Personally i hope to NEVER see how Obama handles a crisis like that.

Neither would anybody with even just an ounce of sanity in their heads - the haters must be seething, tonight [>:] .

Ya know folks, I started this thread kinda sorta expecting Some of the responces that have been posted (Thanks O59 - ya came through with exactly what I expected to see from you!) ......

I even halfway expected it to devolve into yet more backbiting, partisan politics, and blame tossing.

Fortunately, a few of you managed to give me a much needed sigh of relief, in actually "getting it" and not having your responces be more of the same.

Oh - and Mark - you don't Have to stop, just like none of the rest of us Have to do anything, as far as whether we do or don't beat a dead horse past the point of even having meat left on the skeleton..... I was simply hoping that in a group of adults, more people would somehow Want to put down the blood soaked chains and step back from the now reeking carcass....  (guess it's not something I should have hoped for amongst a bunch of kinksters.... )

oceanwynds -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:40:07 PM)

I doubt it, and by reading a few posts, I believe I am right.
Many people are now looking for a messiah to save USA, so they have hope in their eyes and voices. Messiahs dont usually end well. Then People will seek another messiah and so on and so on. Someone come save us type of attitude seems to prevail throughout life.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:42:13 PM)

So please.  Where would you have gone, or attacked?

quote:

ORIGINAL: slaveluci

No, but we could have at least gone after the culprits actually responsible for it instead of Saddam Hussein/Iraq when there was no established link to him/them ever.  That would've been a good start[8|].............luci

slaveluci -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:46:18 PM)

I wouldn't have "attacked" anywhere.  I would have attempted to find the real culprits and deal with them when they were found.  I would not have invaded a country that had zilch to do with the attack just to feel like I was doing something about said attack.  But Bush did and lots of deluded and ill-informed folks such as yourself rallied and still rally behind his choice to do so..............luci

kittinSol -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:46:54 PM)

You have a peculiar brand of logic: you seem to argue that it's better to take revenge on someone who's not responsible for your problem just because revenge is a good thing and you have to be seen to do something about it.

i am pretty sure Mark was making a light hearted joke [8|]

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:47:38 PM)

Well if you are the "thinking man's" submissive... please elaborate.
Where exactly is/was Al Qaeda and it's leaders?  I mean, if you KNOW that, you could be $20 million richer.

I would like to put this up for discussion.  Israel led us by the nose into Iraq.  Saddam Hussein was threatening Israel and they didn't like it.  Had to get him out somehow.  Now we are being led into Iran practically the same way.

i would've gone after Al Quaida, and it's known leaders....not spent upwards of
$3 Trillion on a war with a country that had nothing to do with the Sept 11th attacks....other than that, i suppose i am not really experienced enough to know what to do.  But i wasn't elected President...another thing i have in common with Bush at that time, i suppose

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:49:53 PM)

Do you know for sure Iraq WASN'T involved with Al Qaeda?  Does anyone here know where Al Qaeda or Bin Laden is hiding?  If you do, please inform us!!!!!

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:52:17 PM)

You say that as if they AREN'T looking for who really did it.
Weren't there several of Bin Laden's seargants killed in Iraq?
Then perhaps we went to the right place.

Folks, if you want to discuss the reasons behind 9/11 or who is responsible, please take it elsewhere.

This is true but I can kind of understand that mentality.  I know President Obama is not a messiah or savior.  He is one man in a powerful, responsibility-laden position.  I am very realistic when I think about the years ahead and what might or might not be accomplished during his presidency.

However, I can certainly relate to and understand the celebration going on.  The last 8 years have been very dark and depressing to me personally as far as the state of this nation and the "leadership" we suffered under.  When Barack Obama won the election, I cried from relief.  I had been so scared that it was going to be four more years of the same despair and I had been terrified that Sarah Palin was going to get within miles of the White House.  I didn't realize how disturbed I actually had been by those prospects until it was all over and Obama had been elected.

No, he doesn't have a magic wand and he can't do half the things people are hoping/thinking he can/will.  However, it is a relief and an inspiration to me personally that at least we have a thinking man back in the White House.  IMO, we now have someone who really is intelligent and thoughtful and willing to listen to someone besides yes-men backing him up on wrong and immoral and sometimes even criminal decisions.  We have someone won't reject out of hand a good idea simply because it's not another Democrat coming up with it.  I believe we have someone who won't continue trashing our civil and human rights but who will respect them.

To me, just that foundation is reassuring and a relief.  No, he's not a savior.  But he's such a wonderful change from what we've had to suffer with these last loooooooong eight years..................luci

Elsewhere?  Isn't this off-topic where all political discussions are held?  Is that seriously a TOS violation?  Wow, I wasn't aware.  Sorry..........luci

I can only hope Obama has another crisis like 9/11.  And then we'll see if he cowars like Clinton did.

Edited before my ass gets handed to me

You  "hope" Obama has a crisis like 9/11????? Are you insane? You hope that hundreds of people are killed by terrorists so you can see if Obama handles the situation badly?? What a completely selfish, hateful, childish statement.
Here is what I hope.  I hope that you never have to be told that a family member of yours....lets say a husband, sister, brother, father is killed by an act of terrorism against the United States and that you don't have to live your asinine remark.

Your "thinking man" lost his license to practice law.  Anyone here know why?

scarlethiney -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 2:58:34 PM)

How about just a break from the bashing of every one period. I would settle for that. I like Davan doubt it will happen but I can hope!

Do you?  Please enlighten us.  If your explanation is as informed and fact-filled as your other posts, I'm sure we'll all have another good laugh at your expense.............luci

luci?
We are off topic, but there is a topic.

When people stray too much, it goes to random stupidity.
That's why I like "Off topic" chats.

Its amazing how so many people can watch the same thing and see so many totally different occurrences.  I saw a man who has had the hardest presidency of my life relieved that it was finally over and heading for home to rest.  Between world events, his own fuckups and hatred stirred up by his opponents from even before 9/11 the man had very little chance to be any more than what he is.  He was handed a shitstorm of jobs fleeing the country and a congress unwilling to try to stop them.
I'm not saying that he did well by any account.  I am saying that most of those bashing him now have neither the capability or the courage to even attempt to do that job.  We can second guess him all day and bash him forever but if you don't have the balls to try to take on those kind of challenges, then your complaints are empty air.
Peach, we won't see an end to Bush bashing because people prefer to have someone else make the hard decisions and then bash those that had to.   Had he been right or wrong, the bashing would have been there.

Hell, you can elect me if you want.  I'm up for it.

But then my Daddy wasn't a President and my Grandaddy wasn't a Senator, so I don't think I can skate my way through life the way this dumbass has.
