Now that President Obama is sworn in, are we finally going to get a break from the Bush Bashing?

Don't get me wrong - I detested Bush as much as most and more than some - I'm just really Really tired of seeing practically every other thread devolve into the same ol' thing of blaming Bush for every problem the whole world currently faces.....

Dnomyar -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 10:40:59 AM)

Well he did lie to start a war.

feydeplume -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 10:46:33 AM)

and he made good suits look cheap.

FullfigRIMAAM1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 10:50:48 AM)

LOL, behave you guys.  I think she meant don't reply and support your positions please.    M

Dnomyar -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 10:54:17 AM)

I noticed that he did sneak quietly away.  Off topic. I want to know why they let him carry all of that paperwork away. Dosen't that belong to the people.

feydeplume -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 11:01:20 AM)

nah those are love letters from his wife. i hope.

popeye1250 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 11:01:53 AM)

Peach, yes, that was kind of tedious wasn't it.
I'll just use him as an example when someone tries to tell me that a college "degree" is "valuable."
I didn't like Bush or Clinton so it was a LONG 16 years for me.
Hopefully Obama will be much better than those two idiots.

Amen!

Its amazing how so many people can watch the same thing and see so many totally different occurrences.  I saw a man who has had the hardest presidency of my life relieved that it was finally over and heading for home to rest.  Between world events, his own fuckups and hatred stirred up by his opponents from even before 9/11 the man had very little chance to be any more than what he is.  He was handed a shitstorm of jobs fleeing the country and a congress unwilling to try to stop them.
I'm not saying that he did well by any account.  I am saying that most of those bashing him now have neither the capability or the courage to even attempt to do that job.  We can second guess him all day and bash him forever but if you don't have the balls to try to take on those kind of challenges, then your complaints are empty air.
Peach, we won't see an end to Bush bashing because people prefer to have someone else make the hard decisions and then bash those that had to.   Had he been right or wrong, the bashing would have been there.

CatdeMedici -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 11:50:36 AM)

oh no, its always the guy that left that gets the blame.

Nope, that precedent was established in United States v Sandy Berger.

thishereboi -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 12:02:09 PM)

It would be nice, but I really doubt it. There are some posters on here that are so obsessed with the man that they can't make a post without bringing him up in it. Doesn't matter if the post is about him or not. They think everything evil in the world is because of Bush and I don't think today will change that. Its kinda stupid really because the same people who claim he is the begining of all things bad also claim he is just a puppet of others.

You didn't think he should leave the evidence behind did yah?!     But seriously, we should let him retire quietly, because he looks totally stressed out.    M

DavanKael -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 12:06:35 PM)

I think people will continue to complain about Bush and complain more about Obama (Since they started before he even took office).

Iraq

poor/no body armor

North Korea

Walter Reid Hosp.

nationalizing the banks/major financial insts.

doubling (or more)the national debt.

the torture regime

freedom fries and unilateral stupidity

That is just no small feat.
Owner, I think you left a few things out.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 1:08:53 PM)

I can only hope Obama has another crisis like 9/11.  And then we'll see if he cowars like Clinton did.

Edited before my ass gets handed to me

kittinSol -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 1:15:24 PM)

What a charming sentiment [&:] .

dcnovice -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 1:17:07 PM)

Indeed, nothing like wishing 3,000 people dead in order to score cheap political points.

MissSepphora1 -> RE: Just out of curiousity (1/20/2009 1:20:41 PM)

Can't say I've ever been charming.

I couldn't agree with you more, MissSepphora...and Cat...and IrishKnight.

The democrats now control the House, the Senate, and the White House.  That means every single socialist....errrrrr, forgive me---progressive...change for the better that they want should be able to sail through.  Let's see where that leaves us 4 years from now.  At this point, gas is $ 1.50/gal, we've had no terrorist attacks on this country in 8 years, anybody who is in the military signed up for it without benefit of coercion (and yet, you still have the chickenshits who "morally oppose the war...not that they wouldn't fight in the "right war", of course.  B. S.  They just really didn't think they were going to be called on to really do what the military does best...fight...and instead thought they'd have a job for 3 or 4 years that would help them pay for college.) or the draft.

Did he fuck up?  Sure he did...but some on this board and some outside this board have found any reason they could to hate Bush and the fact that he didn't fuck up everything is almost MORE reason for them to hate him.
