I see him on the local news a often here in Atlanta and till mis-spoke!...Duh!

Status: offline 		From this dumb Aussie, who just happens to hold triple nationality (Australian ~ born here; English and USA), I sat up all night enjoying the spectacle and was at one time during the seating of dignitaries and the blasts of trumpet fanfares, reminded if a Cecil B De Milne Roman movie with the pomp and pageantry of the entry of Rome by Caesar...I might be on my own here, but I could see an parallel between this President and JFK, a may who I admired.. I'm waiting to see if the US can indeed pick up her skirts and roll up her collective sleeves and digging deep turn the corner of the fiscal mess.. I have hopes that this new bloke will at least make serious inroads of the tasks her has set himself and can undo the damage or at least the wrongs of the previous administration. It really is such a pity that so many nations have their futures tied to the US Green Back..

We will, sure we may have to go through some rocky times but we will land on our feet.  We have no choice, for no one else will do it for us.  The US enjoys their luxury too much to allow this constraint to win.  And if they do start changing over power structures and ways we use energy etc, they have no choice but to get the American people where they can buy and afford all the new toys we will need to accomplish this change.  They are changing all our TV's over to digital on Feb 17, and for the past year they have announced it and for people who can't or dont want to buy new TVs to accomodate this change, they are giving coupons for the cost of the digital box or whatever it is that will allow people to watch TV with a regular non digital TV.  But i really doubt the government will be able to afford to do that for cars or heating elements in houses or new electrical connections, so in order to implement all these new ideas, the government needs to get us prospering again so we will buy all the new toys.

I think the majority of people around the world recognize that this imbecile wasn't the embodiment of our nation.

I think they recognize that he made decisions and took actions that the majority of Americans abhorred.

Unfortunatly I agree, I think that people in Britain at least slapped theif forheads and rolled their eyes when you voted him in the second time, I think that people seem to forget that he was voted in, people wanted him to rule your country and that in turn made people question your ability to make decisions. Sorry if thats harsh.

Seeing a million people show up in Washington DC to show their support for the President elect, and to celebrate the departure of the BUSH administration -- that was prima-fascia evidence that the majority of American people reject the fringe, right-wing elements of the American political spectrum, and that most Americans are tired of Lee Atwater-Karl Rove political machinations. Obama looks to have a huge mandate to make policy changes, and I'm very curious to see how it goes.

But none of that mitigates the fact that bush was voted in meaning the majority of people thought he was a decent leader. (I know the first time is questionable but the second term wasnt)

illusion and distraction.... the two primary watch words of modern politics.

We shall see, I suspect the new CINC has already raised the brows of a few political rivals that are supposedly on his side. Sometimes it's important to look beyond all the pageantry. Somehow I feel all the cold in DC yesterday wasn't inspired by the weather and the plans have already begun to unseat the latest "Messiah". It seems to me that the staff is to large an way to many egos are at stake.

But I could have simply lost faith in the whole greedy lot. I'll give him two years to impress me and speeches aren't gonna do that. We need men of substance for change.

I suspect the whole process might be doomed, the Right will start to leverage the blame for the ecomony, the possible future failings of the war and all other social issues first thing this Wednesday morn and the Left will in four years will still be blaming "W". So no matter the intent I suspect we will witness four more years of the same political environment. God, I hope I'm wrong though.

Felt sorry for the President and First Lady at that gawd awfully long parade, then having to attend 10 balls, loved watching the little girls enjoy a day they probably only half understand at best (given the scope of it and all ), wish I could have copies of all the photos the eldest girl took!! But, I would like to know where the person that made the First Lady's dress found the remants of fabric left over from the upolstering of my grandmothers 1950's Flexsteel sofa. That designer should be taken out and waterboarded.

Then last night, when I saw the evening gown, I wondered if like many little girls watching their mothers get dressed up for a night out, the Obama girls were able to be with their mother as she dressed and think she looked like the most beautiful princess in some fairy tale, wanting to be like her when they grew up. Because that is what that dress made me think of. Goofy I know but.....heh, blame it on the cold medicine.

Actually, a lot of those people were there to see President Obama sworn in and to be a part of an historic day in history. 
Your mention of the "fringe" right-wing elements in reference to Bush and his administration just goes to show that for some, ANYTHING to the right of their view is considered to be right-wing.
Huge mandate?  As I recall, Obama won somewhere around 54% of the vote.  That means that somewhere around 46% did not vote him in.  An 8% difference was enough to get him elected but it certainly doesn't amount to a huge mandate.

I wish the man luck.  I will be curious to see whether or not his policies reflect a capitalistic approach...which this country has always prospered by...or whether he takes down the "progressive" road, which is simply a synonym for "progress on the road to socialism".

You're not correct, both elections were compromised. Weren't Bush and Blair pretty much peas in a pod?
