I can only hope Obama has another crisis like 9/11.  And then we'll see if he cowars like Clinton did.

Edited before my ass gets handed to me

You  "hope" Obama has a crisis like 9/11????? Are you insane? You hope that hundreds of people are killed by terrorists so you can see if Obama handles the situation badly?? What a completely selfish, hateful, childish statement.
Here is what I hope.  I hope that you never have to be told that a family member of yours....lets say a husband, sister, brother, father is killed by an act of terrorism against the United States and that you don't have to live your asinine remark.

Well if you are the "thinking man's" submissive... please elaborate.
Where exactly is/was Al Qaeda and it's leaders?  I mean, if you KNOW that, you could be $20 million richer.

I would like to put this up for discussion.  Israel led us by the nose into Iraq.  Saddam Hussein was threatening Israel and they didn't like it.  Had to get him out somehow.  Now we are being led into Iran practically the same way.

i would've gone after Al Quaida, and it's known leaders....not spent upwards of
$3 Trillion on a war with a country that had nothing to do with the Sept 11th attacks....other than that, i suppose i am not really experienced enough to know what to do.  But i wasn't elected President...another thing i have in common with Bush at that time, i suppose

you have cmail....

Many people are now looking for a messiah to save USA, so they have hope in their eyes and voices. Messiahs dont usually end well. Then People will seek another messiah and so on and so on. Someone come save us type of attitude seems to prevail throughout life.

This is true but I can kind of understand that mentality.  I know President Obama is not a messiah or savior.  He is one man in a powerful, responsibility-laden position.  I am very realistic when I think about the years ahead and what might or might not be accomplished during his presidency.

However, I can certainly relate to and understand the celebration going on.  The last 8 years have been very dark and depressing to me personally as far as the state of this nation and the "leadership" we suffered under.  When Barack Obama won the election, I cried from relief.  I had been so scared that it was going to be four more years of the same despair and I had been terrified that Sarah Palin was going to get within miles of the White House.  I didn't realize how disturbed I actually had been by those prospects until it was all over and Obama had been elected.

No, he doesn't have a magic wand and he can't do half the things people are hoping/thinking he can/will.  However, it is a relief and an inspiration to me personally that at least we have a thinking man back in the White House.  IMO, we now have someone who really is intelligent and thoughtful and willing to listen to someone besides yes-men backing him up on wrong and immoral and sometimes even criminal decisions.  We have someone won't reject out of hand a good idea simply because it's not another Democrat coming up with it.  I believe we have someone who won't continue trashing our civil and human rights but who will respect them.

To me, just that foundation is reassuring and a relief.  No, he's not a savior.  But he's such a wonderful change from what we've had to suffer with these last loooooooong eight years..................luci

Beautifully put luci thank you!

True, true.  But I thought with the original topic being Bush, this was just natural drift.  As I said, my bad.  The Mods are wonderful and great.  No offense meant.  I've only ever been warned one time before and I immediately complied.  It was an honest mistake this time I assure you.............luci

Funny how the Dems were in control of the house and senate when all the financial stuff went down.  But it's so much more convenient to blame Bush for everything!

Chickenshits?

Are you serious?

This war was started by a group of cowards that never saw combat in their life.

Bush had every opportunity to request active duty during Vietnam, yet it is even questionable whether he completed his stateside obligations.

Cheney took five student deferments to keep himself out of Vietnam.  Read that again, FIVE.

In fact, the only member of Bush's inner circle that was a war veteran was Rumsfeld.

Neither did I luci. Some people forget that its not suppose to be about who is right but what is right. It's right to move forward in the most positive way possible so we can all have hope, instead of remaining the black hole of negativity and trying to drag every one around you down with your attitude.
And yes it does feel nice to hope!

And yet, everything on MSNBC today was negative about Bush.

They even had the audacity to compare Cheney being in a wheelchair to his approval rating!!!!!!!

How sad is that!?!?!?!??!

What a fitting way for Cheney to go out.  In a wheelchair!

But it's typical of Dems to speak bad out of one side of their mouth, and talk about hope with the other.

Oh hiz,...you know I was funnin' ya'....but, amazingly you are correct. The bashing of Clinton is yet to stop from one side so I expect the bashing of Bush will continue as well. In My heart of hearts I hope as a country we move forward and truly do not spend the next 4 or 8 years bashing one another politically, it is how we ended up in the mess we are in at present.
If you follow the opinion polls the biggest change the public wants is a more bi-partisan approach to government so that it functions as it is supposed to...For The People....
In this thread the misrepresentation of facts seems to be pretty limitless but, not from Owner or myself on the left, if you will, but those that see things from the otherside and obviously seek to provoke. We all know BS when we read it ands ome just cannot help but point it out. I have refrained! edited...I really needed only one dead horse to beat!

You know I think its a shame that today gets tainted by it all. I am not a bush fan but at the same time I kinda think its better to move on rather than dwell, as KS said learn from the mistakes and see Obama as a fresh start.

It's sad really.  I'd like to see ANYONE do any better than Bush did.  8 years of no attacks versus what Carter, Reagan, and Clinton did to make us safer.

All three presidents experienced terror attacks, and they continued even after those presidents were gone.

ONLY BUSH has stopped them.

And everyone is pissed.  Boohoo!!!

Uhhhhh, you might want to check your facts, especially the time frames involved.

If you want to argue who kept us safe longest, it hasn't been Bush.

Was anyone else watching MSNBC?

They ridiculed Bush and Cheney... but failed to mention that congress's approval ratings were equal to both the president and vp.  Would that have anything to do with Congress being full of Dems?

Rumsfeld is not a war veteran.  He was a Naval aviator on active duty from 1954-1957.  He served in the reserves until the 70's, but he never saw combat.  Of course that isn't an indictment of his character.  He served, and he served honorably.  George W. Bush's service in the National Guard was just as honorable, and it's a fabrication that he didn't live up to his obligations.  Oh and Colin Powell was a member of Bush's "inner circle" and he did have some combat time.  He's just conveniently latched on to the new POTUS.  If you read about his career, he has a habit of doing that.  Yes, Cheney took student deferrments, but he never wrote letters disparaging the military like Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton is the person ultimately responsible for 9/11 and the Iraq war.  It was his adminstration that failed to apprehend or kill Bin Laden during the 90's (despite numerous chances.)  It was his administration that provided the bulk of intelligence supporting Saddam Hussein's WMD programs and ambitions.

Yawn.  Booooring.  All the "Dems" this and "Repubs" that is just ignorant.  You can't say all "Dems" think one thing anymore than you can say all women think one thing.  It's simply wrong and it's simply ignorant.  Saying it's "typical" of any party to do this or that is just glossing over reality.  Some of all parties do bad things and some do some good things.  Clumping them all together is just partisan nonsense and something we've been sickeningly subjected to non-stop lo these last 8 years.  Ahhh, regime change.  Ain't it loverly?................luci
