I was thinking along the lines of LB and Greedy. Come on people hasn't anyone seen Jesus in their lint.

You have heard the term of a dryer eating socks.  True story

Was unloading a dryer full of whites, ya know the load that has a zillion pair of boys white socks. Was trying to get one that seemed stuck in the back. I finally got a flashlight, since the dryer was in a not so well lit basement.  The rubber seal of the dryer had worn away so much there a noticable opening (no wonder it took the dryer forever to dry) I bet I found about 10 pounds of lint and about 30 socks that had disappeared over time. LOL  It reminded me of the never ending hankerchief magic trick.

Unfortunately most the the missing socks did not match the required bag of missing socks. You know that one you check every now and then to see if you can match a pair? At that point I could have stuffed a empty bean bag chair with the lint and socks.

SF you inspired me to a brillant idea. Why don't we all get together for a washing machine sock exchange. No christmas socks unless they are full of gifts for me.

sage, GREAT way for a house fire to start!!

my mum outlaw never remembered to check the lint filter. not only does it decrease efficiency, but when you're using it a lot (in winter), the chances of it overheating and setting light are much much higher.

*minor hijack - i'm so over weather that dries clothes in 5 minutes! is it too late to apply for winter?*

SavageFaerie -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/20/2009 5:13:49 AM)

Hey there's an idear Ray, goodness knows everyone has miss matched missing socks.

Angel,  one never knows, I always kept the lint trap clean. Had no idea there was a sock seaking open area at the back of the dryer.

But if I had a fire luckily it would have been on the day the hot water heater above decided to explode and a full load of water came crashing down  next to where to washer and dryer was LOL

Thank goodness it was a rent house and nothing bad happened.

The things that happened at that house, to include the city police and fire department shutting down the whole street then coming to the door late evening saying someone had called in a bomb threat.  I was definetly in a WTF moment, turned out to be a mad ex boyfriend on my daughters who made the call.  IDIOT

I'm a little late coming in on this, but can I just say "Jake, you laundry doing domly guy....I think I love you.  Call me!"

Ok sorry for the hijack of your thread, and back on topic.  I used to save my lint, thinking that surely there was SOMETHING  could do with it.  But, sadly, I"m not that crafty.  Wish I would have thought to save it for kindling.  We had  a helluva time getting our fire started last time we went camping!

Gwynssoftandshy -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/20/2009 5:29:31 AM)

Seriously now, we trained a service dog once who had an absolute fetish for pink dryer lint from this one blanket.  It would stop him in his tracks and he'd become all preoccupied, even lying down to cozy up to the lint.  He had to be desensitized.  Talk about strange and unusual!

MarksFantasyGirl -> RE: I was doing laundry and looked at the dryer lint and couldn't believe what a rich blue color it (1/20/2009 7:28:09 AM)

I have heard that drier lint will keep certain animals out of your garden.  Just lay some along the edge and get it like stick in the grass and such.  Because of the smells of it, the animals won't come near it.  Birds however, love the stuff, and will steal it. lol

hmmmm....i never thought of using lint as mulch in the garden...but it is a brilliant idea! bonus if it keeps certain animals out...i somehow doubt it tho...deer when hungry will eat pretty much anything and wood rats...nope...when building their homes they will saw down anything...now maybe cats ...yep that's it it will keep cats out of the garden.

may we all find our bliss one lint trap at a time.

My understanding on lint in the garden is the smell of the fabric sheets is what will keep the pests away

Sheesh. No wonder you've got ~18,000 posts.

I have an acquaintance who collects lint, especially if she can get it in colors. She's an artist and makes her own paper. Lint mixed with her paper pulp mash lends interesting characteristics to her hand-made paper.

Next topic: Belly button lint

i figured that is what it was. i use to pee around the paramemters of my garden and use blood meal sprinkled about...it helkped a lil...these were fenced gardens...deer always found a way in and forget about the bears when the huckleberries were ripe no stopping them!  my experience tho when animals are hungry nothing will keep them out except maybe a person with shotgun.

Sometimes I find cat hair in mine.
My suggestion don't wash and dry the cat.

Ah, so that's the secret!

When Daddy and I washed our blankets, that had some stickers in it, there were stickers all over the lint.

Also one time I couldn't believe how much lint ONE fuzzy king size blankie makes

Did laundry today, even my deep-blue sheets, but the lint was disappointingly pale.
