I don't think Obama is going to fuck up.  He has more than just the American people to worry about..he has the history of being the first Euro-African American President.  He's the set-point..the example of the best of the best. After his first day and the actions he's taken..he is a man of his word.

And yes Bush did represent us as a country..yes Europe..we WERE that STUPID to elect him twice.. but then.. that "election" of the people was questionable.

As Oprah says "When you know better...  you do better"

And why wouldn't we blame Bush for at least 4 more years? His mistakes were gigantic. Oh, and the right wing still cries and moans about a blow job and a blue dress how many years later? Please, the Clinton obsession is laughable. If Obama can begin to repair the damages caused by the incompetent unrepentant manchild in  two terms I will be ecstactic.

illusion and distraction.... the two primary watch words of modern politics.

We shall see, I suspect the new CINC has already raised the brows of a few political rivals that are supposedly on his side. Sometimes it's important to look beyond all the pageantry. Somehow I feel all the cold in DC yesterday wasn't inspired by the weather and the plans have already begun to unseat the latest "Messiah". It seems to me that the staff is to large an way to many egos are at stake.

But I could have simply lost faith in the whole greedy lot. I'll give him two years to impress me and speeches aren't gonna do that. We need men of substance for change.

I suspect the whole process might be doomed, the Right will start to leverage the blame for the ecomony, the possible future failings of the war and all other social issues first thing this Wednesday morn and the Left will in four years will still be blaming "W". So no matter the intent I suspect we will witness four more years of the same political environment. God, I hope I'm wrong though.

Both of them, in fact--2000 and 2004.

Hey hey heyyyyyyy good-bye!

The exact words chanted by members of the crowd in DC upon his departure--along with boos and a complete lack of applause.  (Really)

Wonder if he was smart enough to realize the implications.

I am soooooooooooooo glad President Obama retook to oath of office today.  When President Obama actually repeated it back to him the first way that Justice Roberts said it (with the incorrect placement of the word "faithfully"), I thought "No doubt some Bush loyalist will jump on it and say he was not legally the President".  I even thought that Bush's Justice Roberts might have done it intentionally.

(P.S. I corrected the thread title.. durn typos!)

Cries and moans?  Please...jokes are made about it but crying and moaning?

Yeah, why would anyone raise questions about a man who lied to the country and to investigators about his satyric nature and the extent of that satyric expression in terms of compromising the country's interests , about his wive's ability to make 4-5 times more from interest off her investments than anyone else in the same field was able to, about how much money he was able to make through the efforts of a gentleman recently apprehended as he tried to flee from authorities by BUS/TRAIN(?), etc..  But you know, I heard these issues raised at the time they were happening, not now unless someone is asked specifically about them.  The Bush-haters just can't stop and it works for them---no matter what Obama does ineffectively or wrong, they will be able to just blame Bush.  And of course, anything that goes right won't be because Bush started the repair of it within his term, it will be because of the powers of the Obama-siah.  Must be those same powers that sent tingles up ---supposedly unbiased, yet they were relieved of their primary coverage duties---journalist's legs.

  It starts already.
