When I first saw this thread, I thought someone else had started it.  When I realized it was you, DC, I was expecting something more along the lines of seeing the virgin mary in your dryer lint!!  But that might just be the ativan talking.

I thought the same thing, Linea

I'm sure she'll make an appearance... unless she doesn't do laundry.

But dc is right, sometimes the lint is prettier than the items laundered.

A thread about lint. hum go figure. I clean my lint trap after I use the dryer. Less likely to have a fire that way. [:D]

Sometimes I find cat hair in mine.

That's OK.  Just as long as you don't find the whole cat in it.....   [:)]

Another use for dryer lint...

Remember that show "Mama's Family"?  (geeeez, I loved it, it was hilarious!!)   When the daughter-in-law Naomi had her baby, their neighbor Iola (who was always making crafts of some sort or another) made a picture of  'Little Bo Peep' from dryer lint to hang in the nursery.   *sigh*    If only I was so clever .....

Picture it...... Sicily, 1912...... a lovely peasant girl.....  No, wait.  That's another TV show.......

Picture this.  The next time your local church or school has a Craft Fair, someone brings framed dungeon scenes made from dryer lint.  I wonder how those would sell?.......

lighthearted -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it was. (1/19/2009 7:09:09 PM)

I washed and dried a blanket once and so much lint came out of they dryer it was enough for a whole 'nother blanket.

I don't know, but it would be fabulous to watch folks' reactions!

HEY!
"whole 'nother" is MY phrase!!!!!

Freakin' George Lucas stole it from me in "Star Wars".  Rat bastard, I didn't even get a dime from him!

But lint IS fun to play with: it burns very quickly :D

I dont have much lint to deal with (since my washer died I do my laundry at work)............... but cat hair?? I could build an entire herd of cats with just whats under the sofa

My suggestion don't wash and dry the cat(sorry couldn't resist).
If the pockets of pants are not emptied i find alot of things.......best find i was washing my sons laundry and had a $20 in the dryer.

dcnovice -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/19/2009 8:07:39 PM)

Was it still usable?

You should bump this thread every few months, DC.  We'll use it as an economic litmus test.  When people start replying with actual uses for the stuff, we'll know the recession has become a depression.

(Except as fire starting material.  It really is very good to have a little bit in the hiking gear)

briarrosethorne -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/19/2009 8:13:46 PM)

I am a nanny for 2 boys under the age of 10....I find fascinating things in the dryer from paper and glitter to rocks and nuts and screws... plenty of cat hair... *nods and also wonders if one could spin lint into yarn*

Thanks, BR! Somehow I'd missed that one.

KMsAngel -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/19/2009 11:17:43 PM)

lint = firestarter
lint in quilt = firestarter

ergo: don't use lint in quilt!

my god, she hasn't shown up yet!

SilverMark -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/20/2009 1:49:51 AM)

My stores have replaced house fulls of furniture due to fires started by lint that wasn't cleaned out of the lint traps in dryers. Makes you wonder about the cleanliness of folks not to mention mental capacity!....
I  hate sticking my hand in my jeans pockets to pull out change and having that stuff come out with the change....
