You're not correct, both elections were compromised. Weren't Bush and Blair pretty much peas in a pod?

What the hell is "chuffed to bits?"

ohh Blair is a messed up lap dog, I completely agree we are generally hated as a nation too. I didnt know both were and I appologise for my inaccuracy.

And chuffed to bits is like really really happy

I have to admit I am totally ignorant about the pro's and con's of Tony Blair. I am however curious. If anyone wants to waste time enlightening me I would love to know more. Or at least point me to some good info.

My applogies for my ignorance but the sources for news here in the US tends to be more interested in solely US interests (as they see it) than world news. Even our version of public radio and BBC, is limited to the details.

Oh, and rather than totally derail a thread......if someone is so inclined to email.....

There arent that many pro's to be honest La, his attitude with regard to the US was ignore what his advisors said and just do as Bush wants (if you have seen love actually there is a pretty decent parody of just that)

Being New Labour he was basically conservative in disguise, as with most politicians he did nothing he promised and pandered to people bigger than him.

Thanks coloured, I thought I was "chuffed to bits" because of another thread, but since you've clarified I know that's not it.

How do Brits say "nauseous to the point of the bits are chuffed right up in the back of my throat?"

Actually, Ray, I was thinking of asking the Pirate for an arm-wrestling match, winner (me) gets Greedy and then moving to "jolly old E."

It seems like an outstanding plan at this time, one that would leave me chuffed to bits.

Believe me when I say I was right there with those that had strong feelings against Bushy .   I used to sometimes wonder where all the assassins were when we really needed one !

But part of the point of this change in the air , is to also change our attitudes .   The line about it being " time to put away childish things" demonstrates that wish .   Time to act like adults - with tolerance , forgiveness , and a lack of knee-jerk judgement towards others .

" don't look back unless you intend to go that way "

Time for all of us to get on with the business of making this country great again !

We've yet to fail on the scale other failed regimes---say the Roman Empire or the socialist Soviet Union.  Contrary to popular belief foisted on us by those on the left, F. D. R. and his socialist policies did not pull us out of the Great Depression, it was our engagement in W.W.II and the entry into the military of thousands of men and the increase in the use of factories to make material for the war that got things going.

Apparently the outgoing Bush administration has a new slogan: "At least we weren't as bad as the Soviet Union!"
