal if somebody happens to disagree or think my question is stupid.

I don't think it makes any difference if you are sub or Dom. Master has a profile here and I know that in all his time here (5 years + ) he has only ever made 1 post. Some people prefer just to read.

We are members of a car forum and of all the members only 22% have ever made a posting. Most just read the posts of others.

goede morgen / good morning Teaze

many. I get often messages from people reading the forum..but not posting.
I ask why they message me the question and not post it on the forum.
More opinions is better then just mine.
Mostly they say...they don't like to be treated as sometimes happens on the forum. They are afraid they get laughed at.
And lets be honest...that does happen.
